I’m a new comer but so far i can say about lockology shop it’s looks very clean and improvising. I can tell by reviewing some of the reviews that they have a group of skilled professional workers and a excellent place to do business at. I never been to lockology shop yet but I hope that my experience at lockology shop is as good as it appears too be. thankyou.

Do NOT recommend, especially Eric. Extremely ghetto and unprofessional. I don’t have experience with others, but he is extremely lazy and unwilling to accommodate working professionals. I called and made an appointment for the same day. Spoke to Eric and was told he had availability to do my hair that day no later then 5 pm. Mind you, this is a weekday, and I work, but I left work super early so I could get there by 5. I arrive, tell them I’m there for Eric, and am told to sit down. I sit in the waiting area and wait for about 10 mins before Eric saunters over, with HIS hair wet and in a towel, and informs me that he has taken his last appointment for the day. I reminded him that I spoke to him that day and he told me he’d do my hair, but he proceeded to deny even having that conversation with me. I don’t know if he was under the influence of something, or just lazy and unprofessional, but I will never patronize this shop ever again!

I won’t bad mouth Locology but the best stylist has left. Ansah Ofei has relocated to «Real Rootz Chicago» located at 500 E. 47th Street. If you want to follow his lead, the number is 773−587−4697.

I was able to call early on a Saturday morning and get serviced that same day which was good for a Saturday. The owner, Lenny seems to care a great deal about customer satisfaction and I really appreciated that

I haven’t been here in a while and I have only visited the salon one time over a year ago. The young lady who serviced me was very nice; however, I have definitely decided not to go there anymore. Mainly because of the gook that was used in my hair. At the time I still had twists that were transitioning to locs. The gook added a lot of build up in my hair and was a task to get out. It was then I learned that all of that product use is not necessary. She told me to come in every two weeks to get them done. That was a red flag for me. I understand it is a business, but that much manipulation and tugging at the scalp is not good for the hair. Secondly, paying you every two weeks for maintenance seems out of this world. Many people enjoy the place and that is great for them. I have also seen some very thick, long and healthy looking locs come from out of there. It is not for me though.

I stand by my earlier review in terms of quality, but don’t bother going on a Sat. Just don’t. Unless you like wasting time because it’s overbooked.

I called Lockology Salon and let them know of my frustrations and asked for prices and I was told to come in for a consultation. I drove there and met with Lenny the owner. He looked at my hair and told me it would be $ 95 for my services. I have my hair lock-stitched, so it is more than the palm roll. I agreed thinking he was going to do my hair. He introduced me to Zaki and told me she would be doing my hair the next time I came in. Zaki and I went over the price and my appointment for the next time. She seemed very professional and genuine. When I came in for my first appointment 4 weeks later, I thought Zaki really did a fantastic job on my hair. The next time I came in, which was 8 weeks later, Zaki charged me $ 135 dollars. It went up to $ 125 for the service and $ 10 for the style. At no point did she contact me and tell me she went up on her prices. It is very unclear at this place if the stylist are independent or they work on their own. I was given a price and she just went up on me. There is no price list, there is no website that you can refer to look at prices. It seems as though someone can just go up because they feel like it. Anyway, I paid her $ 135 for the service, I should have said something about the price hike at the time but I didn’t. I felt she did a really good job and I honestly didn’t mind paying her that much even though she was extremely unprofessional and went up on the price like that. The next time I came in, 8 weeks later, Zaki charged me $ 145 for the same exact service she had provided the previous two times. This time she added another $ 10 for prunning, which she had done previous with no extra charge. I had spoken to Zaki about my experiences with other stylist and the horrible service. She told me she worked at Amazon salon before and how they would nickel and dime people on any little extra thing. She told me she just charged a flat rate for her services. Which proved to be untrue. Anyway, once again I paid her $ 145 after the service was over. This time not only did I get charged more, but I waited over an hour before she even started on me, so by the time she finished I had somewhere I needed to be. I paid and rushed out. The next day I called Zaki because I was furious at her continuous price hike. I went down the line and asked her why is it that every time I come in she charges me a different price? She really had no answer for me. She did say that she does a good job on my hair and at the price Lenny charges, she felt she should charge more because she does a neater job and uses products. I’m thinking to myself«shouldn’t you and Lenny have worked that out before I came for my consultation?» Shouldn’t you do a good job anyway. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The price I was given was $ 95 and this is the price you agreed to do it at in the beginning. She told me how she went up on her prices and she never notified me by email, phone call, or text. Zaki is extremely unprofessional. She does a fabulous job on your hair, I’ll admit that. She really does a good job, but she treats it like a hustle instead of a profession. It’s about getting over on you for that extra $ 10 or $ 20 dollars. I was tipping Zaki, I was even in the process of referring other business to her and she was just very shady. I have clients in my business and I would never treat people like that. Anyway, I expressed to her how I felt about her shady business practices, I was professional with her in expressing that. But I had not planned on going back. A week later she called and apologized for everything and stated that she would do my hair for $ 95, even though she felt she was worth more. We went through what would be included in the service. She told me general maintenance, wash, prunning. I thought it was great that she did call and apologize, so I agreed to come back. The last and final time, I get there for my appointment and I wait for 45 minutes. She had not gotten to the shop. I live pretty much in Evanston and she lives in the neighborhood and I have to wait 45 minutes… but ok, I think this is the $ 95 service :). She did my hair quicker than she had ever done it before. I think I was out of there in less than 2 hours. I would usually be in there for close to four. It was clear she was not excited to do my hair. She finished, looked me in the face and told me she prunned my hair, when she didn’t. I knew I would never come back. I wrote her an email and let her know how unprofessional she was and if she didn’t want to do my hair for $ 95, she shouldn’t have offered. I can only speak for my experience here. There truly needs to be a price list or a website to refer to. It’s very unclear whether stylist are independent or work for the salon. My experience with Zaki was very inconsistent.

My normal stylist was booked and after reading the great reviews… I was sold. I arrived at my 9AM appointment and was greeted. I then sat down to wait for my appointment to begin… and wait I did. A half hour went by, then an hour, and then an hour and a half. During this time frame, I was never approached by any of the stylists in regards to whom I was waiting on. By the two hour mark, I approached one of the stylists(that was free) and asked which of the stylists had me in their book. The stylist, who was there all along, was located and I was told that he simply«forgot». As consolation, the free stylist offered to take over my appointment. I agreed and 5 hours later, I was out of the salon. I appreciate that the free stylist offered to take over my appointment. However, the events that led up to the moment left a bad first impression.

I enjoyed my experience at Lockology. I went in on a Saturday morning and was in and out in 2 ½ hours. The place was a little dusty but so is my house so I will not hold it against them. Overall it was OK.

Let me just begin by saying I’m pretty applaud that I AMNOT the first to review this spot. However, I guest sleepers miss the train or whatever analogy you choose to use in this case. Whatever! I begin going to this spot about a month ago to partake in a very serious transformation: Afro to locks. Yeah, I know… whatever. Of course, anyone who’s been natural with an Afro for 4yrs will be a little reluctant to go through with this. But, I must say, I appreciate the professionalism that is this«lock factory» on the corner of 43rd& State. My technician of choice? Mike, who calls himself amazing, I must vouch for him. My initial twist were EXTREMELY nice, and FULL. He also laid them perfectly to frame my face and not make my head appear to be larger than it is(you definitely see the picture. I CANNOT wear a fedora). Quality of Work: Definitely stellar. After 2 weeks, I think my hair looks a mess, yet, while on the train, I’m still getting compliments on how neat and shiny they are. Technique, although I have no clue if this is normal, is very precise. You don’t see one person doing it one way, and the man next to him doing it another. You can be sure that when you go to Lockology, you’re getting something that you need for your tresses… CONSISTENCY. In my opinion, Consistency breeds loyalty. Cleanliness of Shop: I’m not sure, but I honestly don’t think I can feel more at home in this piece. How this spot is decorated is the aspiration for my living room. It’s NEVER dirty, the art work is superb and I truly need one of those mirrors somewhere in my house. Overall, I’m glad that I was directed to this spot by some random person that is my cousin, although she doesn’t go here… IDIOT! I feel like I’ve told Mike how much I’m in love with him, if I haven’t, I’m telling you my fellow Unilocalpers, I’m totally in love with Mike. Now, if I can just convince him to move in with me to have his skill at my beck and call.
