This was my first time having Chicago deep dish pizza and I am impressed. I am from New York and take pizza pretty seriously. I had the sausage and pepperoni. I was a little annoyed that you can’t add your own toppings but other than that, the pizza was great. The sauce was extremely flavorful.

I always travel through Chicago, but I never get to visit the grand city. I have always wanted to try an authentic deep-dish pizza. Unfortunately, this is the closest I will get to the real thing. Every time I am in the Ohare Airport, I stop by Reggio’s. There is always pizza ready and a decent value. I always get a consistent product here and I will continue to eat here every time I pass through.

The good news is that the pizzas are hot and ready to go with no waiting. Pricing is okay for airport food– about nine bucks after tax for a personal pan size pizza. The flavors in the cheese, tomato sauce and sausage are fine but the crust is a disappointingly bland and pasty substitute. I had hoped for a Chicago Style deep dish crust and that is not really available at Reggio’s in the airport. The search continues. Safe travels.

Had a lay over in Chicago and I thought I would try their famous hot dog. It looked really good and you know it really was very good. It was spendy but that’s the airport for you. I’m glad I tried it though. You should too!

I’m not sure based on some of the reviews if Reggios’s is inconsistent or what. The pizza I had was far better than an airport pizza has a right to be! I’ve been to both New York and Chicago and ate at many of the«Top 10» pizza places on the various lists and left disappointed with many. And had some awesome experiences as well. Given the location and mixed reviews I was pleasantly surprised to get the classic Chicago deep dish experience. Mine was not too heavy by Chicago Deep Dish standards but nicely crisp crust on the outside with plenty of cheese, well spiced sauce, and generous amount of toppings.

Haha, I have read some of these reviews, and I am not sure how to respond to some of these besides … «this is airport food». Does it excuse them from some of their misgivings? Sure it does. They have to create a decent product with equipment and in conditions that are challenging. Does this mean you should get a crap product. Definitely not; but don’t expect to dine at an airport establishment and get«The Best(Fill-in-the-Blank) of Your Life». Food: My Chicago Deep Dish Pizza with Sausage and pepperoni was EXACTLY what I wanted. The flavor was on-point(for an airport). The cheese was hot, melty, and fresh. Mind you, I made them give me the one that just came out of the oven :-), but that is neither here nor there. The meats were awesome. I LOVE it when the pepperoni gets a little bit crispy around the edges, and this pie had that going on. It was excellent. The dough was soft, fresh, and had a great flavor to it. The sauce did not taste fresh, per se; but it had nice flavor that really complimented the rest of the pie. Overall, I have to say, this pizza really hit the spot at 8:00 at night in between a flight from Harrisburg, PA to SF, CA. It was an airport pizza, it fully met my expectations, and then some… Food: 5⁄5 Service: After getting a little bit of a stink-eye for requesting the fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza, everything else seemed to be pretty much what I would have expected. If you don’t want people eating the fresh pizza, wait to put it out until the other stuff is gone. Geesh. Service: 3⁄5 Atmosphere: This is a N/A category in this particular review. I will not penalize them for being in one of my least liked airports in the country. Atmosphere: N/A Price: My pizza came to $ 8(ish). For the quantity and the quality, I feel as if that was a very good price. It filled me up, I was completely satisfied, and it tasted great. Lastly, for an airport, I don’t feel as if I was gouged out of my mind. I would have even paid up to $ 10 for this. Price: 4⁄5 Final Thoughts: Actually, I have eaten at Reggio’s a couple of times on my way through O’Hare, and I have never been disappointed or received a product that i felt was way out of line. I have always gotten consistently good pizzas, that are pretty authentic — especially for airport food. If you are in the mood for some good Chicago-style pizza, you won’t go wrong here.

Love this pizza!!! The best deep dish for me in Chicago and a MUST when I go through the O’hare airport. The pizza isn’t bared down with the dough like all other Chicago based pizzas. Great cheese and ingredients. 5 stars for taste alone!

Amazingly good pizza for one being from the airport. They even made me a fresh one with meat and veggies. 7.99 dollars. Worth it!

On any given day, your experience could obviously vary. Hot dog in Terminal 3(American Airlines) food court was mushy. Like someone had taken pureed baby food and stuffed it into a hot dog casing. It was so disgusting that I did something I’ve never done in a food court before, I took it back. Their response, «Oh, that was an old one, we just put in some new ones» and offered me a new one. At this point the idea of eating any hot dog was very offputting, and of course the new hot dogs apparently went into the same water that had held the old ones, so I gave them back their old hot dog and took a refund.

3.6 stars! Quite pricey but it was the airport so that’s expected. Excellent crunchy and chewy-on-the-inside crust. Very unique and I liked it! Perfect for the munchies when changing flights! Even the stewardess commented that she wanted some. :P

Picked up a spinach and tomato pizza during a stopover. I figured that deep dish pizza was a Chicago thing so it might be worth a try. It wasn’t bad for airport food… and definitely better than Pizza Hut. Then again, it was a bit more expensive than Pizza Hut too. Worth trying if you need food in O’Hare between flights.

Reggio’s: Missed my connection by 5 minutes through O’Hare, and was left with a few hour layover. Had considered speeding up time by consuming inordinate amounts of local craft beers, but instead decided on food and desert. And since I was in Chicago, why not grab some deep dish pizza? Reggio’s is a quick stop pizza joint in the Jazz Food Court in Terminal C. It’s about $ 6 – 8 bucks for a personal deep dish pizza. Honestly, the best part of this pizza was the crust. The cheese was blah, the sauce was blah, the whole thing was blah except for the ranch dressing, which was likely hidden valley, and at least covered up the taste of the rubbery cheese. The crunch of the crust was good, and that’s about all. I’d say pass, unless you were working on my other strategy, in which case this pizza might gain exponentially in taste. 2 stars.

Reggio’s Chicago Style Pizza(ORDUAL Terminal #1). Famous«Butter Crust». On a layover, I decided to try their Deep Dish Deluxe Veggie Pizza($ 7.45), for breakfast, at 7:45am. I was contemplating trying a Chicago Dog of theirs, but the dogs weren’t ready. I do have to admit, that the pizza was pretty good and I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again, no matter what time of day or night it is.

It was 10am in the morning and I was planning on what to eat during my 8 hour flight. Thankfully Reggio’s was around to serve lunch and not just breakfast. They had sausages, English muffins, pizza, and deep dish pizza. I ordered up a mushroom, pepperoni, sausage and cheese pizza. It was delicious! The crust was very buttery and made all the difference. Plus it was enough to last me two meals on my flight! For $ 8, it was definitely better than the $ 10 turkey sandwich the airlines were charging on the flight!

I don’t know — but maybe some folks are being a bit too harsh? I flew in from Miami — and I’m telling you, we have a dearth of Chicago style deep dish pizzas. In fact, I think there’s a dearth of them anywhere in the country since I normally hear about the New York slice than the Chicago slice. At least Chicago can keep the claim on their dogs which I see more of than the Coney Island dogs. Either way — after eating deep dish pizzas that taste like crap in Houston, in Miami, I had lost hope. And then after eating the sourdough crush deep dish in San Francisco at Little Star, I started loving the deep dish idea again. And yes, I’ve never been to Chicago before. And yes, I do plan to go around the city one day. But this wasn’t the day… So when I saw that they had deep dish pizza in the airport where I was in the layover… IN Chicago, I couldn’t pass. And I didn’t have so high of an expectation either — since right when I deboarded, I asked an airport worker if there was deep dish pizza somewhere inside — and she said«not really but there’s something like it — it just won’t be as good as any outside of the airport.» And so I sighed, but still — would I rather NEVER eat a deep dish INSIDE Chicago? And instead eat plane food? Hell no — I’m getting that deep dish! And so I lined up at Reggio’s — and finally learned why the others had it wrong. It was the butter crust that made a difference, as much as it was the sourdough crust that made a difference in the deep dish in San Francisco. The rest of the stuff in the pizza, anyone can get it right. And despite what other reviewers are saying — I can definitely taste the butter crust. Maybe it’s because of all the times I’ve eaten flavorless crust deep dish in the past that allows me to know the difference? Honestly, I don’t know. And it was good. Not bad, not great — but still I had my fix of a good pizza(somewhat greasy — but can’t always complain about the grease you know — especially if you’re talking about butter). And of course, I coupled it with a dog to round up my short Chicago experience.

Okay, so I can say I ate deep dish pizza in Chicago… the Chicago airport that is. While Hostage Gastronome went to the burrito place next door, I cleverly waited for a whole personal sized deep dish pizza. «Waited» is the main part of the experience, and the cleverness was on Reggio’s part because by the time it was my turn, I jumped at the only one left. It claimed to be butter crust, but I couldn’t taste any, the mushrooms were canned, and I can’t even remember if it was pepperoni or sausage, only that it must have been meat of inferior quality. I agree with Penguin S. that it lacked tenderness and sauce — could have been sitting out awhile. I don’t know if there was a sudden rush, but their assembly line seemed to be breaking down. I’m not giving up — maybe someday I’ll have the real Chicago deep dish experience.

I had a deep-dish personal sausage pizza at the Reggio’s between the H & K concourses last Wednesday evening.(I didn’t see a separate Unilocal listing for this place; only for the one apparently on C concourse.) It was delicious! They advertised their regular pizzas as «butter crust» … but I suspect the deep-dish versions also use the same dough, as it was luscious. Although the deep-dish is about 50 cents more expensive, I think you get much more cheese and topping than in the regular version, which has a bulbous 1-inch crust-only area around the perimeter. The 7-inch-diameter deep-dish pizza has a very thin crust with an inch-high vertical exterior wall like a tart pan. Mine was filled to the brim with melted cheese and loads of small-marble-sized spheres of sausage(see my photo). It was cut into 8 slices, and it could have easily served two, maybe three.(But I’m such a thrifty pig, I ate it all! Yummm!) My pizza cost nearly $ 8, including tax. High prices are the norm in airports, so I don’t hold that against this Reggio’s. I noticed that there were a number of pizzas at the counterthat had already been cooked and could be taken immediately. Some looked like they’d been there quite a while. Fortunately, there were no deep-dish sausage pizzas ready, so I had to wait a few miniutes … but got a freshly cooked pizza that was well worth the extra time. The server/cashier was initially abrupt, as you often see in hustle/bustle airport environment. But she became much more friendly as I waited for my pizza to be cooked. Whenever I travel through Chicago in the future, I’ll plan to be hungry.
