Been going there for breakfast for a long time. Great food great staff very friendly and now that they are serving alcohol I’ll be back many times.

Got brunch here on Valentine’s Day at this cozy little hole in the wall in Pilsen. They gave all the ladies a tulip which I thought was such a sweet gesture. Everyone was friendly, cool art on the walls, good coffee. Only downside was that the food was a bit cold — the fruit topping they put on must have come straight from the fridge so my French toast was cold. Overall it seems like a good place to keep in mind for weekend brunches because it didn’t seem to be as crowded during brunch hours as I was used to on a Sunday.

Friendly staff, nice calm place for brunch. Dissapointed because I came here to try the coffee infused pancakes and it turns out they don’t make them anymore! :( I tried the steak skillet and my boyfriend the omelette. It’s nothing special. Skillet wasn’t even in a skillet. For me, it lacked flavor. But they have a really good café Azteca! I would return only for a coffee date,.

The décor is nice and the service is also great. The food just fell flat. I ordered a steak skillet, which was a bit too salty but otherwise rather bland. I also ordered a side of pancakes, as did my date, but they were very dry. I mean they tasted OK, but they literally crumbled as you tried to get a piece with a fork.

I’d like to give this a higher review, but I can’t. I’ll definitely come back for a second opinion at a later time. For the price, the amount and quality of food is quite good. However what really hurts this place is the inconsistent server quality. Tweak the service, and another star pops up. We had 3 servers helping maybe 8 tables in the entire place and they were really struggling to keep up. It’s clear that they wanted to do a good job, but they didn’t have the experience or training to help them. I’d add another star if the bathrooms were of higher quality. As it stands, I didn’t even like looking at the light switch in there as years of dirt and germs appear to be caked on.

Very cool place to eat breakfast or brunch. The owner is very nice and personable. The place is cute and we were seated right away. You MUSTTRY the Azteca coffee. I loved it so much I tried to make it at home but it was not the same ATALL. LOL. I been there twice and the owner remembered my boyfriend and I. The prices are right and I even hear they have some night time fun. The owner was so sweet he said he would love my business VIP Paints to come there to do a paint and brunch event.

First time at Pilsen breakfast and grill and can honestly say it was a delightful experience. The staff was attentive and the food was comforting. The restaurant has a great vibe. They have two main windows that open up and let you overlook toward the street, it also allows a great breeze to enter the room. I ordered the pancakes for my self, steak salad for my youngest son and French toast for my oldest son. Every item was full of flavor and the portions were very generous. Would definitely recommend and will be returning soon. Per recommendation of the chef I tried the fruit French toast to go and they were so good, can’t wait to come back.

Do NOT come to this place if you have somewhere to be in an hour. It seems like an in and out breakfast spot, but I swear we never get out of here in under an hour. I like that they serve Intelligentsia coffee and have been generally pleased with the breakfast menu(fried eggs, omelettes, hash browns, and pancakes). They’re not next level amazing, but for the price it’s solid. However, based on my 5-ish visits, the service is consistently friendly but slow at every step of the way — getting your order in, coffee filled, food coming out, table clearing, getting the check — there are always lags. We’ve been there, totally done eating, and spent 10+ minutes trying to flag down a server for the check while people stood by the door waiting for a table. Also, I had a drink spilled on me once which fine, whatever, things happen — but all these incidents just make me feel like they need to train people better and get a better sense of how to efficiently run things. Overall, I come back because I live in the area, but this is not a place I’d seek out if I didn’t live nearby.

Pilsen was a great breakfast treat at a good value for the size and quality of their dishes. Would definitely go again!

This place sucks, like with the burn of a million flames sucks. Went here for breakfast some weeks ago because I couldn’t find a place I wanted to have breakfast at originally. The place was not even half way packed but you would think they were giving away free money with the amount of time it took to receive your food. The waitresses were nice and were attentive which is good but the first of their MANY mistakes is that someone who came in after me and ordered their food after me received their food first. I first thought, ok, maybe their meal was easier to cook but no, the waitress claimed that the order was never printed and the food is coming out slowly because they only had 2 cooks at that time. So after say about an HOUR of waiting I finally asked to see the manager. At first he seemed pleasant, all goody goody, but that wore off fast as he offered me toast for my wait. Not a discount BUTTOAST. I declined and asked for a discount(I was really hungry) and was given the ok to receive one. So my food gets there and it looks like a meal from Cook Country Jail. The only thing editable was the hash browns that came with my sausage and pancakes which looked like black frisbees. Oh and the discount was $ 1.10 off of my entire meal. Safe to say, this place sucks.

The first time we dined here was by sheer accident. It was on a Sunday morning a month ago and there was one other couple that was also having breakfast at the time. Our server was very delightful and attended well to our table, always keeping our glasses full. We found our orders to be good and fulling. The only negative was that the pancakes were not worth having. But, all in all, a good experience. My partner came back a week later and found it to be a drastically different experience. His(3 ingredient) omelet was poorly made, as shown by the cold slice of cheese place underneath the top egg flap. On top of that, it was not good at all. Most recently, I dined there for a quick late breakfast/early lunch. There were a good five tables full, which made me smile given that there was only one other couple the last time I was there. I ordered the philly sandwich with a salad. After waiting for 20 minutes to get my food, the salad should never have been offered to anyone. While the dressing was put to the side, the bad lettuce leaves were dripping and made a small brown puddle on my plate. I did my best to put the leaves aside, but I was left with hardly a salad of any kind. Alas, the server noticed and offered to get me a new salad. However, it was the exact.same.problem. So, I gave up. As for the sandwich, I was surprised that they served a philly cheese sandwich between two regular slices of bread as opposed to a bun of any kind. It was okay but with one thing slice of steak, there was much to be desired; especially considering the bad salad that accompanied it. Needless to say, from the five stars we initially had on our first visit and each one of our terrible visits after that… Two stars.

Coffee at a breakfast place makes me a repeat customer, and Pilsen Breakfast and Grill serves Intelligentsia, which is perfect. So I dine here a lot. The first couple experiences were not great with service, but it seems like they have turned that around and gotten better at predicting how much staff they need for certain days. I really love their english muffin sandwich. the muffin really makes it and it’s delicious. I also frequently order omelets and french toast, which are both also very good.

The most horrible experience at a restaurant EVER! Went there today Sunday for brunch. We were a total of 4 people, stopped in at about noon for brunch. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated, then another 20 minutes to order a coffee. There was no sugar on the table we asked our server for sugar and she took so long that we got up to take some from the table next to us. By that time our coffees were cold. We ordered our food at the same time that we ordered our coffees. We could barely get our server to look our way. After waiting over 45 minutes we asked for a manager. The manager who didn’t even introduce himself came over to the table and stated he only had one cook and the tickets in the back somehow got messed up. He said our food would be up next and guaranteed that he would discount our tab for our patience. Another hour passed by and we still were not served. I have NEVER been to a restaurant where I had to wait over 2 hours to be served cold food. I ordered a steak and scrambled egg skillet. The eggs looked like a 5 year old made them under a parental supervision and the hash browns were under cooked. Finally we get our tab and there was no discount applied or anything. We had to talk to the manager again for him to only discount 8 dollars from a 70 dollar tab and still had the nerve to ask us to come back. RIDICULOUS! I would never come back here and surely will not recommend his place to anyone.

We waited 2 hours and 15 minutes for the food and the food wasn’t that good either. They even mixed up our order.

Cute interior. Our server was nice but they seemed to need more people working and there was obvious confusion in the kitchen. Luckily my breakfast was very good. Veggie skillet was delicious, lots of different veggies in it, more than were listed on the menu… a pleasant surprise. Eggs cooked perfectly. Freshly squeezed OJ. Came back for lunch another day and was served a regular burger instead of the veggie burger I ordered, I don’t make a big deal out of stuff like that but I could see someone freaking out over it. Also the regular burger did not look good, the veggie on the other hand was just okay. If you’re in the neighborhood, I’d come here for breakfast.

I tried this place for the first time today. The food was okay, the coffee was great, the staff very attentive and polite. The glassware used for the creamer could’ve been cleaner. I tend to notice small details like that. I did enjoy the experience enough to go eat here again.

This is a tale of one restaurant with a split personality. Personality #1 — We went in one Sunday, place was about ½ full. We received GREAT service and ate some good food. I had the veggie burger and fries — which was really good — I ate everything, including the fries. HE had an omelette which came with hashbrowns and pancakes — he also joined me in the clean plate club. Coffee was good — Intelligentsia. Our server was very attentive, as were the other people working that day. Personality #2 — We went in for lunch on a Wednesday, only 2 other tables seated. We were barely acknowledged, sat ourselves — server brought our menus — gets caught up trying to ring up 1 of the tables, we are still sitting there. She goes back and forth to the register, passing us each time — never says«I’ll be right with you» «just a minute, I will bring you water in a bit» — NADA As a matter of fact, she acts like we are not there. Other people working there just look at us, then look away. One guy brings over a chorizo omelette and asks if it’s ours. NO! We haven’t ordered ANYTHING, I say out loud… server still doesn’t say a word, come over to bring water or take our order. We walked out. So, will we ever return? No idea yet, right now I am too busy being upset.
