This review is for the restaurant, which we really enjoyed. Potatoes, chebureky, the pickled plate and mushroom julien were delish. Chicken kebab came with a very tasty home made hot sauce. Cherry vareniki were very good. Tea and Napoleon great. Everything tasted homemade, fresh. Lots of Russians here and for a good reason — authentic good food. Everyone was extremely friendly, very attentive and helpful. The owner stopped by a few times to check in and chat. Kids loved everything as well. Great experience overall. We did not use the spa but did walk through it to check it out. As the other reviewers noted, the women’s side is tiny, the men’s side, according to my husband, is bigger, but compared to King Spa, the place is small. We will def be back for the restaurant.

All spa services and sauna are just great! BUT! Every time I come in I have bad experiences at the restaurant. The kitchen work very slow, I was waiting for my dumplings 30 mins, even there was only two tables besides mine. I’m sure it never takes so long. Also my «to go» food was ready 10 mins earlier then food that I ordered to eat. Isn’t it unprofessional? Btw you guys also need somebody else to work for all day shifts, not just one bartender. There is always not enough ppl.

this is the Russian version of King Spa(for those of you in the know) it is one step better as it has alcohol from a full bar, and great Russian food. It goes an even another step better for those of you who are cigar aficionados because it has a roof top deck with a heated gazebo in which you can lounge in a robe while sipping a scotch and smoking a cigar and no one will be offended. it had massages which are great and reasonably priced, it has an area where you can hang out all day and do work on your laptop. it has a men’s side a woman’s side and a coed area to hang out together. frankly I can’t envision a better local to relax and do work at or just plain relax.

Came here with my boyfriend while on vacation in Chicago. We purchased groupons for spa entrance/pedicures and food($ 20 for $ 40 worth of food) we also added on massages. We both agreed the massages were amazing, especially after biking around the city all afternoon! We chose to enjoy the separate male and female spas, both of which were very clean, nice relaxing. The staff were all quite welcoming and accommodating, even though we came with groupons. The food we ordered was excellent as well– veal varenyky and beef stronganoff were filling and flavorful! My only complaints were there were some children running around and chatting in the spa area so that kinda ruined the ambiance. Also the lady who did my pedicure suggested I add on a mani as well, I asked if there would be enough time before my massage and she said yes but rushed through it and the polish didn’t turn out very nice so it felt like a waste of money. I would still return next time I visit Chicago and I recommend Red Square to others!

ALWAYS amazing. Great, great food. Lambchops, chopped salad and fish soup are killer. They don’t juice which would be nice so I just have them throw the cold borsch in a pint and head down to chicagos best cold plunge pool. There is some coed, but no coed(or women’s for that matter) cold plunge, which is a little bit of a bummer. New café area is awesome. Enjoy

I came here with my friend from Cali, and I had a deal here. I have only been to Russian Tea Time once so I figure I was long overdue for some Russian food. It felt like the food was pretty authentic. I haven’t ever had homemade Russian food so I have no real basis for comparison, but it felt homelike. It’s such an interesting place because the spa is connected, and the concept of eating and relaxing are truly combined here. I see people from the spa sitting and having a meal at the café in their robes and it’s perfectly normal. The food was all very tasty, and the prices were reasonable. We certainly got our waitress working as she helped us quite a bit with recommendations.

Very cool relaxing spot in the heart of the city. There is a nice culture within the spa, have not seen any pervert lurker types, lets hope they keep it that way!

My friends and I had a great time there. Sauna to detox and then some great Russian food. Our waiter Anton was the sweetest ever.

Seems like this place was a little hidden since there was absolutely no sign for the entrance which I thought was kinda cool. Right when you walk in it automatically feels like you are in a completely different country.- probably what they were going for. Well if you book a service you get 50% off entry. So it’s only 15. Unilocal also has a 5 $ off entry so make sure you use that too! Right away i booked a service for my nails. Only 40 $ for a no chip which was pretty cool. The boyfriend had a massage so I went to the bar and ordered a makers on the rocks and they gave it to me in a plastic cup do I could bring it downstairs into the saunas. It’s cool because they have phones all over the place to order service. Ordered the salmon n cream cheese. Salad. Chicken sandwich… They were all pretty gross except for the fish n cream cheese…-I love cream cheese! Maybe I’m spoiled because of king spa but this place was tiny. Food wasn’t that great and drinks were okay. The Moscow mule was pretty legit tho!.. I would actually come here again but if I had to choose between this place or king spa. 100% would go to niles for kind spa!

Very unique place, and a great experience for wintertime Chicago that doesn’t solely involve 1) drinking, 2) eating, or 3) sports(basically what people do in the winter in this semi-Arctic city). Pros: fun experience, great«man time», many options(Turkish, dry sauna, steam room, hot tub, etc.), great deals on alcohol at the bar(Vodka flight is amazing, and a ridiculous deal), TVs in the resting area playing European sports. Cons: all the saunas were WAY too hot for me to enjoy(most people seemed fine, so it’s possible I’m a huge wuss). Food is expensive. I will definitely be back.

Yikes this place serves good borscht! I had the hot version which has a beef base and is brimming with sliced vegetables and cabbage. It’s perfectly seasoned and served with a dollop of sour cream swimming on top. It comes with terrific dark bread that has a slightly sour taste. Needless to say, it goes well with the borscht. This is top notch borscht and the presentation couldn’t be any better. Cheese blintzes were nicely browned and filled with sweet farmer’s cheese. I was wondering if I’d have to ask for jam to smear on top – not to worry, the blintzes come with cherry sauce and sour cream to use for toppings. Add that cherry sauce to the dark bread and you have dessert. The café, located on the main floor of the former Russian and Turkish Bathhouse, now a spa, is an odd but not off-putting place. In true Soviet style, the people who work here tend to mill about and talk to each other in Russian. There’s soccer on TV. But the waitress who came over to serve me was as pleasant as pleasant could be, and we soon bonded over our love of Russian food. True, people from the spa are padding about in bathrobes and bare feet(maybe they should require flip flops in the restaurant) — but that’s what you do when you visit a shvitz. Bottom line – although mild HPT might deter me from using the steam room, nothing will deter me from returning to the café to try other dishes. I have the cold borscht also served here now in my sights.

I love this place! It’s a restaurant attached to the spa serving delicious Russian food and drinks. I went there twice for lunch and dinner. The service was friendly and helpful both times. The décor is very nice and authentic. The atmosphere is classy yet relaxing and unpretentious. The food is good and the price is reasonable. The vegetable borscht was just absolutely amazing! Cabbage wraps(with meat inside) and Russian potato dumplings were also super delicious. Everything I had tried there so far has been just delicious. It has definitely become my go to Russian restaurant.

I had a mojito to drink, eggs and potato pancakes, hot borscht, and I split a Greek salad with a friend. Food was good(borscht was excellent) and the service was great! Why leave the spa when you can get great service and good food on site?

Interesting concept because it’s a spa and restaurant! So it does kind of smell like hair chemicals but the food is really good. Their cabbage rolls and beef stroganoff are really good! Portions are kind of small but overall it was a good experience.

My overall impression: very so-so. The atmosphere is a mix of sports bar and cafeteria. Food was ok, but not great. The server was nice and got our food out quickly. I asked about desert and he didn’t offer the unlisted dessert even though I saw it being delivered to another table. I am not impressed and am in no rush to come back.

Excellent value for $ with excellent quality and portion. One of the few venues that still serves gratis bread and butter. Pan Fried Potato — very simple. 4 servings per order. Great as a side dish or ordered with Kremlin Wings. Only a few mushrooms with it, but good enough for flavor. Beef Stroganoff — delicious! Looks like a beef stew. Uniform beef slices. The sauce is great for dipping. With another side dish, serves 2. Special Russian Tea — good taste balance, not strong nor weak. Coffee — Julius Meinl brand. Dessert — Napoleon is unlisted. A complicated mix of texture that it feels like custard yet there are levels of phyllo dough. Addictive. Russian Tea($ 9 cocktail — Nemeroff honey pepper vodka, spiced simple syrup, black tea, orange peel) — definitely strong and unbalanced. All you need is one! Venue — relax and comfortable. The inner area mimics a train car. Cool. Service — pleasant and informative. When there are lots of patrons, patience is appreciated. NOTETOREDSQUARE: Invest in 2 portable, wireless ordering system for efficiency.
