This is great spot– bartenders are really amazing and the drink specials are great. This is one of my weekly hangs and it really awesome– also the pizza and french fries are great things to munch on!

This bar is great, fun spot on a Sunday night. My girlfriend and I stopped in here randomly and we walked in on a comedy show. The comedians were really funny, the host made it feel like they were a part of the family. I will also say it’s worth stopping in here to check out their bathrooms, by far the coolest sinks I’ve ever seen. #THEMSINKS

I had a Guinness and a Heineken and both tasted awful. As some other reviewers have mentioned I would say there’s definitely a problem with their tap lines. If you want to be a wine bar that’s fine, but don’t have beer taps unless you plan on taking care of them.

Like many other reviewers I took a painting class here. I read the reviews in advance and went in with pretty low expectations because some people absolutely slammed the place. I’ll say this: those people are being dramatic. Was there only one person working? Yes. But she was super nice and pretty attentive once she got through the initial rush of everyone arriving at once for the class. Give the girl a break! The Food — due to the lackluster reviews of the food I ate in advance. But I kind of wish I hadn’t. Somebody ordered a burger and fries and it smelled wonderful and the fries looked nothing like the«McDonalds fries» referenced in another review. The wine — I was bummed that there weren’t any specials for a Tuesday night. I also was bummed that my glass of wine was $ 12. I had looked at their wine menu online in advance and there was only one type of Sauvignon Blanc listed on it at $ 8 a glass, so I’m not sure how the one I ordered was $ 12. But whatever, it was a decent size. I can’t speak to the beer because I purposely avoided it after reading several reviews about the lines being old. We purposely asked for the check about 30 min before the class ended and it came really quick. Not the best place in the world price wise and its not super close to my apt so I probably won’t go back, but it was a nice enough experience and definitely doesn’t deserve only 1 or 2 stars. Some people are just high maintenance and need to get over themselves, maybe then they’ll be able to have a good time while they’re out.

Went here on a Wednesday night for some drinks with friends. Walked into a improve show that was an unexpected suprise(not posted on their website). Was greeted with a friend waitress who took care of us. At one point randomly an older woman came up to the table and kept trying to talk to us(apparently the owners mother is a wondering old lady) and the waitress did well in keeping the woman at bay. A nice place.

Went here for a painting class. Such a cool bar, nice atmosphere, great bartender(Maria) and fun lady owner! Such good people. Nice wine selection.

I don’t give out one star reviews lightly, but this place deserves it. I will never be back. I took a painting class here and while the class itself was good, this place did everything it could to ruin the experience. The class filled the place, which I imagine was a change of pace for them on a a Tuesday night. There was one server, which clearly was not enough for the whole room. She came over and asked us if we wanted to order anything. We asked for a drink menu. She said she has a full bar — no menu. We said OK, how about a beer list. She said she had whatever was on tap — we should go look. Finally, I asked if there was a wine list. She said she’d bring one to me, and she did, about 20 minutes later. I asked if there were any specials, and she said no. I said it was a Tuesday, and she said they didn’t run specials. Ummm, OK. I finally ordered a glass of Malbec. She returned with it about 20 minutes later. it was the smallest pour I have ever seen for $ 9. So not worth it. It was clear from the start that this bar is not a good venue for a painting class, something the instructor noted at the beginning of class. He asked if it was hard to hear him, and it was, a little. The server’s solution? Turn off the air! By the end of the 3 hours, it was so hot in there I could barely stand it. No open windows, no open door, just a huge class with no air circulation. Finally, as class was wrapping up, my husband went over to the bar and asked for our check. 20 minutes later(surprise!), we got our check. Not for anything, but she could see class was ending. She couldn’t think ahead a little bit and realize everyone in the place would be asking for their checks at the same time? We paid up and got out of there as quickly as possible. The moment we got outside, i could finally breathe in the cool air. I would not go back for anything.

Great food, but small plates, be prepared to order at least 2 or three things from the menu. We had a table of 5, each had a drink, a few plates, and split 2 desserts, the bill was $ 250. The patio seating was nice.

The service is great. Food is tasty if limited. They bought us $ 30 worth of drinks at a painting event. There is a foul and mysterious odor in the bathroom.

Such a sad place. I was here with friends for a painting night. Frankly I think that this is the only time the place fills up(Xippo seemed to have a similar problem). Nothing that will set the world on fire, we ordered Fat Tires and a Pilsner. All were flat. The bartender/waitress(on a busy night you can’t bring in one other person to help? Took forever to get things or even find her half the time) said that the kegs were new, but looked confused when my friend said maybe there is something wrong with the lines. I stuck with the Fat Tire because I really wasn’t interested in their other choices, but the others ordered bottled replacements. Some of which were warm bottled replacements. Yuck. As for the food, well… I only had a bite of my friend’s fries after she did the classic«there is something wrong with these, do these taste off to you?» Yes they did, like it was old oil, or it was kept near fried fish. I didn’t see anyone else eating(but they were all painting so there wasn’t a lot of room for eating). They had a panel fall down in the bathroom which apparently broke the lid to the toilet tank because there was no longer a lid. Smelled like old urine in there and the hand dryer was bad. When I got home my shirt smelled like a deep fryer. Not pleasant. They should just shut down and reopen as a friendly neighbourhood bar & grill.

Two Words: Disappointment Central I came here with my roomies to do the painting and drinking thing(which cost as much as all the other places with actual studios except the canvas here is SUPER cheap, the brushes have seen better days, and you can’t BYOB, but nevertheless I had a good time and have a neat painting). Anywho. I’m not a wine drinker… champagne yes. wine no. Their sparkling wine list was. non-existent so I opted for a beer. Just a draft miller lite. When my beer arrived 15 or so minutes later it was flat and so was my friend’s beer(something fancy. not sure the name). I was totally starving and thought this place would have some decent bar food(would have killed for something resembling a chicken wing/tender/nugget), but the menu here didn’t quite have that. or really anything that interested me. I opted for the ravioli and one of my friends ordered the pommes frites. 45 minutes later(and seriously there were only like 15 people in the whole bar. no reason for such delays) I got my ravioli that looked like a dead jellyfish on a bread plate. I took one bite and couldn’t handle the overwhelming saltiness of it. 1 ½ hours later my friend got her fries which I’m pretty sure came from McDonalds. So my crappy beer was $ 6 and my jellyfish app was 9 or so. $ 15 wasted :(That could have bought so many chicken nuggets!

I went here to attend a friend’s birthday party and I don’t think I’ll be returning. We arrived early and when we walked in, the entire bar turned and seemed to be staring us(I’m not Serbian and neither is my boyfriend.) When we tried to find some seats, one of the bartenders came up to us and asked what we were doing here. I’ve never been approached by a bartender like that before, especially in an establishment where they want customers to spend money and feel welcome. I told her I was waiting for my friends to arrive and to listen to the band. Clearly there was a language barrier because she didn’t understand me. Finally another bartender who seemed to speak better English approached us and told us to grab a table and wait. No one asked if we would like to order drinks. At the end of the evening, I went to close my tab at the bar and was surprised how much it was. This is Wrigley-ville so I was surprised that I was being charged $ 6 for a Miller Light that had 2⁄3 beer as the rest was head. I asked the bartender to explain the costs and she couldn’t understand English. I tried speaking to a manager who directed me back to the same bartender. I tried to ask my questions again and finally gave up as it was pointless because she couldn’t understand me. I signed the tab and handed it over. She took the signed tab and seemed annoyed that I was asking her questions. No thank you or anything was exchanged. I have never felt so unwelcome at a bar before, especially by the staff and don’t plan on returning here again.

I am livid, absolutely furious over the horrible food and despicable service we received at Revolver tonight. When we walked in, every single table was filled with artists painting the Chicago skyline on canvases for a «drinking and art» event. After having reviewed the menu on the restaurants website, I was disappointed by the idea that they might be closed for an event. My boyfriend asked the bartender«Are you serving food tonight?» She said, «No, no Serbian food, only French food.» He said, «oh, but you are serving food?» and we all laughed at the misunderstanding. Many, many moments later she attempted to seat us at a table in the back, but not after knocking over and shattering a candle holder all over the table and floor. BF asked me, «Is she wasted?» and again we laughed it off. Many, many moments later after we had read and reread the menu many, many times, she eventually returned. We ordered two bowls of French Onion Soup and asked some questions about the menu. We were still the only table in the place, yet it took 20 minutes to get our soup and beers. The soup was a typical crock served on a napkin on a plate… except they must have only had one napkin because in between my crock and plate was an old receipt of a previous order. Random! While eating the soup, the lights went off. We were laughing uncontrollably at this point and BF said«I just hope we get out of here alive.» It just seemed like one disaster after another. We eventually tracked her down and asked to order our dinner. His burger came out first. He gave me puppy dog eyes and I rolled mine and said, «fine, go ahead, start.» Fifteen minutes later she brought our order of pomme frites which resembled a small order of McDonald’s fries scattered across a very large plate. The truffle mayo was a cold lump that was un-dip-able… we had to spread it on each frite with a knife. Halfway through his burger I begged for a bite because my entrée, the tapas version of the hanger steak, was nowhere to be seen. At this point, for some reason, we’re still chipper and giggly and making the best of it. I ordered the tapas version of the hanger steak because I was saving room for chocolate bread pudding. The tapas version is pictured on the website as a sliced steak with bleu cheese sauce and crispy parsnip chips. What I eventually received was a sliced steak drenched in a disgusting burnt brown gravy on a tiny, tiny plate with about ten of the crappy McDonald’s fries shoved in the corner. No parsnips, no bleu cheese. The steak was so rare I was mortified. There is simply no other explanation other than 1) server forgot to put the order in or 2) chef forgot to make it. I mean, the steak could not have been cooked for more than five minutes and my man was done with his burger before it even came out. There’s just no other explanation. I’m pissed and staring down at pieces of red raw meat in brown gravy for so long. Server is nowhere to be seen. We’re still the ONLY table there. As another 20 minutes went by, BF asks to see my phone and pulls up the menu on the website. Clear as day, there is a picture of the tapas version of the hanger steak, with parsnips in bleu cheese sauce. Now he’s pissed. Eventually, our server returns and asked«was everything good?» and we said«No. No.» I was actually shaking I was so angry and said«We have been sitting here with dirty plates for twenty minutes.» to which she replied«the plates were dirty?» I said«No — just forget it – we were not served the dishes the way they were described on the menu. There were supposed to be crispy parsnips…» She went to talk to the chef. Many, many moments later she returned and simply stated«Yes, um, he gave you fries instead of parsnips.» I said«Forget it. Yes, I know that, but forget it.» It was maddening. BF asked to speak to the chef. She went back to the kitchen again and returned, many, many moments later to ask if she could offer me a drink on the house. I said no, we were going to order dessert, she said«sure» and ran back to the kitchen without asking WHICH dessert I wanted. When she eventually returned many. Many. Many. Many fcking moments later, she said«oh, I am so sorry. The chef said he can offer you $ 2 off because of the parsnips, but no dessert. I would also like to bring you a drink on the house.» I said«FINE.» and she said«do you want the same beer?» and I said«YES.» We never did get that beer. And it was like pulling teeth to get the check many moments later. The chef never did come to speak to us. I looked over the check and there were no discounts. We were the only table in the whole place and they still couldn’t figure out how to handle it. It wasn’t the worst three hours of my life, it wasn’t the most angry I have ever been, but it was without a doubt the worst dining experience I have ever, ever had.

If you loved this chefs restaurant Cotes du Rhone, then you’ll like Revolver even more. The food is very similar but with some dishes outside the previous French theme, as well as the ability to get tapas style portions now. This way you can try several plates and easily split them among friends. As always, the favorites are on the menu like mussels(the best in town in my opinion) and hanger steak and amazing brussels spurious — and I don’t even like brussels sprouts. Prices for the tapas portions are between 7 and 12 bucks, and they have half priced wines during the week. The room is a little dark, but clean, slightly modern and there’s a bar if you want to hang out and just get drinks before/after your meal. Great wine list too… he’s not doing byob anymore but with half priced wines and not having to worry about finding out you didn’t bring enough wine, I’m happy. Try his new place out if you haven’t already… you won’t be disappointed!

First time there, and the food is fantastic! Had the mussels and the hangar steak, both done perfectly. This chef obviously has a European style, which means portions are not ‘American’, but that means you should be paying attention to what you order. Also, the flour-less chocolate cake is delicious and the wine specials(half-off bottles) are hard to beat. The wait staff seemed to be brand new, and fairly inexperienced so the service was not very good, but the quality of the food made it worth it. Also, it was a quiet Wednesday evening so a larger crowd could have easily over-tasked what service was there. The bathrooms need attention. The fixtures, like the sink, are beautiful, but the toilet seat is falling apart and there is graffiti etched into the mirrors. I’m a firm believer that the quality of the bathrooms shows how much care is put into the establishment. Overall, we will eat there again because the food is wonderful, but with some small fixes it could be one of Chicago’s best.

We went here for my 30th birthday and had a fantastic time. During a snow storm, so it wasn’t crowded at all. We weren’t really sure what to expect, but we definitely did not expect the food to be as amazing as it was. Our server could not have been more friendly. We got a seat by the window, the music was good, and we felt very comfortable. My husband got a beer recommended by the server and thought it was great. I got a gin and tonic that was more like a big gin on the rocks with a drop of tonic(which is what I told him I wanted). I can’t speak for the price of drinks since mine was on the house after the server heard it was my birthday. We got three small plates to share, and each one was better than the next. The third of which, their bistro burger, my husband describes now as ‘the best piece of food he has ever eaten.’ I am not kidding, it was that good. It was so good, he left a note on the back of the receipt that said, ‘that was the best burger I have ever had in my life’ with a heart around it. A heart. My husband has never drawn a heart for me, and he drew one on the back of that receipt. All in all, could not have had a better time, and if you don’t go just for the burger, you’re missing something in life. I really hope they stick around so we can go back sometime.

If you’ve been to Xippo, you’ve already been here. Revolver has the same management, same service, but the kitchen management has changed. Just like Xippo, Revolver offers live music, and DJ’s on select nights.

WOW! first time ever attended was Saturday the 17th and I had a blast!!! I was there for a friends birthday celebration and it so happened that is was also ROCK en Espanol night from the 80’s and 90’s(e.g. flans, magneto) it was great music, the drinks I loved! so far a great cosmo at a bar, Fresh and cold, my drink was evaporating fast. LOL! it was a little over crowded, but the atmosphere is nice and cozy. Like the corner lounge area. Bathrooms facility is a no no. Although they are nice having only two for that many people, not such a good idea. Other then that I would go back to celebrate my birthday! Thanks

Yes as others stated this is the old Xippo. However they did NOT change ownership. All they changed was the name and the menu. The food is reasonably priced, but the drinks are overly expensive, and the tap beer is bad(bad lines). I live down the street and use to frequent this place. I know the owner(still there). If you like tapas style food, overpriced drinks, in a euro trash wannabe night club… then this is your place.

This is the old Xippo. Went on Saturday night witha friend for dinner, Showed up at 8:00, place was empty. Unknown to me they had just had the grand reopening on Friday night. Food was decent, very small portions. Much more of a sharing menu then entrees. Price was okay. Now the big negatives: Drinks are SOEXPENSIVE. My short parton & soda was $ 11! The entrée we ordered was $ 12, that is crazy. More than a martini or a grey goose, so the drinks are way off price for the area and the establishment. Also this place seems to be Serbain based, which is fine. The only thing was it got very weird when people started coming in and they all knew each other. So my friend and I felt like we crashed a private party. Strange. I am all about having a certain identity but it was a bit off putting, along with the sky high drink prices.
