Walked in after work and sat down. They have a large sign that says if you want full service, seat yourself. Easy enough… 10 minutes later after no one bothered to say ‘Hi, can we get you some water? Would you like to order food?’, I left. There was one waitress worried about serving cans of beer and two dudes behind the take out counter and no one noticed the guy trying to spend money? Good luck staying open by selling cans of beer. Unless you get your act together, some other operation will be leasing your space by October!

Been here a few times before writing this. Service: Great! Friendly and attentive. Never an issue and never a wait for a seat. Can that be a clue? Food: Subpar. Tried a few different dishes. Bottom line, it’s awful bbq! Dry, rubbery, and flavorless. They must cook it too fast and use little or no seasoning. Burger is non-memorable. Wings are bland. The only decent dish I’ve found is the gumbo. It’s not superb, but way better than the bbq. You get a good amount of fries with a sandwich. That’s about it. Drinks: A handful of beers on tap. Average selection. Price: Over priced for what you get. If the food was outstanding it would be tolerable, but it isn’t. Bottom line: If you’re craving bbq go elsewhere. Blackwood has the recipe down and will delight. Just around the corner. To management/owners: Work on food quality!

I will never give them a penny on my generous day. For the price of the food you would think it would be of quality and yumminess, but it’s truly stupid. I ordered some wings and paid $ 11 and some change for 6 dry overcooked party wings. I’ve had the bridle before however it was nothing to rave about. I suggest avoiding this place, you’ll get more satisfaction from a burger at McDonalds. Thumbs down in my book.

I came here with my mother and we got the BBQ platter that had the pulled chicken, pulled beef, and the beef brisket. Our side item was mac and cheese. We also got an appetizer of the hot pretzel with cheddar cheese sauce. The BBQ was dry and flavorless, the mac and cheese had no flavor(we had to add the leftover cheddar cheese from the pretzel and we had to add lots of salt), and the customer service was bad. The waiter we had never smiled, she never thanked us and when my mom tried to hand her the bill, she seemed like that we were bothering her. She was eating her lunch behind the bar and she was not facing the bar. Blackwood BBQ down the street has way better BBQ and better service. We will not be coming here again.

Ate here a couple times before deciding to review… my first visit was the week they opened, and I ate again today. Both times were pretty terrible – at least as far as the BBQ goes. On my first visit, I had the brisket plate, and the meat was tough and under sauced. Today, I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was greasy, the bun was somewhat stale, and it way too much bread for the sandwich. And because they add the sauce to the sandwich themselves and don’t add enough, it was bland. This also meant that the top part of the bread was dry, while the grease soaking into the bottom piece made it a soggy mess. The sides were decent — I had the beans and cole slaw(gave me two after I ordered and paid for Mac & cheese, but they were out). Given that there is Blackwood a block away and Lilli’s Q in the French Market, I see no reason to eat this terrible BBQ instead of those better options.

Their dine in is definitely better than their take out, meat portions are generous and they give you a jar of sauce to pour on your own, I’ve only had the chicken here so cannot vouch for the brisket but chicken was flavorful, would recommend the salad or plate and a Mac and cheese side.

My perspective is not coming from the BBQ side but the salad side. I got the salad with pulled pork. I thought overall it was an excellent salad. It has all the necessary requirements: good amount of meat, lots of veggies, and filled me up The BBQ may not be as good as Blackwood’s but their salads are very good.

Pretty gross and dry brisket. Blackwood bbq is not far away so I suggest you walk a few blocks and get some more flavorful and cheaper bbq. The sauce options were lacking and I also felt it was expensive. I got the brisket platter which was really just slices of brisket and a really tiny side for $ 10. Most bbq places at least give you a slice of bread or a roll. I won’t be coming back even though its convenient :(I hope it shuts down and turns into something tastier.

Some of the worst BBQ I’ve had. Completely dry, rubbery brisket with almost no sauce. Got Mac & Cheese on the side which was also flavorless and dry. It’s not like it’s cheap either, some brisket and macaroni cost me $ 13, no drink or bread. The service was quick and friendly, but why bother when the food is so sub-par? Go to Blackwood instead, their brisket is infinitely better.

Simply not worth going to with Blackwood around the corner. Pulled pork not mixed well so huge chunks of fat stood out everywhere. Flavor not that good either.

Based on my discovery of Blackwood(see review), I definitely was excited to try Piggyback, another«fast casual» barbeque joint in the food court of Ogilvie. However, that excitement was soon extinguished by some bad BBQ — yes, it does exists. As Brian H. pointed out, the brisket was super dry. It was also flavorless — all that the barbeque sauce did was mask the dryness of the beef. The mac n cheese was also dry and flavorless as well. Finally, the corn«bread» I had — let’s just say that the chef must’ve forgotten to add an ingredient or two, because the consistency and flavor was definitely not«bread.» Service was great and friendly, which is why I can’t rate this place one star. But foodwise, Piggyback was horrible. If you want even DECENTBBQ, head elsewhere.

Tried Piggyback BBQ for the first time today and had the Beef Brisket Sandwich. Ehhhhh. It was dry no matter how much sauce you put on. The meat didnt even have smoke rings which is what shows if it was really smoked long enough. Come on guys even Arby’s brisket has smoke rings and actually taste a lot better. $ 10 bucks for a sandwich without sides this place was horrible and it took me 15 min to get my food just to slice and put on a bun with sauce thats it. I also tried the lime crema sauce for the tacos and it tasted like lime tatziki(gyro) sauce. Now I see why the review on the wells location is so bad too. Oh well. I tried. Brian
