My favorites are the chicken tortellini, chicken vesuvio, and the shrimp salad! Kinda pricy but the food is well worth it and the portion sizes fill you up.

Dont let the name fool you. This place is 100% MEXICAN. Once i recalibrated my taste buds for Mexican, I did ok. Food was very good. Clean place with friendly people

There are usually two types of Mexican restaurants: very colorful vibrant themed atmospheres that distract you from the subpar food and dirty hole in the walls with décor that makes no logical sense and a lack of cleanliness that makes you cringe until you try the food. This was a dirty hole in the wall with few decent dishes and some not so good dishes and horrible service! I would hardly say my first impression was good. My hubs was ready to leave based on his first impression but I was hungry and it was a holiday weekend so not much else was open. If the weather was warmer I would have been greeted by flies before I was greeted by any staff. We sat ourselves after 5 minutes of standing around trying to figure out who worked here. Our table was dirty… but it was less dirty than the other tables, it would have to do. The waitress was the slowest ever, it took far too long to come greet us at the table we sat at and far too long to bring us menus, then a beyond acceptable wait time for her to return to take our order. Really?!? There was like ONE other table seated! The menu was a hot mess; Italian style pasta, seafood AND traditional Mexican fare. Too much. Aside from the service sucking arse my other peeves were: the soda was canned, my water came in a dirty glass(none of the replacements were really much cleaner), all my utensils looked like they fought lost a fight with the garbage disposal and were bent and the complimentary chips were beyond greasy… gross. The only thing this place had going for it was the food I paid for, which came out lightening fast once our order was placed. The chicken fajita’s were pretty good and the hubby’s chicken enchiladas were equally good. Unless I’m lost, starving and the restaurant next door is closed, I would never eat here again.

I’ve passed through this block a million times and never thought twice to check this place out. My friend took me for lunch it’s his hidden gem… He ordered. We had shrimp in a langostino sauce for appetizer served with garlic bread. Not on the menu but please try it. Wow… This sauce is worth a million dollars. It’s orange juice, garlic, red pepper and a few other things I can’t pick out. You dip the garlic bread in the sauce. Had I been alone I may have licked the plate! Then I had ceviche the Pescado. I felt like the lemon juice tasted a bit artificial. Next I had coctel de Camaron, I added in Valentina and I was super happy! Finished off with a topo Chico mineral water for healthy carbonation. Finally, I was so full that I hated myself.

Yes, it is a little hole on the wall place but it my favorite! The Italian food is absolutely delicious. My favorite would be the appetizers, but that is because I am a sucker for calamari. I have had a ton of Calmari in my day but this is by far the best!!! I cannot rave enough about the sauce that it is jn. If you want some unique and delicious food, you need to try some here. Don’t let the atmosphere deceive you!

Better than expected. With El Faro being closed, it was a nearby offering. A little leery after noticing the lack of reviews, but we stopped in for lunch anyway. Decent sized dining area, plenty of room for a group. Consistent service throughout. Complimentary chips and salsa were solid. The chips weren’t hot out of the fryer, but they were fresh, and obviously made in-house that day. The salsa was a break from the ordinary. Not your typical red or green, more of a chipotle-style, flame-gilled pepper salsa with a decent kick. Ordered their vegetarian burrito, and left Langostinos with a smile. Not the biggest on the southside, but well constructed, well seasoned, and proportionately priced at $ 4.50. My friend’s steak torta was just as well received. Menu is pretty big, complete with American and Italian offerings to compliment their abundance of traditional Mexican fare. First time visit was definitely a success. Worthy a recommendation and second visit…

Very diner-esque with a huge menu. Gloomy atmosphere with weird wood paneling. Waitress service, despite cafeteria-looking counter. Food was A-OK. The husband had huevos Mexicanos, and said they were good. My burrito was OK. Nothing special. If you are in the neighborhood and El Faro is closed or full, this place is OK. They have some vegetarian offerings. Street parking.
