I have eaten from there many times. Food was good, and there was enough variety. Price was cheaper than other Indian restaurants, if I remember correctly 6.99 or 7.99 Last time on Devon, I walked around couldnt see it, didnt remember the address, but I know the vicinity, now I realize that it is closed, Sorry that the place is closed. The service was courteous too.

I don’t know how this place got so many stars. I went there because of the reviews it got and I was so disgusted. The food was sooo STALE and OLD beyond being reheated many times. Everything was nasty… I tried a bit of palak paneer and new right away this was a bad idea. I tried the chicken they brought and it was not fresh at all. My Husband and I walked out and told the waiter and manager the food is not fresh. They waiter did not seem surprised and kept telling me to complain to the manager. Gee no kidding. We just walked out and went over to Sabri and were in a state of shock after this horrid experience at sher a punjab. They should be ashamed of themselves. Thank God I did not eat much than just a taste and my stomach was turning all night. BE warned the management is very shady and they were selling days old reheated food in the buffet.

ummm, I don’t think I’ll come back here. There was nothing terrible about this experience per se, but the food was below average(albeit priced accordingly) and the cleanliness was questionable. Next!

This is a dive. So for all you dive fans, just go ahead and bookmark it now. The weekday buffet is solid, the price can’t be beat. Tastes were good, spicy just right and whether I got the meat curries or veg both were tasty and were pretty good when I mixed them into each other. I remember coming here many years ago and liking them for the spice level and taste of their curries. Glad the tastes were still there the other day. In the restaurant they have signs posted which indicate a charge if you waste food. I find these kind of funny, a few points why. They have situated a great many seats in here to maximize on money intake. They have chosen shoddy tableware and seats that are comfortable for about twenty minutes max. When the buffet has a charge lower than most other buffets on Devon, they could ask if you want that sloppy plate to go for that so called charge. Just saying. Now earlier I mentioned this place is a dive. See the other day I was standing by the front door to my place. I have been thinking about painting for some time, to add a new zest to the place. Looking at the walls made me reminisce the walls here at Sher-A-Punjab. The walls at the restaurant are fucking filthy. Downright nasty looking, with definite war stains from buffet goers of years past. Dated? Fuck yeah. They need to hire a cleaning service with a steamer to go to «town» on their interiors. Hot water wash the walls, tables, floors, heck they could do the ceiling while they’re at it. A new splash of paint everywhere would be great as well. You’d think Gordon Ramsey stopped by, if only they would update. Alas. they probably won’t and will keep the look as it adds to the history of the place.

Uhm, I’ll pass, thanks. I love, love, LOVE their Downers Grove location. It’s easily my favorite Indian food restaurant. Clean, delicious, close, and friendly. So when some friends and I were looking for a place to go on Devon Ave. for Indian, I obviously recommended their Chicago location. I beyond was embarrassed to have brought my friends here. The curries were old tasting, under seasoned, thick. Dosas were soft and mushy, yet clung together and tore apart when you tried to take one on to your plate. Offerings were few. Bathrooms were filthy. Staff was nice enough, but nothing like the staff on hand at their Downers Grove location. Pretty much the polar opposite of their other location. I felt like it was a wasted trip to Devon Ave. with so many other delicious Indian food restaurants within walking distance from where we parked the car. We obviously could have stayed out in the ‘burbs and received better service.

I really enjoyed the lunch buffet here. It was an incredible deal. The restaurant was empty when I got there at noon on Saturday. Literally empty. We were the only ones there. That made me nervous, but I’d read reviews about the food. The buffet had a lot of good of good options. There were large well spiced samosas. They brought nan and tandori chicken to the table.(And the chicken was actually moist unlike a lot of places). There was a good variety of options on the buffet, chicken, lamb, vegetarian. It would be easy to find something for everyone here! This seems like a great place to have a large group lunch on a weekend. We had the whole place to ourselves, the service was good, the food was good, and our total was under $ 21 for two people including the tip.

One word — SPICY! Samosas? spicy. Butter chicken? Spicy! Tikka masala? SPICY! Kebab? Spiiiicy! Even the Saag paneer was spicy, a shocker for me who is used to mellow spinachy goodness. Luckily their Lassi was up to the task of quenching my mouthfires. They also had some of the finest garlic naan I’ve ever tasted. Come for the naan, stay for the spicy! I have to comment on the crispy cheese fritters, they were totally delicious and hilarious. Chicken-fried paneer slices! It tasted like KFC meets Pizza Hut cheesey crust. I like the casual feel of the place and will be back to try the buffet.

Ringa ringa ringa. I have driven past this place 100 times, and always wanted to eat here. So, I gathered up two of my favourite homosexuals and drove up to Devon in my mid size SUV. The first thing I noticed was that all the wait staff were middle age men — and that the restaurant was exceptionally clean. Sadly, it was also rather empty. Which possibly meant a few things : a) The food was bad b) It wasn’t busy c) My press agent had booked out the whole place for us It turned out the answer was b). Which ended up being a good thing because we got exceptional service. To start, they place a plate of hot tandoor chicken on the table. You just wander up to the buffet, and grab a plate and start dishing. I started with palak paneer which is a pureed spinach with paneer cheese cubes. I also grabbed some basmati rice, and sat back down. The table was already laden with silverware and roti. But who uses silverware to eat Indian food? When in Rome!(or Mumbai!), just eat with your hands. Its more fun and authentic. Second trip was for some butter chicken and more rice. Food kept coming out of the kitchen, and replacing empty bins on the buffet. There were actually a few other people eating — besides the handsome men I came in with. I ended with galub jamun, which are like little donut holes soaked in a warm sugary syrup. Very delicious. Then the bill came. A whopping $ 30 for all three of us. We then left to do a quick grocery shop in one of the city’s best markets, and grabbed an icecream at Patel Café. If you are eager to try Indian food, this is a great place to try it out. The price is right, and the variety is amazing. Also, there might be hot homosexuals eating dinner there.

We got a take out on a late Sunday afternoon, and I really liked the food here. We got Dal Makhani, Butter Chicken, Paneer Makhani and Veg Biryani, and the dal was some of the best I’ve had in a while. The veg biryani quantity was amazing, enough to feed four people, and it tasted quite decent as well. A good value for money place.
