They just increased prices by about 33%, and the broth flavors are quite inconsistent at times. Service is so-so now as well. I wonder if they have management change recently? Going to have a break with this place and maybe revisit in 6 months.

We went here after eating at Hing Kee. We ordered a meat and seafood combo with a two different broths(can’t remember, but the original broth was better than the spicy one). I love sauces, so I enjoyed the sauce bar. Overall, the food was okay. The watermelon boba was really refreshing and good.

I used to come here for their hot pot selections but only come here for desserts since hot pot went downhill here. I ordered the bing soo and watermelon freeze smoothie with tapioca and«less sugar» option. Bing soo never disappoints here. I *think* it’s meant for sharing, but I dominated one bowl on my own. On the other hand, the watermelon freeze smoothie was a huge disappointment. It was essentially a flavorless smoothie that had tapioca balls in it. I really don’t think the«regular sugar» option would have helped much. Lesson learned for next time: only order the bing soo. Let’s just say I ate so much to the point of expanding my waistline by two full inches and became food drunk. My friend was a good sport though. She supported me while I was walking up the stairs to catch my train.

Ok-ish food. Not the greatest, not the worst either.

This hot pot place could use some improvements. The broth was simple, nothing special. Kinda pricey, not enough noodles nor meat. I went with my boyfriend we end up spending $ 60 on hot pot. We could have gone down the street to an all you can eat. If you never had hot pot definitely try it out, but do not expect to be full!

First of all, this has nothing to do with their food quality, this post is everything to do with customer service and respect. So after saying that, Screw this place. So we walk in, wait a few seconds to get seated, the lady behind the desk points to the guy to get us a table, this guy walks around us and escorts these two Chinese people to a table, he completely walks past and around us to the front door, says this way to them, walks past us again, grabs two menus, and then seats them. He then turns around and points to a table and says here… Ummmm ok?. I look at my gf and think, WTF. First, if I’m gonna be disrespected the moment I walk in, do I trust them to serve me food? Hell no. We get up and start to walk out. I mention to the guy. «Next time you have somebody that is here first, seat them first. By seating those other two before us, it was disrespectful.» He makes this grunt sound like he doesn’t care and we walk out. Screw this place. If the owner is reading this, you need to pay attention to the pricks that represent your establishment. Don’t eat here.

Not sure how to rate it because I couldn’t find it by the provided address. There’s no such Shabu Shabu at 2131 S Archer Ave. I am quite interested in Shabu. Based on the reviews, I drove 40mins specifically to find this place but failed. Very disappointed. If people can help me with the directions, I will give it another try.

The hot pot was alright, I had better hot pot. They took forever to give us our food, which I don’t know why when all the food are raw. Then they mess up the order and gave our food to another table. Once they figured out that it was the wrong table, they gave us our food from that table which was partially touched and eaten. We had to tell them that we need new food. Then for our other dishes that never came out, we had to remind them many times to bring it out. We also requested for some PANFRIED pot stickers. They didn’t tell us from the beginning that they did not have it, instead they brought out their steamed uncooked potstickers. Without a warning, we bit into RAWPORK potstickers and had to quickly spit it out. We told them we did not want it and they still put it on our check. We had to ask for it to be taken off. The only reason this place even had 2 stars was because they only had the yogurt order correct, and I do like their yogurt. It was quite an experience. I will not come back for hot pot again but I will still come for their yogurt.

I’ve been here multiple times and each time, it is always pretty packed. The seafood hot pot broth is so good! The meats and seafood are not flavored but with the sauces and condiments that you scoop on the side, it adds all the flavor that is needed. The vegetables are amazingly fresh. I wished they gave more noodles when ordering the hot pot but its not that much to order additional servings of noodles. Throughout the years I’ve noticed they decreased their serving sizes of the meats/seafood and also vegetables. They also have frozen yogurt with a variety of toppings, so great!

Has great shabu shabu with your choice of meat/seafood. Nice interior, good Joyee style bubble tea drinks, and good range of hot pot ingredients. If you’re out in the cold and looking for something to warm you up instantly, shabu shabu hits the spot. They also serve rice if you want instead of noodles.

Highly recommend this place. Pros: Quantity Quality Quiet Quick Very tasty large portions. We had the Beef with Beef Soup. Liked the whole dish and ate it all! Cons: Like so many Asian Restaurants, service is a bit unfriendly. Probably a language issue.

Shabu Shabu is a great fun place to eat. It’s not like your normal restaurant experience; it’s much more involved as you are required to cook your own meat in the hot pot. This allows you some freedoms in enjoying your meal. You can cook your ribeye rare or well done, it’s all up to you. I had the mini shabu shabu with beef broth, ribeye and fatty beef. I couldn’t really tell a difference in taste between the fatty beef and the ribeye so I wouldn’t recommend paying more for the combo. The smoothies are really good, especially with the tapioca. The price was very reasonable, my girlfriend and I were incredibly stuffed and we only spent $ 30. The atmosphere is great. The floor was glass and had koi fish swimming underneath. If you are claustrophobic, you may not like the seating. The restaurant has bench style seats that are very close to one another. All in all, I would highly recommend this place to others. Super fun for a date night.

Really good Japanese spot in… Chinatown. Shabu shabu is a method of cooking various ingredients tableside in a boiling broth. You can get various big assortments of vegetables and meats to cook with taste adjusters like Thai chili(hot!), a good bean paste of sorts, fish sauce, chili sauce, cilantro, fresh garlic. There will be ethnic folks there a lot more in the know about how to mix everything up but really, at the end of the day, you just got eat what tastes good… and you’ll fast find out it’s pretty much everything here. Then their mango yogurt with lychee jellies, fresh mango and strawberry pieces for dessert was pure heaven. A little tangy, smooth and creamy, just the right amount of sweetness. Inexpensive and good service. Dizzying array of stuff on the menu! Be back… soon!
