Rating just the wings here. Really fatty, not spicy at all even drenched in hot sauce. Felt guilty during and after eating because they were so fatty. Other food might be good, but don’t get their wings.

Food was very disappointing. Veggie Fried rice was sweet n had to hunt for the veggies.. I did not like the fried rice in the sweet garlic sauce(expected a better flavor) but pad Thai was OK.

I used to live in Bridgeport, so I was surrounded by Chinese restaurants. I couldn’t take a step outside without walking past one. I really miss all the options, and trying to find the best one. Unfortunately now that I live up north there aren’t as many Chinese restaurant options. While walking about up north missing my plethora of options I happened upon MAK, a modern Chinese restaurant. It piqued my curiosity, so I decided to try it. The inside of the place is cute and casual. There’s an alright amount of seating(about 3 tables that fit 4 each). You get to watch the chefs cook some of your food which is always fun in case you’re curious. The first time I ate there I got the MAK-Gogi with mushroom and onions. Not really Chinese food, but I love bulgogi. The portion was kind of lacking. I didn’t exactly get a lot of mushrooms which I was expecting. There wasn’t a lot of eat either. I feel like in the act of trying to properly fill their modern-styled bowls they skimp out the quantity. The flavor was good though, and it was very spicy which I requested. Hard to come by places that actually make their food spicy when you ask. I decided to give the place another try, and I’m glad I did. The next couple of times I ate there I ordered the MAKABC with the blistered green beans to go. This is definitely the way to order food here. Getting it to go increased the quantity by about 1.5x. Plus ordering the green beans equates to one heck of a lot of green beans. They have great flavor, and are cooked well(crispy and not overcooked). The ABC had a typical flavor, but again it can get pretty spicy which is a saving grace for me. If you want to try out MAK definitely get the green beans and definitely order it to go. It’s a decent Chinese food option in the barren north.

This place is truly awesome. I’ve had take-out from MAK at least 6 times and it’s never failed. My most recent visit I tried the quinoa bowl with cooked broccoli and teriyaki beef. WOW! It’s a large portion, so I saved more than half of it for dinner the next day. My beef was cooked to perfection, super juicy and not too chewy. The quinoa was truly some of the best I ever had. It’s flavor was bold, but not too over powering and complimented the beef tremendously. Last but not least the broccoli tasted very crisp and only lightly cooked, enough to be the little splash of freshness my dinner needed!

Great food, fast delivery, and reasonable prices. The Mak Gogi bowl is a wise decision at any time, if you are looking for a recommendation. Portions are pretty generous, but not always completely filling.

Well price… for asian food in Midwest this is interesting twist. They have good asian sake, beers to offer.

Food was ok, I was not a fan of my Pad Thai. My fiancé’s food was a little better.

Great for nights you don’t feel like cooking and the best part is that it’s not too greasy! The healthiest Chinese food takeout you will probably ever experience.

MAK is the MaK Daddy yo! Stumbled upon this local gem just by happenstance and was wowed by the food, flavors and friendliness of the staff. Can’t say enough good things about this joint. Try it.

2 stars for service. I was honestly really satisfied with my order(MAK beef bowl) but the overall attitude of the manager gave me a bad taste and is prompting this review. Here’s my main complaint: Unilocal advertised 10% off online orders and a free fried rice. When I arrived for pick up, I was told I ordered through the wrong online system. I didn’t even know there were different systems and it should have said something about«where» the online order needs to be placed if that’s going to be a stipulation. I know it’s just a few dollars but it’s more the principal for me. I had to show the manager the ad after being told no twice and then she let me know that«she’d give it just this one time.» Pretty sure you should advertise correctly so this isn’t an issue. Also, Unilocal advertises a free fried rice with the order. Didn’t receive that and didn’t feel like arguing. I would have had no problems if I hadn’t felt very mislead.

Healthy asian-fusion food! Tasty, not greasy. Good and fast service. They have good and tasty vegan options and you can also have brown rice, which is not very common to find.

I went to the restaurant today for the art festival on devision, they were selling food outside the restaurant. $ 5 hot wings, I had paid $ 20 and was given my food, I sat down at the restaurant and ate my food, while sitting there I realized that I had not received my change for the $ 20, when I went back to politely ask for my change I was accused of being a liar and a thief and trying to cheat them out of business, I have never been more disrespected and offended in my life. This huge scene was made and I was shouted at for simply asking for what was rightly mine. I can most certainly say that I will never be returning to eat at this restaurant again. At the end of the day it had less to do with the $ 15 and more to do with the way the situation was handled. I actually can’t even begin to comprehend what happened, I am that disappointment.

I was meeting my girlfriend at 2:30pm in the area, and she suggested we eat at MAK. She had been there before and loved the healthier modern Asian cuisine. I ordered my chicken pad Thai from the main man himself Tommy Wang. Owner, operator, king pin! The food was as my GF experienced before… …Top Notch! The quality of all the ingredients made us smile. Tastes great Tommy! Can’t wait to try a cupcake!

We were not impressed with the food here. There wasn’t much flavor to our dishes and the greens could have been prepared better. Also balance wise we had way too much rice(or not enough greens/meat). The restaurant is located at a nice strip though and sitting outside on a summer evening was quite nice. All in all I wouldn’t recommend this place. I’ve had better asian food.

MAK is FAST, YUMMY, and CHEAP! My friends and I LOVE their FRIEDRICE. It must be the sauce they use, but it is soooooo good!!! Plus u get a free fried rice if u check in on Unilocal.I’ve gotten food there and food delivered multiple times. I would also recommend their ABC(amazing broccoli chicken). The eggplant and noodle dishes are great as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating with umbrellas(great for the summer). They also have alcohol at this restaurant. This is a great Americanized Chinese restaurant.

chinese fusion cuisine… they claim the meats are raised naturally, produce and goods bought locally whenever possible… which probably explains why their prices are on the high side… i ordered a mak-gogi bowl for $ 10(korean style marinated beef served on top of white rice)…it is actually good and flavorful(I just can’t get over the price they charge for this since it’s very little meat and mostly rice)…the staff were very friendly… i was introduced to «chork» the illegitimate offspring of the unmarried«fork» and«chopsticks» …

More than anything, MAK was a four-star for me and not a five-star based on the value proposition… all night, I kept thinking: «Is Chipotle with higher-end ingredients worth 25−30% more in terms of cost?» At the end of the night, the answer was no. I tried a MAK Wrap last night – MAK Beef, hot sauce, brown rice, seasoned broccoli. Very tasty. The hot sauce isn’t hot if you are big into spicy, but the MAK hot sauce will open up the nostrils a bit, for sure. Plenty of rice and broccoli and the team didn’t skimp on steak, although they didn’t go the other way and overstuff the thing with steak either. Flour tortilla was fine. The broccoli was great but almost too crunchy to fit with the other softer ingredients of the wrap… I’m not sure I would get the broccoli in the wrap again, but I would order it as a separate side. With no one else in front of me in terms of orders(well, at least walk-in traffic; I’m sure other call-in/web orders may have upped the queue), it took about 10 – 12 minutes to get my MAK Wrap for dine-in service. Tax and tip came out to $ 11.22(this included a fountain soda); just based on normal prices, this is only about 15% more than you would pay at Chipotle, but the burrito at Chipotle might be enough for two lunches. At MAK, I think the Wrap is the right size for most people, but a bigger person should definitely get at least a side, maybe two. My four tablemates reported that their MAK Bowls were fine, and that the MAK Gogi was better-than-average.(My wife is holding in the three-star range, so it sounds like my meal went a little better than hers!) Unadvertised drink special: on Tuesdays, beer is half off if you buy an entrée(wrap or bowl). A note on space – if you are rolling with a party of four or less, you’ll be fine dining in here. Five or more – or, 3 – 4 adults if you play for the Bulls – would be a problem here, since the booths are not too big(I’m 6’1″).

Nothing special or worth going back to. Food was quite bland. Given it was cheap and fast. Ordered Beijing noodles(very bland), Mak chicken(it was really sweet and also bland), and chicken Wangs(probably best thing on the menu) and donuts(they were not bad). We ordered everything spicy but it’s not at all spicy for spice loving people.

I’ve been coming here since they opened and I was super skeptical at first. I thought what a weird name, Modern Asian Kitchen? Super fresh to death and what modern Asian restaurant would be complete without some falafel You can do it healthy or not so much like my homey Shahir did once, chinese donuts, General Tso’s chicken and a coke is not very healthy, boriqua. I recco: daikon, beef bowl with rice and that pad thai. Lots of combos here, quick delivery, I have been here a lot and its nice to have a great option so close. Service is on point.

MAK is great for when you’re craving basic Chinese food in large quantities but still want to keep it healthy. I ordered the MAK chicken bowl. I wanted some tofu too, and the guy at the counter was kind enough to let me do ½ chicken and ½ tofu. Pros: VERY generous portion(I could’ve made it into 2 meals if lunch wasn’t my first meal of the day when I dined here). Brown rice is an option. So is quinoa! Cons: If you want more than 1 veggie side for your bowl, it’s an extra $ 4. Sad face. That’s definitely way too much for such a small amount of veggies. I could buy at least a pound of(organic) veggies with four dollars. When I was close to finishing my bowl, there was at least 1⁄3 an inch of sauce at the bottom of the bowl. I know it probably came from the veggies and tofu, but eating stir fry rice isn’t so fun when it gets soupy. The chork is an interesting concept. I reverted to a spoon and chopsticks after 30 seconds, though.
