I never understand why there is so much volatility in my customer experiences at Ms Buscuits. Its either really good or really bad. I’m sitting with my daughter for breakfast today and am disappointed at the way an employee disagreement with another over tables is allowed to spill out onto the dining room floor in front of customers. An employee is literally cursing while another employee decided to engage with her in a less than private setting on the matter. Where was the GM to manage this situation effectively? Being in business is not just opening the doors, but effectively managing the customer experience. This is yet another experience at Ms. buscuit where this concept has been taken for granted. I love small businesses, but there are just simply far too many other breakfast alternatives to settle for Ms. Buscuit flaky execution of service.

Came for a brunch and I am not impressed with the service. We had to wait a long period of time for the food. When it finally came one of our dishes had a hair in it. When informed the waitress simply took the plate, no apology no nothing! Another friend ordered a omelet with only egg whites and received a regular omelet. She again had to wait for her food. When asked about a comp for the issues, the waitress stated that since it was her mistake, the manager would not comp for it. HUH?! She then offered to take 10% off but would do so out of HERPOCKET! again HUH? So we get the checks and there is $ 1.10 in cash, attached to her, the missing egg white meal… HUH!!! I am not impressed!

Heard about this restaurant and had to try it, unfortunately it wasn’t what we expected. This restaurant was loud and cold and the customer service was lacking. The food was just ok and the biscuits weren’t good at all. Surprisingly our sever commented that the biscuits weren’t good as well. I was looking forward to a great meal, but was let down by a meal that was sub-par at best. I will not be returning.

Great food! Parking is a bit crazy, but the food is worth it. The prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly.

I went today to close out the old year with a comfort food brunch. Being that its New Years Eve, they were closing at 1PM today for the holiday. My friend and I got delayed on the way there but we called and got Delores on the phone. Delores was AWESOME. Not only did she take our order over the phone to make sure that we were able to get served in case we ended up getting there after they looked the door, but she also took care of us with excellent service when we got there. I’m new to the area, but they made me feel like I was right at home. To top it off, the food was GOOD! I mean really good. I have never been a fan of biscuits and gravy but theirs was out of this world… so good that I even got some to take home. Their chicken and waffles was also excellent. The chicken tasted like the pan fried chicken I used to eat as a kid. I’m definitely adding this place as a must go to spot here in Chicago for good down home food!

I went here with my mom a few days ago. They were just about close but lucky for us they let us order to go! So nice. I got eggs bacon hashbrown and biscuits, my mom got grits and eggs. Everything was delicious, even after 30 minutes in the car! I will DEFINITELY be back !

The food was good. I got the chicken & waffles. The waffle comes with scrambled eggs and sausage($ 8.50). To get chicken is a $ 3 surcharge, the wings were smaller than expected but the food was good. The eggs were really good. Living in Boston these past 5 months made me really hate ordering eggs with entrees but they made it well-seasoned and probably beaten with a little milk(if I had to guess). My boyfriend ordered a smoothie $ 5. And it came way after I got my food but they were nice about it so the brought him a full 32 oz looking cup and then another to go. Other than somewhat slow service, the place looks nice, has two bathrooms, TVs, and the waitresses are all friendly. Will come again.

Nice Black owned spot go patronize. First timer for breakfast. Had the Catfish and Salmon croquette option. Those grilled biscuits were definitely a hit.

We got there at 9am. Only a few tables were filled. I ordered catfish and grits, cheese eggs biscuits. Kelvin had French toast, bacon and eggs. It didn’t take long for food to arrive, hmmmm. Inconsistent, the grits were piping hot, the catfish lukewarm, and the biscuits and eggs cold. I wonder how this came about with only 4 tables occupied and at least 12 waitstaff on hand. I guess it’s hit or miss, the place was jumping by the time we left at 10:30, maybe we came too early. Also any chef knows that salt and pepper are basics in seasoning food, but maybe they play it safe, let the sodium level be the patrons choice. I liked it better when it was on South Chicago, the mom’s place it ain’t. But at least the food came hot.

I stopped here for brunch today while in the area running errands. My experience was just ok, the food and the service was neither terrible or exemplary. My visit was entirely mundane. Ive heard some hype about how great the biscuits are, im not impressed. The next time I’m in the area, I’ll go to the chicken and waffle place instead..

I’ve been here now 3 times and I think I land at a 3. It stays pretty busy and service can be hit or miss, but you can tell it isn’t intentional, they are just that busy and may or may not know how to work the kinks out. The catfish is pretty good, but small in size for price. The salmon croquettes are just okay. And you can skip out on the grits and hashbrowns. Most dishes come with biscuits, a side, and something else. so you get a lot of food, but like I said it’s okay. Appreciate it being in the neighborhood nonetheless!

I’ve visited Ms. Biscuits twice within a month and enjoyed my meals on both occasions. Both times I had a Ham & Cheese Omlette. Once with pancakes(which are huge, moderately dense, and tasty) and the next time with biscuits(grilled and fluffy). I also chose to have the hashed browns with green pepper and onion. The portions were generous and presented well. The wait staff was feiendly and courteous and our food was served promptly and at the right temperature. I’ve read a few bad reviews so I’m reserving 5 stars until I visit a few more times but overall my experiences have been wonderful. Definitely worth the trip especially if your on Chicago’s south side.

I recently moved back to the area and was excited about coming to Miss Biscuits as I hadn’t been in quite some time. I really try to patron businesses in the community but I will NEVER come back again. The sad thing is the food is good but the service is horrendous. I’m actual writing this review as I’m eating, it’s so bad. We ordered the same thing and she still messed it up and her disposition is as though we’re bothering her. If you want people to patron community businesses, maybe you should treat your customers better… NEVERAGAIN!

Let me just say it can be a bit of a wait for the server to arrive. Also, the menu is a bit confusing at first glance because some items are ala carte or may not be offered combination with entrees. The food is excellent though, and well worth the wait. As long as you’re not in a hurry you’ll be fine. Sip some iced tea, indulge in conversation with the fun wait staff, browse through your smartphone until the magic appears before you!

We arrived just in time to beat the Sunday after church crowd. It was still pretty packed so servers were busy and rare to come around. Food was decent but the portion was huge and we ended up bringing most of the food home. Vegetable omelette with hashbrown and biscuits and gravy — first time ordering an omelette without any meat but surprisingly delicious! generous pieces of veggies, juicy, cheesy, and seasoned just right. hashbrown and biscuits were okay, nothing special. Do note that there is an extra charge for gravy. It’s a small charge so I didn’t mind but would have liked to have been informed when the server asked if I wanted gravy on my biscuits. My husband ordered the denver omelette with pancakes and grits and wasn’t thrilled with his choice. I was excited to try the salmon croquette since so many reviews have mentioned it but didn’t find it to be anything special.

Someone I knew said they wanted to grab breakfast and stated they have been to this breakfast spot that was really good but couldn’t remember the name. So I went on Unilocal and looked for places and mentioned«Ms. Biscuit» he said«YEAHTHAT’S THEPLACE!» I’ve heard of it but never been. The place is a bit loud from all the customers but the service was good, they ask you everything you want including Pork or Turkey. I had a Turkey sausage and bacon omellette w/raisin toast it was pretty good.

We decided to check this place out one Saturday afternoon. We found out they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner so we figured ¾p would be the best time to go. There were a few parties dining when we arrived. We were greeted right away and seated. Our server was hands on in the beginning but became forgetful throughout our time there. I ordered the fried catfish dinner. It came with two large fillets, three sides of your choice and a side salad with one biscuit. The food was seasoned well. I had the red beans and rice, greens and Mac in cheese. The portions were huge and the bill was cheat. The quality of the food was excellent. There were 4 in our party and we had dessert as well the everything was delicious

3.5 stars would be a little more accurate. It’s a shame because it has everything to be a good breakfast place on the Southside but the thing that kills it is service. If you are going during a peak hour like Saturday morning, you can almost forget it. It’s usually a line that sometimes is out the door and even once you are seated, you can almost expect another wait on service. Breakfast is the worst meal in the day to want to wait on as it is but it’s even worse when you are sitting around and you see you aren’t the only one waiting. So where is the food? Luckily, my last visit was a weekday morning so the restaurant wasn’t crowded. Was able to get a seat soon as I walked in. The food is pretty good. I ordered a skillet dish with biscuits. Get the grilled biscuits; they are better, imo. Service overall was ok as well. With this place, it’s all about timing.
