I love Paddy Long’s for a casual, cozy night when we want to eat and imbibe. We don’t live too far, so we often drop in on weeknights for dinner and beers. On weekends, it can get crowded, and, when it’s nice out, there are a couple of seats outside in front, if you can snatch a spot. My go to for the food is the fish and chips. There’s been a couple of times when the breading has been too thick, but for the most part it’s reliably good. The fish is always flaky inside. I don’t think the fries alone are much to write home about, but I’ve recently started adding the curry sauce on the side, and I can’t really get enough of that. My boyfriend often gets the Bomb sandwich, which is a slice of their food competition(think«Man vs. Food») level sandwich with meat and bacon. The Bomb sandwich is much more manageable. He got it yesterday(again), and we mentioned how the BBQ sauce always sounds like it’ll be overwhelming, but with the pepper bacon, in reality the flavor is typically more balanced. We’ve tried other burgers and enjoyed them, and, of course, with this being a bacon place, I recommend trying the bacon plate, especially if it’s your first time there. I like the reuben, and the corned beef is homemade. I wish there was either a bit more of the meat or less of the cabbage on it, but I’ll order it again. The beer selection is good, and, while, I’ve seen someone order a cocktail there, I think beer is the way to go. There have often been vendors or representatives from breweries there with promotions and events. Yesterday’s trivia was sponsored by a brewery, so some people got rounds of drinks(not sure if the sponsorship is every week, but the trivia is). I remember I first heard of Paddy Longs through a Groupon with a beer and bacon flight. I’m not sure if that is still something you can get a deal on, but I recommend going even without. It’s quality and not too pricey.

I can honestly say that my visits to Paddy Long’s are the best bacon experiences I’ve ever had. They have a half dozen different types, all cured in-house, and all absolutely delicious. Their beer selection and other menu items complement the bacon perfectly. The staff is excellent and the pub is located just a half block west of a Brown Line stop.

Any time you can pair beer and beer. I am there! The different choices of bacon are amazing. Try the bacon board and the beer battered bacon. Bacon bread pudding!!!

Great beer, great service, and good food. I can honestly say that i was impressed when i went here for lunch. They had a great beer selection on tap and good music in the que. The server/bartender was exeptional as well. The specials are very good as well. It was Monday and they had half off apetizers. I tried the bacon platter and also got the wings. Both were good. This will definitely become a regular Monday spot. I look forward to coming back here on a Thursday tho, they have half off whiskey. Things could get weird.

Been here at least 3 or 4 times and have always had a wonderful experience. They have fantastic beer and a wide variety too(and the bartenders/waiters are extremely friendly). All of their food is incredible and probably has incorporated either beer or bacon into it(or both). Their beer battered bacon is great too! I’ve never had a problem getting a table here either. And every guy I’ve ever known is obsessed with this place(beer + bacon…)

Bacon and craft beer? A hipster had died and gone to David Bowie’s mason! This place is very similar!

The quintessential local/neighborhood beer bar. Only better. Exceptional beef stew, craft beers on tap and a local flavor that is often missing in Lakeview. Not fratty — just awesome authenticity. Worth the trip.

This pub is authentic, quality food. Owners are extremely friendly as well! Me and my friend were pretty hungry so we got the curry fries. The curry sauce was so rich, creamy and flavorful that we quickly ordered another serving of fries, but this time with the cheese sauce. This was even more delicious in my opinion — the cheese had a kick of heat to it which really added an interesting depth of flavor. We got three beers between us. The Alpha Male was bitter, dark and refreshing. The Oscar blues old chub had a very strong chocolate and caramel taste, and was one of the smoothest beers I’ve ever had. We got the Delerium Tremens last because it was advertised as the«Top 50 beers in the world» so we had to try it. It had a distinct taste of flowers and honey, and was extremely clear and refreshing. It did not taste at all like 9%, so be careful when drinking it! Really sweet and delicious, and overall fantastic selection of drinks and food!

Definitely worth checking out. Got in too late one night and the kitchen was closed but our bartender, Kristin, was able to round us up some bacon! Great atmosphere and cool people. Definitely will stop in again sometime to check out their food, which seems to be pretty good.

Came here on a Friday night and they were pretty pack! We wanted to try the bacon bomb because this was where he wanted to go for his birthday so what the birthday boy wants, the birthday boy gets. He said he say the bacon bomb somewhere and it looked amazing. So sure why not? Who doesn’t love bacon? Upon arrival, you’re greeted by the bartender. You have the options to sit at the bar, stand anywhere or there are seats in the back. We were going to eat dinner here so I headed to the back. Actually, before we came I tried to pre– order the bacon bomb but they said they don’t take pre orders because someone could have ordered it and never come in which made sense so that was fine. I was the first one to arrive so I put in the order for the bacon bomb while I waited for everyone else to arrive. What I didn’t like was the limited seats available but maybe because it was a busy night. So now, everyone had arrived even including our bacon bomb. Looks are really deceiving! We thought we were able to finish it because it looked so tiny but while eating it, let me tell you, you will easily get full. There was 5 of us and we weren’t able to finish it. It was just too much! Everything about it was so flavorful and what was great is that you get buns, cheese & fries also with it! Great combo by the way. This bacon bomb was ~$ 70 which is a fair about to be split amongst the 5 of us. We left full and satisfy but I don’t think we would ever get the bacon bomb again it was way too much too handle. Now I can see why so many people fail in attempting the challenge. Our server was great too!

Things I love. Bacon. Beer. Sex. Paddy Long’s does a really good job of taking care of 2 of those 3(hint hint Paddy Long’s). Seriously though if you like unassuming neighborhood bars, craft beer, or bacon this place is amazing. Before coming to Chicago a my friend and I learned of their beer and bacon brunch so as soon as we landed we hooked it to our hotel and dropped off our bags and then grabbed an über the Paddy Long’s. We walked in and they had college football/soccer on all of the TVs and a fairly small crowd. What is wrong with you Chicago? They have a beer and bacon brunch. This place would be a hipster heaven in Austin. I will post a photo of the menu that we had on our Saturday. The Irish bacon was a Canadian bacon-esque cut that came with a Trumer Pils which was a go to beer for me while I was in Chicago. Not bad. Too close to ham for my liking. Second was my favorite combo which was a Spaten Oktoberfest and Pepper Bacon. I love Spaten and the Pepper Bacon were a perfect compliment for each other. Third was the Almanac Phobophobia and Danish unsmoked Bacon. Not bad but I didn’t think these 2 went together well. Fourth was Sweetwater 420 Pale Ale and Country Smoked Jowl. This was probably my 2nd favorite pairing and the jowl was chewy and very tasty. Finally and Oskar Blues Old Chub and Brown Sugar Bacon. I have had Old Chub before and I am not a huge fan but it was a good pairing with the sweet/salty flavor of the sticky Brown Sugar bacon. After going and seeing orders and the menu if I was to come back I would just order the bacon board and pair it with my own beer choices because I felt like they had better options than what they chose to use for our particular pairing date. Otherwise this place was a highlight of my trip and a must visit for any carnivore visiting Chicago.

We stopped in mid-day for a post lunch drink. This place was open when many others(including the beer arcade) were closed. Good beer selection, attentive bartender, quite enough to chat. Can’t ask for more. I would like to come back and sample the bacon offerings.

I went to Paddy Longs bar for dinner, it cost me 24 bucks(with tip) — for a Meatloaf Sandwich w/fries and a pickle– I had a beer. Does that seem like a lot?- Meatloaf is their signature thing– it is made with a bacon wrap. They sell the same thing that feeds 6 people– a 5 pound loaf wrapped in bacon for 60 bucks. It was just OK by the way– kind of dry. The service was good, I sat at the bar. Great Beer selection and the bartender was very helpful helping me pick out the perfect beer. I have driven by this place a million times– this was my first visit– and I will be back to try some other interesting items on the menu. If I would have parked just west of Paddy’s — I would have had free street parking– I didn’t notice that till I left. Oh well, next time.

first off: this place deserves NO stars, but in order to give it a review you have to give a star rating. I went here yesterday for the first time, with several friends, after I ran a 6.5 mile race. I was relatively hungry, since I had just ran a race to start my morning off. As Jenn(my servers name as it appeared on my bill) was pouring everyone waters, she spilled water all over my shorts. not a very good omen for the meal. We all put in our orders and had to wait a solid 45 minutes to get them. I orded a BBQ bacon burger, which was delicious. when everyone got their order, my mom was the one person that didn’t get hers. so we asked our server(Jenn) to go get her food. thankfully she got the food brought to her shortly after. I could have started eating my arm I was so hungry. When we put in our orders we were the largest table at the restaurant, about 6 people. The service is DEPLORABLE. I would NEVER go back to this establishment. I have lived in Chicago several years, and know what good service and bad service is like. This place has HORRIBLE service, and Jenn is one of the worst servers I’ve encountered in Chicago. The establishment wasn’t even at half capacity and we had to wait nearly an hour to be served. I have a vast network of friends and professional contacts in Chicago that I keep up with, and will be telling everyone I know about the horrible service I received yesterday. That’s great they do bacon well, they just do everything else HORRIBLE. I don’t work in the food industry but I could have served our table better than Jenn and without spilling water all over myself. I will NOT be back, and will let everyone I know about the deplorable service.

Overall: A solid place for some good bacon-y pub food and booze. The good: Tons of good beer options. Cozy, friendly atmosphere with great music choices. Good sized TVs at the bar. Good, attentive service. Food overall was pretty tasty. The bad: Not a ton of tables or seating. The prices are a little steep in some areas, including the beer. Food was good, but could’ve been better. Atmosphere: 8⁄10 Service: 9⁄10 Food: 8⁄10

Bacon and beer. Had this one bookmarked before arriving to Chicago, and just my luck, it was literally right around the corner from the place we were staying at! First look at their tap list, and this West Coaster had a huge smile on his face! We obviously ordered the bacon board and the fries topped with eggs. Bacon board was great and had a nice sampling of bacon, but the jowl was definitely the best. And although you can’t go wrong with any meal topped with runny eggs, it was a bit disappointing that the fries appeared to be frozen. But the most truly disappointing part of my experience here is the fact that my wife and friends didn’t allow me to take on The Bomb Challenge. Ye’ of little faith… Bacon and beer.

2.5 stars for sure, but I wasn’t too impressed by Paddy Long’s. I mean, props to not being just another douche bro bar on Diversey, which is why I’d probably go back. But other than that, Paddy Long’s leaves something to be desired. I showed up on a Friday night and had some delays in getting a drink order in. Which on a Friday night is to be expected. Eventually a few of us ordered food and that’s really where I’m taking points off. I had the sliders and the buns were stale, the meat was dry, and overall just… no bueno. I personally never use condiments when eating burgers because I like to taste my beef, but these needed ketchup just to be eaten. Nice space especially if you’re in Lincoln Park, but ehhh overall.

My friend and I has the bacon and beer pairing here and I really enjoyed the experience. We got to try a variety of different beers paired with different types and styles of bacon. I am not much of a beer drinker to begin with as I find the taste to be a bit overpowering, but the way the bacon was paired with the beer here made me enjoy it. The darker and more bitter beers were paired with the fattier pieces of bacon, and they went together really well. The lighter beers had leaner bacons or were paired in interesting ways, like there was a sweeter bacon. The overall experience was very enjoyable and I would have fun doing it again. There’s also apparently some bacon challenge here, but I didn’t get to do that.

So, I love the idea of this place. A beer and bacon bar? Count me in. It is nice, but it certainly smelled like, well… A bar. I had the waffle with bacon in it, which was awesome. Husband had the BLT, which had tons of bacon. We tried the batter fried bacon, which was just so-so. I’d skip it honestly. All in all, pretty good. Could have been better.
