So before going on, I will say this isn’t necessarily based on Shamrock Club but the patrons. Last night, I was on my way home down the street and decided to stop in and have a beer in a quiet little bar across from my office. It was late, 12:00am or so and the bartender was great. Poured stiff drinks and provided great fried greasy goodness. With that said, there were a few patrons in there who were less than happy that we were there. Not sure if it was the skin color, the money on my wrist, or damnit, we just ain’t welcome there. Anyway, bartender told us to ignore them as it was obvious they knew each other but these people were pure trash and disrespectful as it was obvious they just didn’t like someone who has a job making more than minimum wage. I won’t be back, unfortunately.

People, I was on a mission for some onion rings for lunch — I mean a serious hankering! But all praises to Unilocal,I found a great spot near the office and I dragged my coworker with me. Some of the reviewers called it dive-y; I wouldn’t call it a dive bar because to me, dive bars contain the shadiest of people and a bathroom that is so filthy, it would be illegal. This place is basic, and I like that. It has alcohol, it has chairs, and it has TVs — what more could you ask for in a bar? The spot was clean, and I had a great server. Oh, and it has some kick-ass onion rings! And they make a mean steak burger as well. And, I had a nice cold beer — a Blue Moon — to wash it down with. Best lunch ever. Needless to say, I was very relaxed when I returned to the office — I was full and a little tipsy — but whatever — I’m definitely going back.

On Point. So pleased to find the neighborhood bar finally. The elixir to my desperate need for a break from the rest of my lovely, but eh-hem, pretentious neighborhood. Great drinks, friendly service, tasty food cooked and served right at the bar. Juke Box.

Working/studying in River North for a few months, and coworkers suggested we check this spot out after finishing up Friday night. Honestly, based on other bars I’ve been to in the area I wasn’t too excited about the idea. When we got there, I was immediately comfortable. It seems like the kind of place you could find in any small town, rather than in the middle of downtown. Cheap prices(especially for River North) and bar food(I’d highly suggest chicken fingers) stood out. Excited to head back next Friday!

We came here with a large group after a holiday party. Our group had arranged something prior to our arrival, so we had space and drinks ready when we walked in. It was really crowded when we got there. It’s a pretty small bar, so it got pretty hot with all the people. I have to be honest that this isn’t a place I would usually go, but it was alright. The people that work there were great with our group!

With the demise of Cal’s, probably the best throwback in the nearby area. Small, which is what all bars used to be. English? Uh — no. The size relates directly to the crowd — raucous but friendly. Low food and drink prices, especially for the area. They even managed to get a pool table in the back, another plus. Especially charming at Christmas time when the snow is falling –go now.

In town for a few days, and I just wanted something near my hotel. Shamrock Club is the only dive bar I could find in River North, and I’m glad I did! Good beer, full liquor bar, and delicious food — all at extremely reasonable prices. I really liked the staff too. Very pleasant and they provided pretty quick service. I’m only in town for a few days, but I’ll probably be back to Shamrock Club!

Tasty chicken tenders(huge portions) with blue cheese dipping sauce, a mountain of fries and beer & drink prices you just can’t beat in the Loop area. A perfect place to unwind and get a few drinks after work or if you’re hungry… just stop in for lunch or a quick bite. Shammy’s is the best!

They claim to have the coldest beer in town… and it is pretty darned cold. Needed that to wash down the fried mushrooms which were rather doughy. Cool place with a vibe of a neighborhood bar in a pretentious neighborhood. Me gusta

You can’t ask for anything more from a dive bar in a great location. reasonably cheap draft beer with FREE popcorn and across the street from Merchandise Mart. Definitely a great place to come for happy hour. Highly Recommend this place!

So glad we stumbled into the Shamrock — almost literally after our friend bumped into the crappy sidewalk. This place is a jewel inside a desert of expensive joints. The best shots. The best beers. The most amazing company. Say hi to Kelly and Eva. They are rocks and so much fun.

Do not overlook this amazing bar and grill. Sure there are fancier places in Chicago but you won’t find a better smile an conversation from any other staff in town. We stumbled into this bar and so happy we did. Get a drink and a shot and maybe a burger you’ll be pleased. Ask for Kelly tell her Vegas says hey.

Was told the prices were reasonable, they are. A cheeseburger w/fries for $ 6.75 in River North??? A bargain. Plus they have daily specials for $ 6 – 9 dollars. Nicely decorated, friendly server — name was clean spot. A couple of tvs for the sport lovers. I ordered an order of fried mushrooms; big order for only $ 4.50 and tasty, leftovers for sure… I also ordered a cheeseburger w/cheddar cheese & grilled onions, delish… very impressed for a small spot. I’ll be back again!!!

If you like more of a laid-back dive bar setting where you can pull up a seat and enjoy some beers and sports, it doesn’t get much better than this. A group of about 8 of us showed up on a rainy Saturday at 11:00 just as they were opening. We ended up in the River North area and it seemed like we were going to be limited to overpriced bars with gastropub type food, until we found this gem in the rough(or maybe I should this rough in a sea of gems), but it was exactly what we were looking for. The brick walls are covered in different Chicago sports memorabilia along with a healthy dose of neon beer signs. There was a decent sized bar, and quite a few of tables throughout the smaller place. We took most of the seats at the bar, and were greeted warmly by the lady working that day. I wish I could remember her name, because she was great. She was a bit older of a lady who sounded like she has worked there for a while, and was a lot of fun while also making sure our glasses never went dry. They even had an outdoor section that would have been nice if it wasn’t such a stereotypical Chicago spring day outside. The very short menu pretty much offered a selection of baskets full of deep fried items served with fries, as well as some hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and other easily prepared bar items. I went with a cheeseburger, which was huge and served with a large serving of fries for under $ 7. We went with the option to get pitchers of whatever light beer they had on tap, and this was probably the cheapest beer we drank in Chicago the entire weekend, which includes a long list of beer from other places. Their tap selection doesn’t get close to touching some of the better beer places in the area, but they have some different craft things for those of you who won’t stoop low enough to enjoy a Miller Lite, as well as a full bar for you liquor people. This isn’t a place that has any frills of any sort, but if you are the kind of person who likes a bar without all that other junk, then it really doesn’t get much better than this. We were only there during the day, but it doesn’t even seem like the hipsters who think going to these sorts of places is cool have found out about it yet, so it really was just a crowd of normal people enjoying a beer and some sports. This will definitely be on my list of places to come back to if I am in the area again.

Un poco sucio, no pedimos comida, pero muy barata la cerveza! Compramos un balde con 5 Coors por 16usd, insuperable! Además, tienen Guiness tirada que siempre es un plus. Si estoy por la zona volvería a tomar una Guiness.

Really enjoyed eating lunch here today. Just happened to stumble across this place in my walk and I am so happy that I decided to give it a try. The place is small and has a cozy feel to it. They offer many drink specials throughout the week and have a small and simple menu to go with. The service was really good and the steak sandwich that I had was the best.

A colleague brought me here once several years ago when we needed to unwind with a drink and talk, away from the office. He prefaced it by saying that I probably wouldn’t like the place very much. He was right; I love it! It’s a unique hole in the wall/dive type place in River North that you don’t need to dress up for. Very low key, laid back, with a nice selection of beers, cheap bar food, and great burgers! They also have a pool table in the back and a jukebox. It’s a great place to grab a quick bite or have a beer after work.

One of your only options for a dive bar in the River North area. This is a nice little spot to grab a drink after work. They have free popcorn and a wide variety of fried foods, in typical Dive Bar fashion. They also have pool in the back which is always a plus. Not your average River North joint that’s for sure, and that’s the reason you want to come here.
