We came on Saturday before Valentine’s day. So the restaurant was packed which helped delay services. We were seated right away. Then waiting game started. We had more than enough time to pick a glass of wine until our waiter finally found us. He was a friendly and helpful guy, providing us wine info, which would have probably been helpful if he came earlier — we already picked and were ready to order. After we ordered glasses, we again had a very long time until we actually could taste it. I could go back and forth between entrée choices. After maybe 20 minutes, our wine came. We did not miss this chance to order appetizer & main — Mare, Papadelle w Boar ragu, and Veal. MARE(Wood roasted prawns, calamari, octopus, clams, mussels, tomatoes, citrus oil, arugula), which came about 25 minutes later, was indeed delicious. Seafood is cooked perfectly and tasted very good with a bit bitter argula & citrus. Papadelle was rich and delicious as well. Unfortunately, with lots of waiting, I was no longer that hungry and I took it back home. Hope to come back on a non special weekend.

Booked this place for a bachelorette party this past weekend. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would, just for hospitality. Seriously, their customer service is superb. Leading up to the event, I must’ve called like a million other restaurants, all of which required me to go through their private catering service just because I had 13 guests which meant they required a minimum spending of at least $ 500 – 600. It was absolutely ridiculous, whatever happened to booking a place, hassle-free, and calling it a day?! They even allowed me to bring in a cake from outside and didn’t even charge for a plating fee! They were so accommodating, respectful, courteous of our party. They made sure people had refills on their drinks. I ordered the Margherita pizza to split(delicious!), the Stagione salad(would’ve licked the plate clean if it weren’t a classy place), and the paccheri pasta(was a little salty but otherwise good). Overall, excellent service and experience. Will definitely come here again!

It’s not as popular and well-reviewed as the original — for good reason — but it’s still excellent. The space feels a bit tight and the vibe feels a little dates. The pasta is still so fresh and some of the best in the city though. They accommodate vegetarians really well, just mention it to your server. The location is great just north of the river too. In an area with so many over priced, mediocre options, this stands out, but be sure to visit the original location on Grand too!

Excellent service and the pasta is all made in-house. We told them we were in a hurry to get to a show and they had us in and out without rushing the experience. I suggest an order of the caprese salad and just about any pasta on the menu.

I came here to eat with a friend for dinner one night, this was our first time dining here. Walking in right away the atmosphere did not feel very welcoming or friendly but we decided to not let that deter us from eating there. The bread is delicious, I’m a sucker for bread and olive oil. I ordered the Zuppa for the first course, it was house made soup of the day. It was delicious! I enjoyed it the most out of everything. The next course, I got the tortelli and regretted it instantly. I personally see no point to buffalo milk, I felt bad for getting it and even more when I tasted it. It was definitely not a favorite of mine. For dessert I chose the tavoletta because I love pistachios and the pistachio mouse sold me. It was great. Overall I loved the soup and the dessert and in total our dinner was not that expensive. There are some great affordable dishes here, I just would not recommend this place for a vegetarian or vegan or someone looking for a casual warm atmosphere…

Our first time here. Absolutely love this place. Had a great table by the window. My usual standard of linguini with clams(white) was near perfect($ 18. Some places charge $ 25 for not so good, like Rosebud, but that’s another story). Great wine by the glass and bottle, and very reasonably priced. Wife had some custom risotto whipped up for her with pesto and it was delicious. Service was right there. Very glad this place is right around the corner, and don’t know why we haven’t been here sooner. Oh yea, Obama apparently likes this place too.

Had dinner with a group of 5 on Saturday night. Reservations were for 9pm, they sat us at 9:30pm at a table in the bar saying its«all they had», apologized and gave us some free pizza and antipasto which by far was the best food we ate. Ordered basic Italian items such as arancini, calamari and there pappardelle with boar ragu. Pasta was overcooked, calamari was dried out. Other food was tasteless. Service was horrible. Absolutely one of the worst meals I have had in the city of Chicago in my 12 years of dining here. Very disappointed. I haven’t been to Olive Garden in 15 years but I know I could have had way better food there! I will never return. I have really enjoyed the original piccolo sogno for years but this place is a joke!

An excellent showing for restaurant week, and just as good as the original location. The ambiance is intimate and dim, with plenty of booths and small tables. The service is excellent as always. The food is the way true Italian should be, fresh, simple ingredients and filling. This is the perfect restaurant for an intimate date or dinner before a show. It’s pricey, especially relative to other Italian food, but it’s well worth it. You’ll leave full and satisfied. Personally, there was something(maybe the spaciousness, maybe the outdoor patio) that makes me like the original Piccolo Sogno better, but the location of this one can’t be beat!

Meh Average at best but reasonable river north prices. Waiter brought wrong dish and had the nerve to ask if I was sure. Gelato was a highlight though.

Consistently great food! I have been to the original countless times and this one doesn’t fail to impress. The pasta is off the charts as usual! Great wine list! Can’t wait to go back.

Fabulous service, delicious food. A class act. We had the frittura, rucola and salmone, all of which were prepared to perfection and served well. One of our favorite lunch restaurants.

We tried it out on a whim and came at 5:30pm dressed at tourists. Thankfully they have on outside patio that accommodated us well. The restaurant has a feel for romantic dinners and business meetings. We felt a bit out of place, but no one batted an eye. Given the early hour, we ordered only appetizers and desert. The fiori was barely there, all hidden in a fried dough. The calamari was great. The best part was the pannacotta alla limone. Would def try them for a proper dinner.

I didn’t sit outside, we sat at an odd two person table almost in the center is the dining room awkwardly. Place was super busy, waiters seemed uninterested in us. We were new patrons and younger than most… And we are in our 30s! Antipasti was okay. Pastas were limited in choice but mine was good(but oily). I would come back and try a meal in their beautiful outdoor patio but that’s about it.

Delizioso! Four of us went to Piccolo Sogno Due on a Friday night. We had reservations for 7:30 and I was surprised the restaurant was only about half full. We sat outside and there were only a few open tables. Granted this was 4th of July weekend, so maybe that explains it? Anyways, we were promptly seated and I really enjoyed the covered patio. Our server was quick with our drink orders and waters. We decided to indulge and ordered the Melanzane, Mare and Margherita Pizza for appetizers. All were fantastic. The eggplant wasn’t overly breaded which I find to often be the case and the Mare was phenomenal. Octopus was the favorite on the plate for all of us. Pizza was light and crispy and arrived proportioned for us – YAY! Less work! For entrees we ordered the Tortelli, Pappardelle, Gnocchi and Truffle Risotto which was a special for the night. We all had bites of each and they were all truly amazing. The gnocchi was my favorite and was so perfectly cooked. We decided to end the night with tea, espresso and limoncello. YUM. This meal was fantastic and came out to about $ 300 including drinks. Not bad for the atmosphere and amazing food. The only reason for the dropped star is our server did suddenly disappear at the end of our meal. We waited about 20 minutes before one of us got up to find her – and ended up requesting the hostess to bring us our check. Next time I am in town, I will be sure to come back.

Great tasty food and not too over priced! Most pasta dishes were under $ 20 and large enough for entrée size. Service was great and friendly, always refilling our water and wine. My whole party enjoyed their dishes! All the food came out and once and rather quickly.

Piccolo Sogno Due! Thank you for your amazing atmosphere, amazing service and amazing food. WOW!!! I came here with a friend for dinner and we were both blown away by our server, wine and also meal. I got the Pesce Spada(swordfish) it was to die for. Perfectly prepared. The perfect flavor profile and the perfect serving size. Please do yourself a favor and stop in if you have a chance.

Can a single dish inspire a 5 star review on Unilocal?Yes ladies and gentlemen, it can. Most dining events are defined by the overall experience: the ambiance, service, apps, entrees, cocktails, desserts… However, I can base my entire review on a single item on the menu: Piccolo Sogno Due’s Papardelle with Spiced Wild Boar Ragu. It’s all I’ve been thinking about since my Restaurant Week dinner there on Wednesday. I can’t say that about many food experiences, but this pasta dish was top-notch. I love Piccolo Sogno Due’s convenient location. The service and ambiance were great that night; the restaurant and bar weren’t crowded and the dim lights provided an added element of romance. The crowd was classy and the staff was kind and warm. I loved everything about this place from the moment I walked in. We went with the Restaurant Week dinner menu, and were impressed by all of our choices for first and second course, along with dessert. The Polpo(grilled octopus) was cooked to perfection. For dessert, the Tavoletta was exceptional and the Panna Cotta was perfect(minus the candied lemons, but I’m not complaining). But I gave my heart to the Papardelle that night. I don’t think that’s ever happened before. Well Done, Piccolo Sogno Due! I can’t wait to return and try some of your other pastas. In love right now guys… I’ll be back later.

I came here with my coworkers for lunch last month. I ordered the black pasta with seafood. It was absolutely divine. Unfortunately, I stuffed my face with their bread basket beforehand so I didn’t get to finish my pasta but it was delicious. When I ate the leftovers for lunch the next day, it was just as good. I really liked the food at the original Piccolo Sogno, so I was happy that the quality was the same. Service was good and the ambiance can be quite noisy. I would recommend for a nice work lunch.

Oh Piccolo Sogno Due… you have my heart. While many people may believe returning to the same restaurant from one occasion to the next will only leave you heartbroken, you must make an exception for Piccolo – or as I kindly refer to it, the Gates to Heaven. I bring my parents here as often as they come out, because, give them a traditional Italian meal and they are left with a full and happy heart(and stomach!). The first time we came, however, I knew this would be different. The menu is absolutely outstanding – from roasted beets to tartufo pizza done right, it will not disappoint. Obviously, it’s higher on the price side, but the quality of the food gives quite the return. Additionally, getting a reservation here is quite easy for a weekend night. Rather than sifting through the hundreds of restaurants without tables for a Saturday night, you could easily make a reservation here for 7pm. You’ll also be happy with the ambiance – it’s not too dark, not too noisy. A lovely investment for dinner indeed.

It’s pretty hard to get a 1 star review from me, but here’s what happened. We made a reservation for a party of 4. We came in with our baby that could sit in-between us, but they made us wait 45 minutes for a table. There was also a pregnant lady in our party. I’m not sure why we had to wait so long because the table we received was the standard 4 size table. Next, it took us over 30 minutes to put in our order. Our host forgot our drinks. And last, it took them over an hour to deliver our food. So from walking in until actually eating was 2 hours. That’s bad service. While the food was okay, I wouldn’t come here again on based on the poor service. What’s the point of a reservation if they can’t honor it? We didn’t order dessert because who knows how long that would have taken.

My wife and I were staying at the Westin across the street and were looking for an Italian restaurant. Unilocal provided some average to good reviews so we decided to give them a try. I was initially unimpressed by the«what-could-have-been-a-warmer» welcome, but the overall experience went better. We were seated to our table for two people in the front corner of the restaurant, next to the window. The room was packed on this November Monday night, but we still enjoyed an intimate dinner. The overall look and feel was nice, felt very Italian, especially with the staff’s accent. ;) The waiter was very warm and courteous and was passionate about explaining the menu. Based on her recommendation and speciality of the house, we ordered the fish. We didn’t go wrong, the Turbot and Sea bass were excellent. I would have appreciated an additional side dish however in addition to the broccolini, but still the meal was excellent. Prior to the main dish, we enjoyed the home-made bread as well as cod bruschettas. We ended our experience with two heavenly cannoli and a mix of sorbet. Although a somewhat expensive dinner(with wine), our experience was very nice and would surely return.
