This is gelato at its best — creamy, sweet, and luxuriously rich. After tasting a few flavors, all of which were great, I settled on the peppermint(complete with candy cane sprinkle tasting crunchy bits). It was a perfect complement to a blustery winter day. The hot chocolate was quite good as well(not as good as, say, Mindy’s, but good for a non-specialist). The café space is big and inviting with plenty of places to hang out and chat. I’m definitely a fan.

Gelato is sooooo delicious and creamy. They always change their flavored and they’re always so interesting! U can choose different flavor sin one cup. The staff is super nice and its in a great location, I have been there three times this cold November and I can’t wait for summer time!

JUSTSKIPIT! I can’t believe this place gets so many glowing reviews? It’s NOT that special. I’ve been here at least 3x and I find it’s just okay. Not terrible mind you, it’s just that it’s not great. The problem as I see it is that every flavor I’ve ever ordered here is on the weak side, with espresso being the one I order the most and also the weakest. Another thing that bugs me about Paciugo’s is the price, it’s not cheap! It’s too expensive for what you get. As far as the store itself goes it feels awkward, there’s something about the layout and the cramped seating. The staff, less than enthusiastic. The whole experience leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth, so in all probability I be won’t returning. When I was in Dallas, their original location, I loved the flavors so much so I wrote them an email begging them to open a store in Chicago, this was about 8 years ago. Since then Paciugo’s opened up a few locations here, but in all honesty, I think their recipe is different. It’s not as rich, creamy or tasty as I remembered it was in Dallas. I’m actually thinking of going back there again just to see if it’s the way I remembered it. IMHO Mariano’s sells the best gelato(VERO) I’ve tasted in Chicago and to boot it’s pretty inexpensive. Who would’ve thunk? It’s rich tasting. Portions are generous and the staff are extremely friendly. My vote is for Mariano’s.

Great gelato! Amazingly friendly staff. A bit pricier than the mom and pop’s gelato places on the west side or near north, but definitely tasty and great flavor selection. Just don’t ask which one they recommend because as employees they’re told to recommend the ones that haven’t been selling as much! Taste a few first! Also if you’re farther north they have one on Lawrence Ave in the Lincoln Square neighborhood!(I wish I knew sooner!) Not much if any free parking around! Be aware if you’re coming out.

Great flavor selection. Great quality. Excellent & friendly customer service every time. They also have soy-based and water-based gelatos for those who have an intolerance. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. And I love that it’s right next to my apartment. :)

It’s way up north for me but well worth the walk! I tried the amaretto chocolate, tiramissu and pistacchio. Flavors are plenty and the staff is super sweet… pun intended ;) Priced pretty reasonably with outdoor seating to enjoy your little treat it is a great jem in the neighborhood. I know everyone is trying to do the gelato thing but if not done correctly it’s a waste of calories. I strongly advise before the chill is in the air you visit this cute spot on Broadway. Just writing this review makes me want a scoop!

Delish! So refreshing to find many dairy-free options(and at a gelato place non-the-less!). I had chocolate, pink lemonade, mango passion fruit and pineapple. All were wonderful but I liked the passion fruit and pink lemonade best. So nice to be able to have the creamy gelato instead of the raspberry or lemon sorbets which tend to be icy. This place was hopping at 10:00 on a Saturday night, but they greeted everyone quick and got through the line. I felt the prices were fair given the location and that gelato tends to be pricey. No different than what I pay for a dinky thing of DF ice cream at the store. But more flavor options! Cute place for a late night run or touristy friends.

We used Paciugo for an employee event at work and they were an absolute delight to work with! Flavia was very helpful in recommending what flavors to order and how much we would need for our office group. We ordered eight different flavors including Chocolate Mediterranean Sea Salt Caramel, Limoncello, Maple and Caramelized Bacon, Tres Leches, Blueberry Lavender, Milk Chocolate, Sandy’s Red Velvet Cake and Peanut Butter Caramel. All were so fresh and delicious. Their gelato is simply dreamy. Our employees loved the variety and the event was a success. I hope to use them again in the near future!

This stuff is awesome, and it is truly«real» gelato(see more below). I agree with some other reviews that the flavors don’t come through all the time — mostly because they aren’t using artificial flavors… so if you want a really strong pistachio– you’ll have to go to baskin robins. Some of the flavors here will be more subtle(not the berry one though — omg that was good! That’s better than ANY ice cream I’ve had in my life). Also, it is actually better overall, texture-wise, and calorie-wise — than ice cream. The reason this tastes different than gelato in(most of) Italy(and whole foods, ironically) is because it’s made with real ingredients and without artificial flavors. I was on a food tour guide in Italy where the guide explained the difference between«fake» gelato and real gelato. 80% of the gelato in Italy is fake — they put in artificial colors, flavors, and fill it with air to make it stand up very high in the display case. Also, places with 30 flavors are usually fake because real gelato has to be thrown away after 2 days — and nobody can sell 30 flavors — so the other places are full of preservatives, fake dyes, fake flavoring, and air. They also seem to have a weird texture which made me never like gelato. This place was amazing, though… and you can see the gelato isn’t all puffed up 4 feet high or neon colored. The only other place that I know of to get gelato like this is in Trastevere, Rome at a place called Fatamorgana. This doesn’t require 10 hours of travel!

Pretty damn amazing. Lived around the corner for 6 months before trying this place and man I’m a fool for not coming earlier! Must tries… The strawberry lemonade smoothie and the wild berries smoothie. Absolutely wonderful on a hot day!

So. Many. Flavors! This is my first time reviewing Paciugo after several visits at a couple locations. This is my favorite gelato place in Chicago! On my most recent visit it took me five minutes to narrow it down to the 3 flavors I wanted to order. It would have been easier to pick the only 3 flavors I didn’t want to order. I tried s’mores and Guinness chocolate this time along with milk&cookies. The guy told me they mix in real Guinness when they make that flavor. That’s awesome! Who wouldn’t like that? Great tasting gelato, great variety and the staff working there are always very friendly and conversational. Two thumbs up!

Yum gelato. Still the best place in town for gelato. Customer service is friendly. You can get upto 3 flavors in the small size — the most difficult task is to choose from the plethora of options available. The hazelnut mocha swirl was soooo good!!!

This place is good. it tastes good. if you want good old fashioned ice cream with all the sugar and all that stuff maybe this is not the place for you. If I sat here for a few hours maybe I could convince myself it was the same as regular ice cream. 3 flavors of joy in one cup… yummy

Pretty good gelato. I didn’t have very high expectations as it seemed like your typical«run of the mill» gelato place. The prices were pretty normal as were the sizes. What I really appreciated was the flavors and how they were unique to American taste buds. Typically when I visit a gelato spot, the flavors are in Italian and I spend more time asking what is what than I do enjoying the treat! These were all in English and they had fun flavors like Rocky Road and Pumpkin pie. I had the salted caramel, hazelnut, and pumpkin and they did not disappoint!

I absolutely love this place. The store is always kept nice and clean. The staff is usually friendly and will ask if you want to taste any flavor of gelato that seem good to you. They have a big variety of gelato; from fruity to chocolaty. I also usually get the hot chocolate because it’s rich and creamy. just simply amazing! You can come here any time, hot or cold day in Chicago there’s always room for gelato!

Very very good gelato — not quite in the worldwide top tier(Bi-Rite, Berthillon, etc.) but still very very good, and far better than the more popular ice cream shop down the street. Lots of the flavors here interest me, but the salted caramel and chocolate are so reliable that it is hard to get anything else. I do wish they had better sorbets.

Love it. My favorite gelato place in the City and luckily for me, its in the neighborhood. They have tons of flavors and are happy to let you try a couple before making a decision. My favorite is the caramel sea salt.
