I highly recommend Jackie E. for a massage, she’s amazing. I felt like a changed person afterward! Everyone here was very friendly and welcome, and their massage room had the most calming ambiance, so needed when in the middle of downtown.

The prices for it being downtown are pretty decent, their service is pretty cool, the barbershop has a very friendly atmosphere, but the eastern european lady that works there, can not cut hair, at all. She completely screwed up my hair on both ocassions, even after I gave her specific instructions. Herman and the young Hispanic lady do a great job. If you decide to go to Oteros I strongly suggest you go with the young hispanic lady or the gentleman. Now if your a younger dude looking for a blow out fade or temple tapper then I suggest you stick to your local barbershop this is more of an old school barbershop and I dont think they may know what your talking about if you were to ask them for a brooklyn fade or blow out. I only come to oteros when I am in desperate need for a hair cut and I dont have time after work to visit my regular barber. Over all the place is cool and the people are friendly. Would’ve gave it a 5 star but that lady screwed up my hair twice, no excuse for living patches of hair totally noticeable. When you fade someones hair you should not see patches of hair in places were there should not be hair.

Went here after my last 2 barbers skipped town. Conveniently located in Chase Plaza. Herman takes time to listen to what you want and makes some of his own recommendations, which I really liked. It’s also nice to have the option for a shoe shine or manicure while I’m there. Hopefully this will be my last barber change for a while.

This is a great little place tucked in to the basement of the Chase Building downtown. I have been getting my eyebrows waxed there for 4 years and they do a great job (and it’s affordable). They also run specials all the time like $ 35 for mani/​pedis and 2 for 1 facials. I highly recommend this salon over many of the other quick and in and out places in the loop. They are very professional.

I moved to Chicago 11 years ago and stumbled upon Otero’s due to it’s proximity to my office. 11 years later, I work no where near Otero’s, but I still make sure to get my hair cut there. I also get my shoes shined and my hands detailed. For those 25 minutes, I am the king. Thanks Herman.

This review is for the Barber Shop side. Places like Otero’s are a dying breed. It has a modern day look with an old school feel. People I know well will tell you that I don’t let just anyone put a blade to my head, and i’m particular about who I let cut my hair. Herman is quite the perfectionist when it comes to his craft. He will not let you leave unless you are satisfied and i’ve been yet to be disappointed. Whether it’s a cut, shave, or shoe shine Otero’s provides excellent quality services at reasonable prices. Especially for being a downtown establishment. And the only place I know of that provides a hot foam shave or hot towels anymore. This is my go to spot for getting my hair did, so if you live downtown, go here. If you work in or near the Chase Building, go on your Lunch Hour. The quality and convenient location make this a 5 star business.
