Roger Beck Portraits

Roger Beck is the WORST. His photos are fine but he is not particularly talented with kids. Our child was terrified of him and Roger was impatient and surly. Roger also uses a high-​pressure sales tactic to force you to chose your photos at his studio (unlike other studios where you can view on line and select at your leisure). He also pays NO attention to detail. Unfortunately, we worked with him a number of times and EVERY time, he ignored any editing requests — i.e. teeth whitened, remove drool on the baby, etc. In a city like Chicago, there are so many other talented photographers with real customer service skills and who take genuine pride in their work. Roger is interested only in having you part with your cash. We deeply regret giving him our business for so long and wish we’d found someone else to work with. GO ELSEWHERE!

My wife and I have used Roger for over 5 years. He was the photographer at our wedding and has taken family photos of us every year since. I have to say that he has a way with people so that he gets the most out of his photo sessions. Not only have we used him but we got his name from our friends who used him at her wedding so he has been around our family for a long time. I have to say to anyone looking for a photographer… If you go any where else your foolish. He is so professional. From the start all the way to the finish in his studio. Use him and use him all the time for any special moments you have or just family portraits. There is no one else in the Chicagoland area that is better.

Roger is a very personable guy and he has a real passion for his photography. You can tell this as soon as you walk into his studio. I’ve worked with other photographers in the past who didn’t seem to have what it took to make me want to use them again. In Rogers case, I will definitely be using him again.
He adjusted the lighting in a matter of minutes and we were shooting minutes after I was in his studio which I thought was great because I was fresh out of the cleaners with my best shirt on :-)
His pricing was on the money (no pun intended) and I received my profile shots in a day. Very good experience all around with Roger.

Roger is great. He was a great mellow addition to our relaxed wedding and wedding party we wanted. He was up for anything we wanted to do or go. We had a morning reception and only an hour between the ceremony and the reception and we got a ton done in one hour. We had a great time with him at the Lincoln Park Zoo and at our church for formal photos. The rest of the time I didn’t even realize he was around. We got or photos back and I didn’t know he was there at that specific time! But he wan’t hard to find if I needed him. He blended in perfectly. Our photos are some of the best wedding photos I’ve seen, different, colorful, fun and we had a blast doing them too.
I wouldn’t say he’s pricey, I think it’s pretty average for Chicago. The others we visited were a lot more.

Roger is a nice man– he is polite and dedicated to his art.
Although he is a little pricey, he is reliable with customer service.
This is unusual in the business.
