We just had our condo roof repaired and re-​coated. Steve, the head man from Shield Roofing, was easy to talk to and matter of fact. He submitted a competitive bid and we decided to have his firm do the work. The work was scheduled soon after; some courteous workmen showed up, finished the job and left everything tidy.
We were impressed with the professionalism of the company. Their responsiveness was admirable because all the good roofers in Chicago have been very busy after the heavy snow-​sludge «event» of a few weeks ago. Like many others, our roof had developed a leak in those conditions.
We recommend them to anyone needing roof work.

Steve at Shields Roofing saved me from having a very bad, not good, terrible day. So, it starts pouring outside AND in my kitchen!!! It was Sunday morning. I couldn’t find anyone to even call me back. Then Steve, who lives pretty far away and was on his way to take his wife and kids to a kid thing called back. Did I mention it was a holiday weekend? EEK! Steve asked Mom to take the kids and took a long ride over… by the time he arrived it was hot and humid. Turned out that the roof had a big hole in the wood under the shingles. Even though I need a new roof I can’t afford it, so Steve made shingles out of some expensive repair tape, then covered that with shingles. Other guys who know about this said he did a great job. That was over a year ago and it is still holding. Also, he is a preacher and a really good guy. He worked about 5 hours and used that expensive material and I was short on cash. He said to give him what I could. Thanks again Steve!
