I’ve been here a few times, and the food has always been decent for what it is, Panda Express meets Creole. My only complaint is the service, particularly from the ladies who take the orders. First of all, there is almost always a line, but they insist on yelling«what are you having?» to the people in line, before you even get close enough to take a look and make a decision. For this reason, I always order salmon because that’s what I got the first time, so I just stick with that. Btw, salmon is grilled to order, so you will have to wait a few more minutes than you would for the ready made dishes. I figured they rushed people into placing orders in order to get the line down, but today was different. I went with a friend at around 1:15 p.m. and there was absolutely no line at all. But, no sooner than we stepped our foot into the place did they ask what did we want, I said I’d like to take a look to decide. I chose corned beef and cabbage(which was good), then she asked what 2 sides. After .2 seconds she asked again, then the other lady started naming all of the sides. They did my friend the same way, they tag teamed us to get us out of there faster. So, I had to tell them that they were being rude and that we felt very rushed. The lady just smiled and nodded. I only come here when I have a LevelUp credit, which is every blue moon, and that’s good enough for me.

This restaurant is in the State of Illinois building and I was undecided of what to have for lunch today so walking around in the basement of the building I came across this restaurant and decided to try their bourbon chicken with noodles and green beans. You can get rice or any other sides you would like which they do have a lot of different things like corn, mash potatoes, broccoli, and a couple of more things I just can’t remember right now, they also have brown rice if you don’t want white rice or noodles. The chicken was moist and delicious also the noodles were great. Would go back again to try their other dishes.

The food here is really good and you get a decent amount of it. Be sure to look for what’s on special; it’s usually a very good price! Last time I went I got the jambalaya for about $ 6 and was really full afterwards!

Been eating here for many years and they never fail to deliver the most epic bourbon chicken. The bourbon chicken with rice on top and double mac&cheese… Omg, yes. Done.

It was awesome. I had the bourbon chicken and spicy chicken. It tastes really good and they are very kind.

I just left here about an hour ago with a friend. This was the worst meal I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I had the red beans and rice, green beans and salmon — everything was bland and had no flavor. I’m not really sure how this place is still open actually. It doesn’t take like anything from New Orleans. Don’t eat here — very disappointing.

Being from New Orleans, I thought it was hard to mess up Jambalaya but I was wrong. Do not eat here, it’s disgusting

Not a very good place to eat! Jambalaya was nasty and chicken wasn’t much better! I would not recommend trying it!

I like this place! I get half bourbon chicken and half spicy chicken. This combination is not explicitly on the menu but it is dope! The menu is pretty big so I’m not sure about all the stuff on there but order what I told you to and you will be happy! This is a small biz which I prefer fo sua.

Had the Bourbon Chicken. If you get it, do half-spicy, half-regular. I don’t like Cajun food, but it was really good. Enormous portion, too. More than enough to share.

I work across the street and I’ve tried several items from the menu and they are good but today I decided to try the jumbo shrimp since it was there special. NEVER again first of all they were NOT jumbo! Then they only give you 5… Very disappointed!

Food is what you expect for a downtown loop food court. Like all of them they have good days and bad. This place is spot-on on good days. Off-days they’re still better than Burger King(which some tasteless idiot actually suggested). Ingredients are simple so don’t have to worry about it being too unhealthy(processed) or them messing it up(consistent) but what do you expect when you’re eating mashed potato carbs and chicken drenched in tasty, corn syrupy bourbon sauce? Big plus in why I like this place. Service is always friendly; JoAnn is a sweetheart. The kitchen always seems to be happy. Why should we care? Because if I’ve ever learned anything about working in restaurants is that you want a happy kitchen. Trust me on this.

Took forever to get a fried chicken po boy, i mean about 15 minutes for a place in a mall is quite unacceptable. BBQ sauce was more typical sugar sauce than actuall bbq. Menu was not very cajun or creole at all. It was just crap.

When I ordered a rib sandwich from this place today for lunch, the worker asked if I wanted«everything» on it, meaning lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and barbecue sauce. I’m not even going to go further on that because that’s just plain wrong. When I finally got my sandwich, I dove right in and took my first bite. To my surprise, there was a little bone in it. «Ok, this is probably just a simple mistake, it probably happens all the time,» I thought. Another bite, another bone. I was starting to see a pattern. So I removed all the tomatoes, onion and lettuce and looked inside. Lo and behold, the«sandwich» had about 4 – 5 rib tips inside. Who in the holy hell puts rib tips in a rib sandwich!!! Do they want someone to choke and sue them? A rib sandwich has three ingredients: a BONELESS rib, barbecue sauce, and some form of bread(preferably French bread). You may add some onions in it, maybe a small pickle slice, but that’s it. Never coming back here again. Ever.

Holy shit this Cajun place in the Thompson Center food court is a sweet little piece of heaven. Got the Jambalaya, red beans, Mac n cheese and corn bread. The Jambalaya and corn bread were shockingly good. Pay the extra $ 1 for the corn bread. Don’t get the Mac n cheese, it’s disappointing. They were also efficient and fast at the height of lunch rush. Now I want to try their bourbon chicken.

Don’t let the low budget look and feel of this place fool you, it’s a very worthwhile lunch spot. I got the famous bourbon chicken, and people didn’t exaggerate about the portions. You’d be hard pressed to find anything in this price range with so much meat. The chicken was tender with just a bit of char on it. The rice was perfectly cooked and soaked up some of the tasty sauce. For sides I got green beans and corn, and couldn’t believe how fresh and good both were. The beans were well seasoned, though I can’t say what with, and the corn tasted like it had just been harvested, with a buttery flavor to it. I’d say it’s a good sign when half way through my first meal at a place I’m already thinking about what I’ll get next time, which will be soon.

For what you pay here they give you a lot of food. I’ve been coming here since I moved my office to the loop a couple years ago. Good food, good service, fast and efficient. This place says it gives you authentic New Orleans cuisine but it seems more Asian inspired. Either way folks hit this place up if you are in the Thompson center or work close to it!

Very recommended! if you want to get a taste of New Orleans food in a heart of downtown Chicago you must come here. It’s located in the food court at the state building across the daley center and city hall. Come and get the sample of Bourbon Chicken(don’t worry, it’s a non-alcoholic) DELICIOUS! once you get it, you won’t go anywhere else. If you like a little bit spicy, you can mix it w/spicy chicken at the same price! GOOD deal! If you want po’boy i recommend you, the shrimp po’boy(seafood) or pulled pork po’boy! i’m personally not a fan of short ribs or rib tips but i can guarantee you it’s GOOD! Don’t worry for not getting enough food because they will serve you with lots of foooood. Every combo items come with 2 sides. My favorites are corn, green beans, and sweet potatoes. GOOD price for food court restaurant. ALL po’boy comes w/1 side and 16oz drink. The managers are the owner. They are super nice! If you want fast service on your lunch break, you go here! they value your time. SPECIAL daily items are worth to try as well! my special favorite items: spicy honey wings!
