I recently stayed at the Old Town Bed & Breakfast in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood for a joyful family holiday reunion. Overall the B&B was warm, comfortable, and cozy, which made the family reunion memorable. However there were also some areas of concern that you may want to take into consideration before booking your stay. What makes this place great: –Location, location, location! The Old Town B&B is walking distance to Wells Street and North Avenue where there are a number of restaurants, bars, lounges, and boutiques. –4 bedrooms: 3 on the 3rd floor, and 1 on the 1st floor. –Full size kitchen, and a good sized dining room for meals –Living room with a fireplace and TV –Grand piano that plays holiday tunes automatically –Rooftop deck with a view of downtown Chicago –Friendly and accommodating owners /hosts. What might make you look elsewhere: –The Old Town B&B is right next to the L track, and the L runs every 5 minutes or so. So the L rumbles you awake as early as 5 in the morning, and keeps you up late into the night until the L stops running. The Master bedroom and the living room experiences the worst noise. –The owner(s) of the Old Town B&B smoke, so you can smell cigarette smoke on the Eastern end of the B&B. Had to sleep with the windows open to keep the smell of the smoke out. –There is no cleaning, bed sheet or towel changes provided during your stay. –Although it’s called a Bed & Breakfast, there is no breakfast cooked or prepared. What they do provide on a side table are cereals, milk, oatmeal, light snacks, and tea.
