Hands down BEST eclairs ever! Cannoli’s are wonderful too! Everyone who works there is so nice.

I adore and support family long time owned businesses and love this bakery. I used to order from Oak Mill Bakery (last time I tried, that was a BUST-​see my previous separate review on that)… My first time ordering from here was for my baby shower cake. I had brought in a similar cake picture of a design I wanted and a copy of my invitation. They were able to make that cake style and decorations in the colors of my invitation (and also the color theme of the shower!) Although pricey, you can’t expect class that this place delivers without paying for it. If you want cheap, go get a plain sheet cake from Jewel or Costco. Flavor? RED VELVET. YUM!!! I will DEFINITELY order from here again in the future. YOU HAVE A LIFE LONG CUSTOMER FROM THIS HAPPY GAL RIGHT HERE!

Reuter’s has the best buttercream frosting in the world. My family gets birthday cakes from there religiously. I kind of feel like ordering a cake now…

Reuter’s made my wedding cake for my wedding on June 27, 2015. Reuter’s was wonderful throughout the process of deciding where and what wedding cake I wanted. I called them and asked them to taste some of their cakes. When I came in for the tasting, the samples were mini cakes of the various flavors that I wanted to try. They let us take them home and sample them. It was really nice that they provided a generous sample so that my parents could sample the cakes too. After sampling cakes from a few different bakeries, I decided on Reuter’s for both the quality and the price. I picked a design that they had in a window display for the cake design and went with different flavors for the different layers of the cake. The week of my wedding, the bakery even called me to verify the flavors and the design of the cake.
The cake was delivered on time the day of my wedding and was both beautiful and delicious! The cake was so good that we could not wait to eat the top layer so we ate half of it on our two week anniversary and saved the other half for the one year anniversary. I highly recommend Reuter’s for anyone looking for their wedding cake!

We bought my daughter’s Frozen cake and it was delicious. Fresh strawberries and chocolate mousse (on point)… The price was reasonable too.
I’ll definitely buy in this place again!

Update… I just spoke with Richard (the cake boss-​lol) and he was very professional and offered me a $ 100 refund. I’m still unsettled over the fact that the lady who took my order seemed to just ignore all my requests. Will not order a birthday cake with them again but I’m pleased with the way that the owner dealt with the situation.

Have been going to Reuter’s Bakery for a few years. My grandfather LOVES their coffee cakes & éclairs.
Just Recently[went on a weekday after 11:00 A.M. and the pastries were still available]:
–Cherry Logs: A+(they have full –sized fresh cherries)[my mom & I chose 1 cherry & 1 apple, but got 2 cherry logs– it was ok; because we were not in a mood for an apple pastry]
–Éclairs: A+(the filling is delicious & it is filled)
–Sugar Twists: A (not greasy & there is good coating of sugar)
–Cinnamon Rolls: A (other bakeries consider a cinnamon roll as glob of greasy dough with patches of cinnamon inside; taste better when you warm them up in the oven for a few minutes)
–Cupcakes[note: there is a cream filling]: A
–Poppy Seed Hamburger Bread Roll: A (tons of poppy seeds)
Past:
–Donuts: A+(not greasy & not soggy)
–Coffee Cakes: A+
–Apple & Cherry Turnovers: A+
–Cannoli: B
Not a fan of their cookies (D’Amato’s Bakery has better cookies & cannoli)
A major complaint is that there are no labels/​tags in front of pastries providing ingredients/details[ex: Logs– which one is the cherry & which one is the apple] and the price. It is frustrating having to ask a staff member what and the type of pastry[ex: cupcakes– both had chocolate frosting where one type is white & the other is chocolate cake].
Took one star off for their cookies and second for no labels/​tags.
They tape the boxes securely[which is very helpful].

Great bakery no doubt but it will hurt your pocket a bit. Ordered a cake here once– a small cake for amount 12 people and I paid 75+tax on it. The cake tastes great! But felt it a bit much. Cake was chocolate and yellow doing with strawberries and chocolate moose. Wish that for that price I could’ve gotten it a bit bigger.

My family has been coming to Reuter’s for over 30 years. My Italian mother is extremely picky when it comes to bakeries. We love our cannoli’s, zeppole’s, napoleon’s (any Italian pastry for that matter) and Reuter’s makes the best in my opinion. Their custard far surpasses any other I’ve tried and yes there is a difference when it comes to custard. We only buy zeppoles (for St. Joseph’s day) here. No where else. Just not the same. They make excellent cannoli cakes, tiramisu cake, and their Boston crème cake is delicious as well as all of their pastries and breads. It is always worth the drive, always fresh and there is no place like Reuters!!! Hope they are around for another 30 years.

We have been going to Reuter’s Bakery for years and there is nothing like it in the city. Parking is convenient. The staff is pleasant and super efficient which is excellent since there are usually a half dozen customers at any time ordering a bunch of items and many long-​time customers like us– a good sign for sure! In selecting our family’s bakery we were looking for high-​quality, super fresh, reasonably-​priced coffee cakes, breads and cookies and we found all that at Reuter’s. But what really sold us were their Hot Cross Buns. They are sold during Lent but one of the ladies told me they can make them other times of the year given enough notice. Did I mention their excellent customer service? Highly recommended!

I do not give my praise unless a place is truly outstanding!!!
My fiancé I went in to Reuter’s for the first time this morning. We went in with wedding cake appointment and had arrived early. As we were parking we noticed the large number of customers that were in and out of the bakery and took it as a good sign. Once we walked into the bakery we saw that there was a large group of people ordering all types of pastries. Although I wasn’t looking to buy any sweets once I saw all of the delicious pastries I had to at least try one and it was as delicious as it seemed.
When it came down to our appointment we were taken care of by an employee named Nancy (when I say taken care of I mean it!) Nancy was very helpful and made our experience very delightful. She helped us make our wedding cake decisions on the style, flavors, colors and size of the cake. Oh and she gave us a platter of different samples to taste which tasted very good.
All in all an awesome place!

This bakery is the best in the city — a real gem. From custom orders to everyday coffee cakes and sweet rolls, you can taste the quality ingredients, like real butter and whip cream, in every bite. Yummy!

They literally saved my bacon. I was in desperate need of a butterscotch cake and had called around for an hour. They made me a butterscotch cake! and it was delicious

Wow! Easy parking. Great and expansive selection. Friendly service. I will return, and soon! This place is great!

Needed a special cake for sisters 50^th birthday. Went in on Friday May 2^nd with my idea, they took it and ran… we could not have been happier with the results! Not only did they exceed my expectations, they were very affordable! Will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs a cake or anything!

I had been to a ‘bakery’ in Oak Park, that did not bake their own goods. They had a super delicious raised donut with fresh strawberries. I don’t remember how I determined that it was Reuter’s that actually made that donut. However, I decided to go to Reuters. Bakery Heaven! My husband says that their chocolate donuts are the best ever. I still like those fresh strawberry donuts, as well as their custard donuts.
Their fancy cookies are wonderful. They used to serve free coffee… but like lots of things, that is a thing of the past. I have had one of their custom cakes at a baby shower that was excellent, as well as beautiful.
It’s not easy to be a stand alone bakery these days with grocery stores like Jewel and Mariano’s around. However, those big stores don’t bake from scratch. You will see frozen layers of cake that have been shipped in to the stores to be frosted. Half baked breads, or frozen bread dough from large bakeries that are baked by the stores. Yes, it’s convenient when you’re at the store buying your groceries. However, those products cannot compare to a true bakery — a really good bakery such as Reuters. I’m old enough to remember when most towns had a bakery. These days we have to drive to a stand alone bakery, because there are so few.
Make the effort to go to Reuters. You will be glad you did! Delicious, fresh, wonderful!

Everything here is great! Pastries & service! What more could you ask for?!?

I LOVE this place! We order all of our cakes from here and they have never disappointed.
The staff is so helpful and the bakers are amazing. I’ve ordered everything from regular cupcakes to a full sheet cake with a god awful amount of writing and everything has been great.
Their buttercream is to die for and they will give you exactly what you ask for. It’s reasonably priced they’ve come through with just a day notice.
I’ve been coming here for 20 years and will be coming for another 20!

Ordered cupcakes for a gender reveal party. They were amazing! Only one cupcake had the gender color filling which made it so much fun to find out. The staff was kind and was one of few bakeries that would actually do this request for me. The theme was bows or bowtie and the cupcakes looked great. I will go back for whatever else I need. Oh and p. s the Bowtie won!

When it comes to the quintessential birthday cake, you have to get it from Reuter’s.
All my birthday cakes since I was a baby have been purchased from Reuter’s (and I wish there was a way to add photos on here, because I can show you some darling cakes from when I was two and three years old). My favorite is the yellow cake with buttercream frosting and fresh strawberry filling.
There’s no bakery on my side of town that can write such beautiful script in piped frosting. Perfection (and shows years of expertise).
