I really like this yarn store. It’s the closest yarn store to me and I can walk there, so it gets points for that! I have found the owner to be friendly and helpful but not overly so. It’s a fine line to walk in yarn stores between never leaving you alone and being so remote as to be totally unhelpful, but Carol walks it. Love her dogs, too. I like that this shop stocks lower-priced needles unlike some other yarn stores. The selection can be a bit limited at times, but I think that’s par for the course for a small store like this.

Yarn, puppies, and a charming store owner, all in one place? I’m in heaven! I had a whole day to make my way from a far south suburb of Chicago to a north suburb of Chicago. What better way to keep my sanity than to stop at yarn stores on the way! I came into this shop and was greeted by the owner, Carol, and two dogs, Goldie and Richard. Carol was very friendly and chatted with me while I perused her wonderful selection of yarn and notions. When I finally settled on some bulky alpaca with a hat project in mind, she looked up patterns for me. When I settled on a pattern from Ravelry, she printed it off for me. I’ll go back to this shop anytime I’m in the area. It’s delightful.

in LOVE. 2 cute pups, an amazingly friendly proprietor. I didn’t have too much time to explore, but I’ll be back. I got the yarn I wanted, the price wasn’t marked up, and the selection looked very very nice.

My Sister’s Knits is an adorable little shop in Beverly. They have the most unique and beautiful yarns I have ever seen. Once you shop here you’ll never buy knitting supplies at Michael’s again. Carol the owner really knows her stuff and is glad to give you advice on which yarn you need for your next project. Definitely recommended.

I loved this shop. Carol is friendly, and her Golden Retrievers are adorable and very low key(why is my Golden not low key…). She was very helpful but not intrusive. The shop is homey and cute but organized and easy to navigate.

when the local art supply store moved to a newer location that was too far away for me to walk to, i was feeling pretty deserted. and then, a new yarn store opened in a location that was even closer than the art store’s original spot. admittedly, i was a little skeptical because i’ve been disappointed by businesses in the area that consider themselves specialty stores. but, i was starved for another«quick» project to work on besides the book and drawings that i’ll never finish. so, i walked over there with my daughter hoping that she wouldn’t take every skein off the shelf and unwind them one by one. from the moment i walked in, i felt right at home. the store itself is bright, lovely, bohemian and ultra comfy. a large selection of the most beautiful yarn is organized in neat stacks upon stacks upon stacks… i felt like a kid at the dime store, deciding whether i was gonna buy the lick ‘em sticks or the funyuns. we were greeted by the store owner, carol, and her two beautiful dogs(golden retrievers?), goldie and cody. there was a small bench with a small box of toys and books for my daughter to play with while i browsed. she wanted only to play with the dogs. luckily, she was old enough to follow some direction on how to play gently with the dogs. carol was/is so helpful, friendly and generous. she showed me some of her favorite yarns, her new yarns and some quick projects. i picked a fast belt project made from noro daria yarn. she gave me the free pattern and i bought the yarn and needles there. i wasn’t sure that i didn’t have the needles at home, but she was happy to take the needles back if i found i already owned a set. i’ve been back to the yarn store a few times since then. i just recently finished a beautiful EASY scarf made with classic elite tigress yarn which she had on sale. the pattern required US35 needles but she didn’t have any. so, instead, she lent me some size 35 dpns(double pointed needles). after i was done with the scarf, i returned the dpns and bought a set of beautiful wooden needles. the scarf came out so pretty and was so easy to make — i’ll probably make a few more for gifts. my sister’s knits has pretty much everything you need to make anything out of yarn, supplies, education and lots of support. the store also has classes and workshops for the beginner and the advanced knitter. there is a room in the back for classes surrounded by walls and walls of needlecraft books. anyway, if you’re looking for a new hobby to learn, a new project to knit or to meet other cool knitters — check out my sister’s knits. like the store’s motto says — «come for yarn, leave with a friend».
