So happy that there’s a place where I can get fresh siopao and other Filipino snacks. The Lola(grandmother) who works the counter is the sweetest lady and talks to everyone like she really is their grandmother…“why don’t you get some cheesebread for your son?” «what? why don’t you speak Tagalog?» The store layout is small but it’s very clean and tidy. On one side you have Filipino snacks – chips and cookies – and almost every mix in you need to make Halo Halo at home. There is also a small selection of pancit noodles, sauces, and other dry staples for Filipino home cooking. The bakery counter holds fresh siopao(steamed pork or chicken buns), empanadas(baked meat and potato filled pastries), cheese bread(think ensemada but better!) and in the cooler there is lecheflan, pandan desserts, egg custards and some fruit juices and soda. The siopao is really good – the dough is perfectly soft and doughy. I wish the pork or chicken had a little more flavor, but that dough really makes up for it. I didn’t really care for the empanada, I think fried is better. And the cheese bread – lightly sweet dough with a bit of mild cheese in the center is delicious. The prices are cheap, making it a very affordable snack place. I just wish they had more Filipino beverages to go along with those snacks.

If you want honesty, this is the place to go. If you want consistent taste, this is the place to go. My mother and I have frequented here ever since we stumbled upon it a couple months back. Owner is so kind, and more importantly, she takes kind critiques at heart to really make their products awesome. My fave: empanada, cheese bread, and mango and ube cheesecake.

The baked goods was really good there. Pisyang Snacks has a wide variety of snacks to choose from, like empanada and sweet tarts. Overall, the siopao is my favorite snack there. The best place for traditional filipino to go to snacks!

I finally got a chance to stop by and pick up some snacks. The person at counter was very sweet, patient and informative. I bought some jackfruit, durian and coconut tarts, siopao. Also some purple yam cheesecake. It was all delicious. I’ll be back!

So I finally found a place where I can get fresh siopao, I have to say this is thee best I had so far. I also recommend the cheese bread, empanada and the mango cheesecake was outstanding. The people here are extremely nice and helpful. This will be my go to spot for Filipino treats.

This afternoon I passed by a new place called Pisyang Snacks, on Montrose a bit east of Pulaski. Apparently this Filipino bakery has been around for a week or so, and can form a good Filipino culinary combination if you are also getting a pile of food from nearby Ruby’s. Displayed are some intriguing offerings such as oval-shaped tarts bundled in colorful wrappers. I ordered a chicken empanada, and the pleasant fellow gave me two(apparently clearing out for the day soon?). The empanada contained bits of chicken, peas and carrots, and the crust was almost like a crisp and sweet thin cookie. I also ordered a muffin-shaped bun topped with cheese and sugar(I believe it is called a cheese ensaymada) that was fairly tasty. I’m not sure if the guy was giving me a closing time price break, but the two empanadas and one bun cost under two bucks total, a bargain. I will be back here to try some other treats.
