The food is ok, the posole was bland but not terrible. I wish i would have listened to the previous reviews and just skipped this place in general. The server herself was not bad, but we waited 15 minutes after being finished eating to even ask her for a check, then it took another 15 minutes to receive the check.

A great neighborhood joint. The pozole is worth trying all three flavors. It’s in a sketchy part of West Humboldt Park, but don’t let the location deter you from tasty food.

Ok. Let me start off by saying hooowwwww excited I was about this place. Coming from a super Mexican traditional household, posole is a huge staple. HUGE! And my mother and sister have mastered his amazing stew. I looked up a few places for posole and this by far had the best ratings. I dragged my boyfriend here on a Saturday afternoon and raved about how amazing his first posole experience would be.(he’s white). Welp. We both ordered the large chile rojo posole and let’s just say I was far from thrilled or excited. The flavors were very bland, very little spice and almost no salt. I was so disappointed. The portion was a good size but because it wasn’t very good, I didn’t eat much of it. Maybe they were having a bad day? I’m tempted to try again. Maybe.

Good flavor, but for the price not, Only a few small pieces of meat in the pozole soup, even the large soup.

The green pozole was great. The coffee was good with a hint of cinnamon just the way I like it. Definitely going back to try the pozole blanco and rojo.

This place is awsome, I had the pozole rojo(red pozole) and I must say it’s a very close 2nd place to my mama’pozole. The hominy was not from a can, which is evident by the taste. I recommend this for a pozole craving.

We saw this place on Check Please. Im not sure how this place has four stars but it shouldn’t. And if makes a difference to anyone I am Mexican. First off the salsas were okay and there was one red one awful, it tasted like it had piccalilli in it. The pozole is okay. On the bland side. The pierna tostada cold as in the meat was cold. The carne asada taco was also just okay, the al pastor taco meat was crunchy it was so over cooked. A few reviews below talk about over priced quesadillas and using chihuahua cheese, THECHEESEISMUNSTERNOTCHIHUAHUA!!! Huge difference. There are literally hundreds of fabulous Mexican dives in this city and this is a dive with mediocre food at best. Skip it and keep going!!!

Not bad, it’s a nice little place. Could be a little bigger as far as the seating arrangement goes. However the Salad is pretty good and so is the Fruit. Unfortunately that was all I could have cuz I had already eaten earlier and we we’re going for an Early Father’s Day Dinner. But I would be back.

I thought I was eating good Mexican food in Phoenix, but no way, this Mexican food was the best Mexican food I’ve eaten in a long time. sorry to my wife there — but I’m talking about food that I’ve eaten at restaurants. At this my wife pipes in «the beans are real!», and I know that’s about the best thing any five foot nothing Latina can say about a Mexican restaurant. I had a wet burrito with carne asada, a couple people in the group at posole blanco, and there was the ever-present carne asada tacos. let’s hear it for the tacos! All I can say is what I said earlier: this is about the best Mexican food I’ve had in a restaurant in my entire life. I’d rate this a 10 out of 10, definitely would do it again. Price wise six of us ate for about 60 bucks.

The green pozole is perfect tastes just like my mothers. This is definitely the place to come for the green one. I tried the red pozole and I didn’t care for it.

I love this place! Whenever I’m in the mood for posole/pozole I come here. They have 3 varieties red, green, & white. I always get the red with chicken. The portions are big. I always leave with leftovers. It’s about $ 10 for one I think. It’s been a while since I’ve been out that way. Totally worth it though. They give you generous amounts of radish, cabbage and lime too. Dammit, now I want some!!! But definitely stop in if you’re feeling in the mood for some posole/pozole.

Pozole in good but for the price just make it yourself. They give you a small bowl that’s supposedly a large, they charge about $ 2 for tostadas, aguacate, chicharrón like that’s supposed to come with it.

Pozole that hits the spot! They have pozole in green, red, and white, and you can it in regular(pork) or with chicken. They also have other awesome mexican food! Tried their sopes de carne asada. I don’t know what they season their carne asada with, but it might as well be crack because its that good and makes you wanna go for more! Small crammed place, but that’s just how the building was set up long before they were there. Stop by and you won’t be dissapointed!

COMPETENTPOZOLE, AVAILABLEDAILY, WEEKENDS24HRS! Pozole in three varieties(red, white, green) comes loaded with hominy, pork, and the extras(including pork rinds and avocado). But the red broth at least was a bit thin and lacking the silky unctuousness that characterizes the best pozole. And while it was competently seasoned, it was also lacking depth. Garnishes were fresh and plentiful, and there was a basket of tostadas to help you push things around in the bowl. Shaker on table held dried oregano that was powdery and dull. The house-made tamarindo was far better than Jarritos. Smoky red salsa served with basket of chips passes the test. Decent service, good street parking.

Obviously this place is known for their Pozole, which is what I stick to… not picky about my pozole so I do enjoy it when I’m in the mood for it… some of the other entrees are a bit overpriced especially for a restaurant that is in the ghetto… okay a little vent here. they claim they have«quesadillas» the«s» in the end indicates its a plural for $ 3.50.usually when we go with our toddler, she will eat a quesadilla. when we asked how many there were, the waitress claims only one. and its only done in a corn tortilla. so we get ONE corn tortilla with Chihuahua Cheese rolled in half. and this equals to $ 3.50. can we say overpriced?(at least a flour tortilla is usually bigger in circumference) their coffee is GOOD if you like the Mexican version with a hint of cinnamon in it. However, PLEASE pay attention to the way they bill you… I recently noticed that they charge $ 1 for the chips and salsa. even though we never asked them to bring us chips…(not a fan. and feel I stuff myself with them even before the food arrives so I tend to avoid them) I find it deceitful that they bring something out and make it seem its complimentary when in reality they are charging you for it. I am no cheapskate but I am also not of the idea that I should be charged for something without my consent. If they are going to charge for chips and salsa they should disclose it prior to putting it on our tables… So for that bad practice alone they lose most stars… Also.the waitresses are a hit or miss… they are either attentive or completely in their own world

I’m not a big soup fan, but we wanted to try this place out since seeing it on tv. Walking in we thought it was all filled up, but we sat at the last table. There is extra seating up the stairs. I thought hominy was a type of bean til my guy said it’s some type of corn. I’m such a newb. So, I went with the Pozole Rojo and my guy went with the Menudo. They sure fill up with the hominy and meat and then you have all the side options. I actually wished it had less and a bit more soup. The flavoring was good, but I didn’t really care for the hominy. Didn’t really have much taste and it was hard/chewy texture. I wouldn’t make a trip just for it, but if I was in the area, I would go back.
