For those of you who don’t know, Markski’s CDs and Tapes specializes in eurodance style music which are mostly imported from various countries in Europe. This is the reason so many of their CDs are so expensive. Vinyl shoppers and tape collectors won’t find much here since Markski’s offers little to none of the aforementioned formats. Back in the mid to early 90’s, Markski’s was my favorite store to visit on a weekly if not daily basis. They had THE largest selection of eurodance music in Chicago. No one else even came close to offering the wide selection of CD singles, albums, compilations and non-stop mixes that Markski had. The Ski Mixes(DJ Markski’s own non-stop mixes), Deep Magic Dance mixes, and Studio 33 mixes alone made it worth while to stop by the store to spend what little money I had on them. However, it was their large selection of rare eurodance CD maxi singles that always drew me to shop like I lived there. Even at $ 10.99 per CD maxi single, and $ 20.00 to $ 30.00 per CD compilation, non-stop CD mix, or CD album, they were worth every penny since it was so incredibly hard to find these import CDs any place else. If you couldn’t find it at Markski’s, you probably couldn’t find it any place else– even online! Now fast foward about a decade to mid 2000. Markski’s stopped importing CD maxi singles around 2003 and since then, I have stopped shopping there. However, they still do sell what few CD maxi singles they have left over in their inventory at discounted prices. Nowdays, their primary inventory consists of mostly CD compilations and non-stop mixes. Their prices have dropped considerably with most new CDs ranging from about $ 11.00(for 1 compilation or non-stop mix) to $ 25.00(for double or triple CD compilations or non-stop mixes). Some older CDs can be purchased at even lower prices from their discount bin. Best of all, they’ll let you listen to any of their CDs before you purchase it. So there’s little to no chance that you’ll get stuck with something that you don’t like. Their staff is also very knowledgable in this area of music. Their customer service is pretty good but nothing stellar or outstanding. If you have a question about a particular group name or song title, they’ll try and answer it. But if you have any special order requests, forget it. Chances are they won’t be able to get it for you. If you’re looking for some of the latest eurodance mixes and compilations, Markski’s is for you. However, if you’re looking for eurodance CD maxi singles and vinyls or any other extremely rare eurodance import CD, your best bet is Ebay and .
