Friendly crowd and pleasant bartenders make this a great spot to grab a few drinks! Sometimes there isn’t anyone at the bar, but at worst case you’re stuck with one of the bartenders, both of whom I’ve met have always been very friendly and personable. The hours are a bit strange, so it can be difficult to tell what’s going to be a busy night and what isn’t. On weekdays it has a small after-work crowd. Wednesday’s are always popular for the $ 3 burgers. On Saturday’s it doesn’t open until 8pm and doesn’t get busy until much later. Can sometimes be a really fun crowd and dancing on the pool table has been known to occur. I have never had a problem with the clientele here. They are always very friendly and up for a chat. A great place to come even if you are going out alone. You won’t ever leave without making a new friend. You don’t even have to worry about someone taking your seat or stealing your jacket while you go out front for a smoke. Crowd is mixed with students, people from the neighborhood, people who work close by, or people just trying to escape the typical bar scene found a little further north in Chicago. Beer selection is modest, but filled with the standards as well as a few more interesting ones available in bottles or cans, but you won’t feel overwhelmed with a massive gimmicky beer list. Always easy to find something that you will like, even for the more snobbish of beer drinkers. Prices are affordable as well. Bar is on the small side, but I like it and it feels like a cozy, neighborhood hangout. Nothing tacky or gimmicky about it. A darts board and small pool table will satisfy your competitive edge and a juke box is available to play your favorite tunes. A condom machine in the bathroom is a welcome sight as well, not enough bar restrooms seem to have them anymore. some closing remarks: «find me a warm seat and a cold drink and that is all i need for some time to think» — Herbert Hoover, 31st president of the US of A

Rick’s is definitely the kind of Dive Bar that continues to prove itself to be a landmark of the neighborhood! Whether you are coming in for a late lunch, dinner, and or drinks! Rick’s has something for everyone. The service is pretty impeccable and the staff is undeniably friendly! Since the first day my boyfriend brought me over to Rick’s, this bar continues to remind me why we keep coming back. The crowd this bar caters to is totally diverse and undeniably friendly: Young, Old, College Students, CPD, Neighbors… to say the least! Just goes to prove the fact that they’ve got something for everyone! Their menu is pretty great! Burgers are always on point and the specials they have to offer is the icing on the cake! Everything is made to order, typical bar food but so much better! The drinks are always on point and you can’t beat it’s neighborhood prices, seriously! Rick’s is the place where everyone will eventually know your name! It’s so nice to have such a welcoming gem in the neighborhood. RIck’s being so close to home, it’s definitely become a goto spot for my boyfriend and I! They never disappoint, we will continue coming back for more! I definitely recommend paying Rick’s a visit!

i’m not a dive bar kind of gal but i had a great time at rick’s. i flew in late on a friday night from san francisco and found rick’s to be the only open place in the hood. the service was great, the customers went out and got me white castles(i was starving) and a very nice man walked me home — no funny business. i love chicago. i love rick’s!

My favorite little dive bar in the city. Mainly because of its proximity to my house. Prices are lower than most other bars in the city and it has good variety for a small neighborhood bar. Friendly crowd. The bartenders are always fun too! It’s got a jukebox that’s always playing, the smallest pool table I’ve ever seen and a darts board. I have a great time every time I’m here and always leave feeling pretty good :)

Rick’s Bar is the perfect dive bar. Very cheap booze. Surprisingly good food, including cheap burgers on Wednesday nights. One drawback is the weird hours. For example on Saturdays, they do not open until 7 or 8PM. This is a bummer when Hawks or Bulls games start earlier. The bartenders are very friendly and chill as well. The owner’s wife was in last time and took pictures of my group to include on the Facebook page. Good place.

Something about this place is just so perfect. It’s your local neighborhood bar. Nothing special except the people. I love bringing people here and the appeal seems to come out more after you have 1 – 2 beers. You socialize with your neighbors, you put money in the jukebox, you order some bar food, and you just have a good time at home.

Went here Friday night. Not crowded at all which was nice. Nice good neighborhood bar with a pool table, darts, juke box, and a little dance floor. Nice place to chill out and the bartender was friendly. Check it out

Just a good old bar. There’s absolutely nothing fancy about this place and that is just fine with me. I’ve been in just for drinks and to eat dinner. Rick can grill a heck of a burger and the fries are tasty too. But what I like about this place is that it’s just a neighborhood bar. There’s a tiny little pool table, a juke box, and TVs everywhere that is almost always playing sports. It’s a nice little stop if you find yourself down there with some time to kill.

I swear on my life that this place is a front for something… I’ve been here maybe a dozen times over the past year(I literally live around the corner and a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do). About 10 of those times, there has been zero, zilch, 0, nobody(shall I continue?) there. It’s weird. The bartender is nice enough, probably average in every regard, but I think she is a student because she’s more wrapped up in her large textbook-looking monstrosity then anything else. The food is pretty darn tasty and the beer is cold but everything else is no different than a garden apartment kitchen. Our neighbors have always said this place is a cop bar and perhaps it used to be but certainly not now. I’m not sure how they stay in business but I’m glad they are there when I need them and really, let’s face it, that’s all that matters…

Great dive bar on Taylor & Western. Small, but cozy. Cheap drinks and friendly staff. My husband and I had a few drinks there last night and enjoyed the relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere. Perfect place to go for a couple cold ones and unwind.

Above average dive bar. Food was your usual bar fare, but yes the burgers are really good and the jalepeno poppers were pretty good too. Reasonably priced drinks, very friendly bartenders, good music, and the TVs are great for catching the game. Looks like I will be making this one of my regular spots in Tri-Taylor!

Their bar is average, however, if you turn around the corner on Taylor and visit their Café, their HAMBURGERS and CHEESEBURGERS are the BEST I’ve had. You know you have a good hamburger or cheeseburger when you reheat the leftovers and the hamburger tastes better than when it was fresh… I mean, their food is great, but their ½ pound angus cheeseburger tastes really good when it is reheated in the microwave… Their jalapeño cheese poppers are really good and their french fries are excellent! Yummy! And you can’t beat the prices!

I eat here for lunch a lot. I give this place 4 stars based on the burger and onion rings alone. The shrimp is actually really well done too.

I like Rick’s for a quick beer and good burger. It’s not my favorite neighborhood Friday night haute, but it’s a chill place to meet coworkers for happy hour, catch a Sunday game with friends, and not overpay for a beer and drinks. Nice plasma tvs by bar so you can catch any game. Small dollar pool table is one of the last of it’s kind in the city. I disagree with the comment made about too many college kids. I don’t mind them at all although I haven’t seen a lot at Rick’s. They mostly hang out at Hawkeyes and Drum and Monkey.

They have free popcorn and pretzels. The beer is cheap. Pool and darts. Neighborhood is really shady, but the bar is a nice dive and the patrons are friendly.
