One of few places that I can find the Oaxaqueño’s Tamales. I love them and so has everyone that I’ve given one out two. It can get busy in there and sometimes run out of the queso con rajas, but if you are patient will have them done in half hour or so. Take cash, they don’t accept debit/credit. There is a BOA across the street.

I recently decided to give this place a second chance since my first experience was not one to male me want to go back. I had family coming in from out of state and wanted some comfort food. Didn’t realize it was cash only(my mistake). I only had a few bucks so I went in anyway and got green tamales my personal favorite… Flavor completely changed for the better since the last time I was there. Nice heat factor and no more of that over seasoning.

There Tamales Are Great But They Mess Up Your Order A Lot. They Messed Up Mine Because I Had Ordered For Them To Put Me Only Green Tamales, But The Lady Had Put ALL Red Tamales. And I Am Not Going There Anymore

But lately they are SODRY and have no flavor don’t know what happened but I am going to have to fine some where else to get my tamales from.

Best tamales and oaxaqueños ever. Very few places in this big city has tamales as good as these. The place is just a shack but don’t let that fool you. Best to take these to go.

i was recommended this place since I always get Manolo’s on 63rd st. First and last time I will get tamales from here. I got two dozens tamales. 1 dz of green chicken 6 red pork, 3 bean and 3 strawberries. The chicken were decent, yet the pork were mysterious… maybe it was this batch. Sauce was ok and lacked meat… the only reason it received two stars was due to the champurrado… thick and full of flavor… the place seemed run down. a dark entry feeling…

After reading the reviews, I expected this place to have delicious tamales. However, the tamales were dry and not tasty at all. Thank god I didn’t find a cockroach like another patron did. If you want dry chicken with green sauce tamales then this is the place to go. But if you want delicious chicken verde tamales, go somewhere else. I’m still looking for a good tamale restaurant in this area. So far it seems like only the tamale stands offer good tamales.

This joint is exactly that. A true Mexicano knows how to chose a hole in the wall, But the tamales I think are the best in the city. Moist, hot not too much masa. Priced right. Bring cash. As good as your AMA makes.

This place has out of this world tamales. Hands down, greatest I have ever had. No frills, place your order and you got em in a minute or two, piping hot fresh out of the pressure cookers lined up behind the counter. Very nice employees. Grab a bottle of Mexican Coke while waiting from the fridge behind you, they are exactly like I remember Coke as a kid when they still included cane sugar in the ingredients. Might want to also get a squirt bottle of red or green sauce from the fridge, then sit down and enjoy a steaming hot Mexican miracle. Hmmm, 2nd time this week. I prefer the pork, they offer them made with green or red sauce flavoring. Hot damn they rule my world, love them both.

Oaxaquenos! Hands down, my new favorite tamale place. This is a small place that always has a fast moving line. My new love affair is the oaxaquenos, a slightly larger tamale wrapped in a banana leaf. So moist, so flavorful, so good! You can eat inside although there are only approximately 25 seats inside. The staff is friendly and helpful. The regular corn husk tamales are $ 8.00 per dozen, while the oaxaquenos are $ 1.50 each. I love the tamales from here!

EWW!!! I go to the Maxwell street market to get tamales Oaxaqueños. They are the best I have ever eaten. Unfortunately for me they only sell them there, and they do not sell them in the winter. So I went on my trusty Unilocal app and searched for those suckers. I found Rosa’s Tamales in gage park. Success! Or so I thought. We drive there on a Sunday morning and upon entering the restaurant I am already getting an uneasy feeling. The tables and chairs look like victims of a hurricane and the place looks like it could use a good cleaning. We sit down and wait for our waitress, we don’t get menus. I had to strain to look through the fog covered window to see the menu on the wall. About 5 minutes later we get our tamales. We open them up to see that they are still mushy, but the meat is overcooked. The tamales were also very small. We gave them a shot and ate them anyway praying we didn’t get sick. My fellow Unilocalers failed me with this place!

THE best tamales in town! No fat on the chicken; its nice and shredded, all white meat! Try their green tamales and rajas con queso. Complimented by their agua de horchata and I am set! Bring cash! Promise it will be worth it!

We’ve been going here for a few years. We always get the Oaxaqueno tamales. Never disappointed. Can’t decide if we like the rojas or verde better, so we get 4 of each. Still hot we get home, have one of each for lunch. A couple days later, we steam up the other 4 for lunch and they are even better.

This place is amazing. Rosas tamales is delicious. I enjoy eating their tamales rojos Oaxaquenos and their tamales rajas con queso. I like green tamales too but not from here because the chicken is cubed and not shredded. I don’t know, I just preffer it shredded. Their champurado, a thick Mexican style hot chocolate, is a cup of heaven. Make sure to bring cash because they don’t accept debit/credit here.
