Another dingy, nondescript liquor store interchangeable with any one of Chicago’s many other umpteen hundreds of. You know, uneven floors, lottery litter, and a ding-dong bell? ANDYET. $ 11.99 for a 4-pack of Daisy Cutter. lol, wut? ELEVENNINETY-NINE. Isn’t that the same 4-pack that sells for $ 9.99 at Sheridan«L» Liquor just 1 block south? And 9.99, or less, at just about every other liquor or grocery store on the North side of Chicago? 11.99. Now THAT is bold. *slow clap for Lakeview Food & Liquor*

New owner has really taken this run down shack and done a complete 180. GREAT beer and wine selection now, and they’ve brought in new freezers to start carrying actual food. Hell, you can even pick up a schooner of la fin du monde for a very reasonable price.

I just drank sour milk from there! It’s like the items are not kept cold enough.

Do I have to play the Lotto when it’s over 100 million? Of course! A man has a dream of lazy days ahead. This is one of the only places with a lotto machine that’s not Jewel. The girls behind the counter are always pleasent, and the store has just enough odds and ends if you are in a bind. If you’re looking for some handheld spirits or cigarettes, this is the place. The variety is not large, but they have all the major staples. As with most liquor stores, be ready to over pay a little bit.

This place is overpriced, which I guess is expected from convenience stores. However, my major gripe consists of their hours, just tonight, I was on the el, daydreaming of a nice overpriced bottle of wine from this place, their hours are posted closing time at 11:30, my train arrived at Sheridan at 11:19…my heart and my legs racing down the sidewalk, almost got hit by a car crossing Irving, I saw the sign still lighted… I ran up to the door and got a shoo with a dirty look from the red-haired lady already closing up. WTF??? My cell phone says 11:24! Very disappointing, since it wasn’t the first time this has happened. I go to bed sober tonight! Credit cards are accepted but it’s a $ 10 minimum.

Yeah, I was super pumped when I first moved to this block. Convenient, and the workers are pretty nice. BUT. I’d rather walk one block south for way cheaper liquor with a much larger selection… or north one block to Jewel where the prices are right on! Literally – Lakeview Liquors has EVERY single kind of white Barefoot wine… except Moscato. In fact, they have NO brand of Moscato anywhere. That is my favorite wine to binge drink, by the way. ;) Okay okay, I’ll go there when I need a quick case of beer – but that’s about it these days.

Have you ever been just chillin’ at home and thought«wow, I could really go for a glass of wine» and had none? Have you suddenly run out of milk and refuse to eat your Apple Jacks without a proper milk-to-jacks ratio? This is where Lakeview Food & Liquor comes in. They have all of the essentials that you might need to run out and purchase at 10 pm in your pajamas.

Now, I’m partial to the Sheridan«L» Liquor shop just down the block, but parking over there is torture… and I just needed to run in to grab a bottle of champagne for some BYOB dining… However, the nicest bottle was Korbel(not a bad choice), but I ain’t about to be dishin’ $ 16 for Korbel. Can’t possibly… when you can get it at Jewel for about $ 9. Believe it or not, Sheridan«L» Liquors has a pretty extensive wine selection… so if you’re on foot, I suggest heading over there, just a block or so south. However, if you are in this complex(Chinese restaurant, drycleaner) this is a good option to pick up some booze, or randomly overpriced groceries :)

I admit it, the BF and I go here often for the bare minimums — beer, soda, milk, cigarettes. Prices aren’t too out of control. Most of all, it’s convenient.

Oh how you taunt me with your big yellow sign. You scream booze! This is my go to place when my liquour guy decides to close his store at 9pm on a Sunday night. Variety of wine = eh Same goes for the beer selection. But when I’m desparate to git my liquor fix, this will do. Oh, and the items on the shelves look like the creepy guy from«Sleeping with the Enemy» arranged them. I’m almost afraid to touch anything.

Altoids, alcohol, aluminum foil… you name it and they have it on some shelf w/in their 4 walls. Typically, I venture in here at least once in 24 hrs for my AM bottle of Diet Coke but often pop back in to grab some elusive item that didn’t jump in my cart at the grocery store. While you won’t find a Slurpee here like chain convenience stores, you will find the regulars cajoling by the coffee pots and chatting w/the owner. If only they carried at least one high-end champagne and wine brand this would be the best one-stop-shop spot ever!
