I’m going to keep it simple. Food is good and custom service is good, so 4*‘s. My lady and myself have used several groupons here and each time we were very satisfied with our orders, so they definitely get the thumbs up!!! This is my spot when I’m up north!!! They make me feel very welcomed and remembered me from my review and greeted me with a hug and thank you. I’m the type of person who tries different things but when I find something I like I stick with it for a while. I ordered my usual curry fried duck and my lady ordered curry fried shrimp with chicken egg rolls and fire tuna rolls as appetizers… a must try!!! Once again everything was delicious!!! I want this place to be recognized for its goodness but I don’t want it to be were I can’t get a seat…(my selfishness) which they deserve!

This place is really solid. I hope they don’t change anything. Rock fried rice with shrimp is my go to and never disappoints. Ingredients are all fresh, the sushi is great as well. Definitely recommend for freshness, taste, value, quality ingredients. Oh they give you a free items as well. Signed, – A very tough sell of a customer(at least thats what my wife says)

Good casual sushi place with a huge variety of rolls. It’s a great place if you love a big menu, but I imagine it’d be hard if you were a first time sushi-goer trying to figure out what you want in your sushi. There are two different menus, one with Japanese specialties and rolls and one with Thai specialties. Then there’s another menu with more specialty rolls. So it was a bit overwhelming at first to figure out what to order. I ended up getting a Samurai roll and a Philadelphia Maki and both were great and came out quickly. Though, like some of the other reviews, I was disappointed that neither of the rolls came with a fun design on the plate. Neither did my friend’s. Overall though, the atmosphere was nice and colorful and the service was fast. If it’s cold outside, I’d definitely recommend asking for a table on the side of the restaurant further from the door, because the winter air kept blowing right on us every time someone would come in.

My bff’s and I came here for dinner and had the best food and service. The server, I did not get her name, was very helpful. One of my bff’s only likes cooked sushi, so the server went through the entire menu and showed her every sushi that was cooked. I had the strawberry maki(this particular maki contained tuna, salmon and… get ready… STRAWBERRIES, but somehow it all went extremely well together), steamed shumai and Belgium chocolate mousse cake. My bff who does not like raw sushi, LOVEDLOVEDLOVED the strawberry maki. Also, when you check in on Unilocal, you get 10% off AND its a BYOB. We will definitely be back.

I came here last night for dinner with my sister. The décor at this place is pretty cool(oddly shipped mirrors and all that jazz). The waitress took care us promptly. We ordered Red Hot and Godzilla rolls. The Godzilla was amazing. It was warm and on point. The Red Hot had jalapeño and I’m pretty good with hot food but this roll had a kick to it. Perfect! The Red Hot was not my favorite roll but it was pretty good. I would order it again just to taste the cilantro! Yes, I said cilantro. In a sushi roll. The only disappointing aspect was that our rolls were not decorated like some of the pictures show. Not knocking the quality of the food but I would have loved the design :)

Fantastic cozy unpretentious little place! Great Thai and Japanese food selections, and the most amazing service. If you are not keen on ordering Asian cuisine(we’ve all had that challenge), I would recommend asking questions when ordering and expressing to the servers what you like/dislike. They go the extra mile to accommodate and find things for you to try. I am impressed how much they care. Oh and the Thai Ice Tea is to die for too!

I can only speak for the veggie sushi creation I ordered to go before an AIR class(nice light lunch/dinner before hanging upside down and swinging around) … wow … Cashews/strawberries/avocado/some mayo sauce creation/mango — will be stopping back for more sometime! Not sure if I would ever dine in, as the place is smaller and staff seemed a little indifferent, but picking up to go no problem! Especially if you keep those vegetarian options going :)

This trendy join caught my eye from the start! Their food is a feast for the eyes and your tummy. Be prepared to be dazzled by the presentation of all your delectable sushi. Kick-start with edamame and then jump right in with spicy tuna maki, dragon roll, strawberry roll, and the witch roll. Sharing is highly encouraged! I’ll definitely be adding this to my go-to restaurants.

5 star service, 5 star creativity, and 5 star quality. This place makes sushi that doubles as art, and a handful of top notch Thai and Japanese dishes to bat. My favorites include the Blackhawks roll(Go Hawks!), the Virgin roll and Like A Virgin hamachi appetizer, and the scallion pancakes. Definitely a neighborhood favorite of mine.

I’ve been searching for a good sushi restaurant in Lincoln park and Rock Wrap and Roll is it! It’s BYOB and they have lot of unique sushi options. I tried the Strawberry roll and the Black Magic which was on special this month(made with black sushi rice and topped with an extra salmon nigiri made into a jack o’lantern!). Service was great and also noticed a few tables with the other non-sushi sides and entrées so I will definitely be back to try them out.

I love this place! Me and my wife come here at least 2 – 3 times a month during lunch for their half off maki specials. Also if you go there make sure you get the wrecking ball appetizer. It is 4 balls of rice deep fried topped with spicy tuna with dipping sauce. They also do specials on the thai and chinese parts of the menus as well. The maki is some of the freshest maki i’ve ever had and i eat a lot of maki. Service is great. There is always a place to sit.

I been coming to this sushi eatery for a while now and every time I am greeted like an old friend and the service has been wonderful. I don’t know much about different sushi or maki rolls and our waitress was quick to assist and ask what kind of flavors we were interested in trying so that was very helpful! This obviously isn’t some fine dining sushi restaurant, its a BYOB eatery and customers should see right away that you come to enjoy a pleasant lunch or dinner on the go! My sushi — fatty tuna nigiri, fresh sashimi and their amazing specialty maki rolls like THEVIRGINBRIDE or THEVOLCANO are just so fresh and so tasty, the sushi chef must of been an artist in his previous life! One other thing I love about Rock js that the owners listen to customer ideas… I mentioned on one of my visits how I loved soft shell crab well a week later I see a Facebook post telling customers to try the new seasonal special Soft Shell Crab! Omg delissshhhhhh they have taken other ideas under consideration and that’s a sign of catering to your customers if I say!!! I highly recommend this joint to fam and friends and everyone comes away loving it! Oh yeah one more thing I love the Rock Fried Rice! I posted a pic NOMNOM! All they need on the menu is RAMEN and I would live there! Hahahha

I was excited to try this place out because I’ve seen interesting pictures on Instagram of the food. I was very underwhelmed by my experience here, mostly because of the service. I go to BYOB sushi a lot, and most places are willing to heat up sake. I asked if they would do that for us, and our waitress did, but then served it to us in one mug. When I asked for a couple of small glasses, our waitress was obviously annoyed. I also had to ask for a bottle opener, which I would think is common sense since we had bottles that needed to be opened. The waitress/hostess was also annoyed that I had changed my reservation time and amount of people, but I had done so hours in advance so I don’t see what the problem is. I understand that maybe we were asking a lot, but I have received much better service at other sushi places that would not be annoyed by any of this. The restaurant wasn’t even busy, so really I don’t understand why our waitresses were so annoyed by us. Lastly, the restaurant is open until 10:30 pm, but they were pushing us out the door at 9:30. As for the food, they have an interesting roll with strawberries on it that was good. Overall, their rolls seem to be on the smaller side. One good thing was that I wanted to use the groupon for 4 people for just two of us, but we were not allowed to do that. I’m not upset about that at all and I completely understand, and the manager allowed me to buy the groupon for two people even though it wasn’t ready to be redeemed yet.

Loved this sushi spot. I had two rolls, one was their«most Unilocaled» roll and I believe it was the crunchy spicy tuna. The other I had was spicy hamachi. It’s not too fancy at all. The place was not busy during the week, but I also went during an early dinner time. It started to get more busy throughout the night. I thought the sushi was pretty fresh, but the service was a little slow and not the friendliest. I’ll def be back.

This place has totally awesome sushi and the ambience is great! It wasn’t our first choice for dinner but I’m glad we tired it, pequods down the street had a mega wait time and pushed us to try someplace new. The staff is very nice and friendly and the food and how it was beautifully presented knocked our socks!!! Bonus if you check-in on Unilocal you get 10% off for dining in! Awesome! I’m a fan of spiciness the samba roll and dynamite roll was on key. We also had the sweet potato maki, shrimp tempura maki, and chicken teriyaki. All so good! We will return the next time we’re in the Sheffield depaul area for sure!

Oh my gawd. How did I not know — or ever hear — about this place?!! The trio sashimi is SO fresh, the lemon chicken salad — the grilled Chicken is fantastic, slightly charred with a light seasoning and drenched in an addicting white sauce. The fish is fantastic. Just ordered the salmon teriyaki — good, but the sashimi is better. Ambiance is comfortable with light lounge music and natural light from the windows. The staff is very friendly. Our waitress threw in a miso soup and some green tea for us. And dum dums with the bill! For sure try the trio sashimi & lemon chicken salad(I’m not a lemon fan and I loved it). :-)

One of my favorite sushi restaurants in Lincoln Park. The long beach roll is an absolute must. I get it every time I go. Some other favorites are beatle roll, and the latin roll. This place has amazing services. They are always super friendly and accommodating! EVERY time we go in they always give us 15% off coupons for our next visit. The restaurant is clean and is not super loud which is a nice change from the typical hustle and bustle of a BYOB sushi place. Yes, thats right not only does this place have great food and great service but it is also BYOB! whats not to love?

Great little place! Extensive menu of Japanese and Thai favorites, and my roll, the Godzilla roll, was massive and delicious. Cute presentation as well– check out my picture! Great prices, service, ambiance, and it’s BYOB. The Groupon made this an even better deal. It was cold out and the door kept opening, leaving me in a chilly spot, so they’ll definitely need one of those door covers for the winter, but they gave us some complimentary tea, which was super nice– especially because we didn’t bring any wine to keep us toasty on the inside.
