Phenomenal place! Bryan was extraordinary! Fantastic location and very personable! I can’t wait until the tasting room opens!

I enjoyed a bottle of the Caramelized Chocolate Churro Baltic Porter with a perfect medium rare filet steak at the Terrace, in Trump Tower, Chicago. I have one criticism, though, being that it was excessively foamy. I could not pour it so as to get a nice glass with a decent head of foam. I’d have one and a half inches of beer and four inches of foam, which took away from the enjoyment factor of trying out something new.

I am in love with all of their beers, because there is so much interesting flavors in each of their beers. That’s not surprising because moody tongue’s approach to beer is to use the best organic ingredients and to do right by it once it’s in their recipes. The caramelized chocolate churro baltic porter was my first beer from Moody Tongue and I will be drinking a lot of it this winter.

This is a startup self-described«culinary brewery,» opened in 2014 by chef and brewmaster Jared Rouben(formerly of Goose Island) in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood. As yet they have no tasting room; I had my first encounter with their production in bottled form at the North Loop Market grocery and liquor store in Marina City. — Carmelized Chocolate Churro Baltic Porter Pretty interesting stuff. A definite stylistic outlier, strictly for those with a sweet tooth in beer. Opaque black, almost entirely still. Taste is bittersweet chocolate all the way down; might even work as an ice cream topping. Delicious in its own right, but rather un-beerlike. 7% ABV. Four-pack of 12-oz. bottles, $ 15.99 at North Loop Market.
