I really hate that this place CLOSED. They were the best Soul food restaurant in the city of Chicago. Wishing nothing but the best to the owner and her family. last day was 12÷31÷14

Excellent soul food at reasonable prices. Love the breakfast. One thing, when me and my family stopped in on a Sun morning when they first opened the patrons looked at us as of we had purple skin. Not sure if that’s still the case. Still loved everything about it.

I enjoyed«My Mother’s Kitchen». It’s small, attractively usual and the food delivers true to it’s name — like mom’s. Our server was a young man — not much older than 15– 18. He was very careful,(he didn’t want to drop anything) and very respectful. Because I asked questions that he didn’t know the answers to; he ran back and forth from the kitchen to our table. He thought it was funny that I asked so many questions to things he didn’t know the answers about. It was a bit amusing. The catfish was just like my mother’s catfish. The vegetables were very good,(I had the squash and zucchini)…And dessert! Pound cake better than my grandmother’s — her’s was a bit dense, but moist. Theirs was lighter — like cake, but flavorful. I only wish they had a lemon sauce to drizzle over the pound cake. Still, everything was great and delicious. I will be going back — Hmmm seems just right for a place for my lady friends to enjoy a meal and chat. I will be BACK!(there’s carry out too).

Soul food at its best! We tried the fried chicken, mac and cheese, cornbread stuffing, lemon cake, sweet potato pie and the greens. All were amazing, we all left stuffed and satisfied. The prices were good, a little on the high side for what it is but a much nicer setting than most soul food restaurants. The absolute standout for me was the sweet potato pie, the top is caramelized and just amazing! I will definitely be back for a slice or 2 or 3!
