I’m a fan of Mayflower. Come here for dim sum, come here for dinner, the experience for each is very different in a good way. The thing about dim sum is that each restaurant has their stengths for dishes or weaknesses. If you find a restaurant that you like a particular dish, then focus on that dish. Mayflower to me for dim sum is about value, the pan fried turnip cake(lo-bak-goh) and their noodle dish specials for only $ 5.95. If you go dim sum, you could easily over order because there are so many choices. My rule of thumb is two per person. Never order two of the same kind. If you order a noodle dish or a congee, knock out two. When you have had dim sum all your life like I have, its not that special and I’ve got my default go to dishes. You’ll need to go a couple times to discover what their best dishes are. so…here’s my list of what I would order again. Pan Fried Savory Turnip cake — perfect sear, its difficult to get it right and they have it done right! Beef Brisket pan fried rice noodles — tender braised Brisket, a great sauce and great contrast to crisp rice noodles(not all places crispy the noodles like this so it was a welcome surprise.) Sticky fried rice with Chinese sausage and dried cured Chinese pork belly — if you like fried rice man, this is a good one! Crispy bean curd skin Rice flour crêpe– fans of the rice flour crepes should gravitate toward this as it has great texture along with a more flavorful filling than the traditional beef, shrimp and BBQ pork. In sum, Mayflower is a good place and I will keep it on my list for both dimsum and dinners(which are very good).

I used to like this place, but not anymore. They don’t have egg tarts on their menu! Their dim sum are not the greatest, but their dinner is good.

Hm. The very first time I’ve dined in Chinatown and I have been underwhelmed. I was so confused because I assumed that if a restaurant is full of Asians in Chinatown that it must be an authentic favorite. perhaps my greatest disservice was that I did not order Dim Sum. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and no one — aside from my best friend and I me — ordered actual entrees. Location/Décor — placed near the entrance of Wentworth, it is kinda hard not to notice Mayflower Restaurant. Compared to its more glitzy and loudly embellished neighbors, Mayflower remains subdued. The décor inside however was quite nice. Table cloths, yet they have pieces of paper on top of them. Easy for clean up. But if you are going to have table cloths, don’t ruin their classiness with paper coverings. Service — the servers here are rude. My friend was unsure of what she wanted so it took us a while. The final time she came to receive our order, she sounded so annoyed. We felt as if we were being forced to order. Well once we got the food she did not come to refill our waters. She definitely did not ask if we needed anything else. I was annoyed and I was prepared not to tip(I know. how horrible of me). Where I come from, you work for your tips. I did not feel valued as a customer therefore I did not feel the need to tip for her lackluster service. Well, the insane part is, she literally chased me as we were exiting and told me that I forgot to tip her. I said, «no, I didn’t.» and she yelled something in Mandarin and stormed away.(This alone will be the reason why I will not return). Drinks — tea was piping hot. Tasty. Perfect for a cold Sunday afternoon. Food — pretty good. my least favorite of the places I have tried in Chinatown though. *Mongolian Beef — 3 stars. Really lovely spicy sauce. Chewy beef. I liked the crispy rice noodles underneath. *Sesame Chicken — 4 stars. Delicious, big chunks of chicken. Broccoli was fantastic! *Rice — 2 stars. Hard. And not enough for all of the meat we had. Wish they brought us more like others on this street.

I went to eat there two weeks ago after I saw the«$ 19.99 for 2 Lobsters special» poster on their window. I was thinking it’s too good to be true when I saw the special but my bf insisted of going inside and order this deal. When we placed an order for the $ 19.99 for 2 lobster specials, the waiter said«oh you have to order $ 50 worth of food» which does not include the special then you can order this. But I don’t see this fine print anywhere on the menu or on the poster. The rude waiter then said«you can think about this first» then he walked away. They are so shady!!! After i read other reviews for this restaurant, i understand why so many people give them 1 star. I would give them a zero star. If you want to get rip off, you should come try this restaurant.

Best place for Dim sum always top notch. Never tried the chicken feet but turnip cakes are the best!. They will validate your parking ticket if you park at the lot. Parking stinks in this area.

Updating my review based on the«authentic» Chinese customer service. I’m Chinese, and I understand how it «works»… I’ve been to China and Hong Kong, and this place is the same. Self-entitlement plagues these servers and waiters. They just sit there in a bunch talking and gossiping while you’re the only table waiting to have their rice bowl or whatever filled. After several times of this, I decided to be American and give them a 15% tip… pre-tax. When the waiter saw this, he asked if the dollar amount was correct. You’re asian dude, you know how to do math… clearly it is. You got the tip you deserved, sorry, but not sorry. For him to have the audacity to ask me is clearly uncalled for. Food was OK. Cheers

I frequent this place regularly. However I always dine here in the evening and in today’s lunch they intentionally pad the bill. I talk to the waitress and owner regarding the bill and all I’ve got were denials. The last couple of times we were here, we found charges for dishes we didn’t order. They remove it once we pointed it out. If we didn’t point it out, those mysterious dishes would’ve just remained in the bill. I feel like this establishment is getting really shady and sloppy. Lastly in today’s dispute, I wasn’t allowed to leave until I had tipped 15% even though I’ve made it known I think they padded the bill! Don’t think I will ever visit this place again.

Its a small restaurant. All the food was average at best. I rather go to some of the better and newer places in Chinatown.

Food is decent. A bit pricey. But the hostess is soft spoke. And not very friendly. Must not like her job.

We were so desperate to get dim sum and weren’t willing to wait so long for seven treasures so we gave Mayflower a go and never again. They had very few selections in their dim sum menu and it wasn’t even great. The Sui Mai were huge but weren’t good like I was hoping it to be. The worst was the chicken feet. The skin were so tightly stuck onto the bone I wasn’t given a chance to really enjoy it like other places where the skin is thicker, softer and soggy. The congee with the 50 year old egg wasn’t as bad like I thought everything else was. The service was bad. There was barely any waiters in sight so we had to wait awhile to put in our order and even when we had to ask for silver wear or condiments. The price however was fairly cheap in my opinion but I guess you get what you pay for.

While visiting Chinatown, my sister and I were in the mood for chowmein, and aside from the painfully loud screech of the entrance door, Mayflower Chinese Restaurant was a fabulous choice! The wonton soup had three dumplings packed with flavor and the pork chowmein was to die for! It’s a large serving and they toast the outer noodles to add some crunch to the dish. It was overall a wonderful experience and well worth the money. If they fixed their screeching door, it could be worthy of 5 stars.

Having lunch at Mayflower restaurant around 2 pm. today Walked in, not busy at all. The waitress just tossed the menus on the table. Ordered my food and finally brought the foods and tea. Service is inattentive, never asked me if I need my tea refill or need more napkins .They were too busy watching TV in the back of the dining room. Got my bill and left a small tip. The waitress called me as I was leaving. She said I didn’t tip her enough. So I asked her, what good services did you provided me? She could not answer me. This is very unprofessional way to asked customers for more tip when the service is lousy.

Not recommended at all. This place is not as crowded as the other chinese restaurants in chinatown which is why we came here. But turned out this was a very bad one. The place has a disgusting smell which I think comes from the table. All food was very oily. In top of all, the service given was bad and I was kind enough to give them 10% tips on a lunch but when I was walking out from the restaurant, the server chased me and asked for a minimum of 15% tips in a rude way.

The place was not very clean and smelly. We ordered 3 dishes and 1 dimsum menu. Only 1 of the dish was okay and our dimsum didn’t even come out. They charged us for the dimsum but fortunately I checked the bill and they took that out. The service was not good and they demanded a certain amount of tip. If you didn’t give enough, they will ask you to add more. Not recommended.

Completely fucked up our order and showed no sympathy for it. Instead of trying to fix their own mistake they decided to ignore the problem. They have successfully ruined mother’s day for us. And no, the food is not that good.

If only I can give them 0 stars… We called in for dim sum at 1030. When my sister showed up to pick it up at 1100(I was outside), they told her they gave the order to someone else and they paid for it. Then, instead of remaking the order, the lady ignored her for 10 minutes until I walked in the door to see what was going on. When I walked in was when they decided to see if we wanted to put in that order and it would take an extra 20 mins. I asked her if we get a discount since they gave away our order. She says no because ITWASN’T HERFAULTSHEGAVEAWAYOURORDER. WTF! NEVERGOINGTHEREAGAIN!

Good cheap Chinese food. Probably one of the cheapest dim sum places around here as their large dish is only $ 3.75. Never a wait on Sunday morning. Good congee.

It’s all about what you order! Dim sum fresh and tasty! WHERE’S the meat and veggies in our beef chow fun and bbq pork/chashu in our chow mein!!! Chow mein only had ONEPIECE Chinese broccoli!!! Service unattentive, but functional. Décor seemed newly remodeled, but PLEase do something about the DIRTY dingy women’s bathroom!!! Did they run out of money? Pricing: seemed high for takeout orders of chow fun and mein. Very small portion with no meat or veggies!

Very good food. I’ve been here for dinner a few times and have never had a complaint. The service could be a little faster, but the food makes the wait worth it. They serve things in large portions and you et family style. We usually order orange chicken, general tso’s chicken and fried rice. They give you hot tea with your meal and it is very delicious. I love this place.
