Really convenient if you live in Regents, can feel a bit dirty at times(it has been shut down for health concerns, though I’ve never been sick from anything here). It has a remarkable diversity of food — imports from India, even a few from Japan(you can buy curry roux). Wine, beer, liquor, groceries, snacks, etc, toiletries, even sunglasses. Downsides are you can’t use a card if you don’t buy above $ 5. Some of the frozen food seems like it might be old, I bought Pizza Rolls once and they were all frosted over inside. Sometimes it smells intensely like incense to the point of choking. The prices are all higher than anywhere else in Chicago, probably because of the uh convenience.

This place is great, especially if you are one of the people living in Regents Park where the market is. I can get delivery up to my room or just take a quick walk downstairs to get most of my grocery needs. Sure, it’s a tad pricey but for the convenience it’s totally worth it. And it has almost everything you would be looking for, so long as it’s not some really random specialty item. And they have a pretty large selection of wine and liquor. Their produce can be inconsistent, but the couple of times I went ahead and bought something that looked a bit questionable, like a most-likely-bad avocado, he didn’t even charge me for it. But most of the time the produce is fine. And they have lots of indian food, even frozen, which is fun. The guy who runs the market is super nice and I like supporting his business. At the end of the day, it’s not a supermarket, it’s a convenience store, but a pretty good one, especially if it’s just downstairs of where you live!

Great little store! I have worked in this area for 10 years now and this store has been a little lifesaver. Its located right by LSD. For such a tiny store, it holds quite a variety of products. They have everything you need! They have a cornered section located in the back dedicated to Indian food. They have a variety of spirits including refrigerated wine. Many customers go here to buy their lottery tickets. I hold this store close to my heart because the store clerk ALWAYS has my back. He’s my homeboy! I get my Yan Yan and Pandas FIX over here. They originally only had the strawberry Yan Yans which I depleted the store of. The next time I came back, the clerk(HAPPYASEVER!) told me they got more Yan Yans in. I walk over to the aisle and HOLDANDBEHOLD there were my Strawberry Yan Yans as well as Chocolate and Vanilla! Could you ask for better customer service!!! They lose one star because they closed the deli. They used to make the yummiest and freshest sandwiches that I would eat for lunch everyday. I am now reduced to eating greasy Hyde Park food. *sigh*

This place almost doesn’t deserve mention on the interweb, save for one crucial detail. If you live in Hyde Park and require various spices and ingredients for cooking Indian food, you might be able to find them here. They have a decent selection of dal(in bulk bags) and spices(also in bulk bags). The bags do look as if they’ve been sitting around for a few months, but it sure beats taking the CTA up to Devon Ave. every time I need to renew my supply of garam masala and dal.
