I have natural hair, which I wanted to wear blown out for a special event. The service was great, the stylist was on time, price was reasonable, and I loved my hair. I received compliments throughout the event. The only reason I’m giving this three stars is due to time. My blowout took 3 hours and 15 minutes. While I loved the result, that is about 3 times as long as it has taken previous stylists. So I recommend going here if you have the time and patience.

I have been going to Kuttin Ege for a few years now. When I first came to K.E. back in 2010, my hair was dry and damaged. I had just went natural and was tired of rocking it in a curly fro and wanted to wear it straight for a bit but was nervous after a few bad experiences with other stylists who caused heat damage to my hair. Paul gave me a great cut & color (pretty blonde) and I was hooked ever since! I have naturally kinky curly hair (no relaxer) so its difficult to trim my hair. He has never trimmed too much off, which can be annoying. I’ve had my hair colored several times since 2010 and it has not broken off. I send all of my friends here for cuts and colors. Wendy & Paul are dedicated to hair CARE which is huge. They try to limit heat used on hair, are thorough with shampoos, and knowledgeable about the products going on your hair.
Service does take a little bit of time. That’s an area I would improve, but the positive to this is that no one is rushing on my head. If it takes a minute to blow dry and flat iron my hair (which it usually does because of my texture), I’m never rushed just so they can get to the next client. When you’re in the chair, Wendy & Paul focus on you and your needs. Sucks if you’re waiting but GREAT if you’re the one being waited on, haha. Always a joy at Kuttin Ege

Once upon a time, a young girl fell victim to a bad haircut from another salon and inherited a crooked bob. That victim was me. And my hair saviour? it was Paul. My hair was already too short and wavy to top it off, but Paul was able to reshape it without sacrificing any lenght. Eversince that day, I’ve been going to Paul for 5 years and refuse to go anywhere else.
The man can do magic with his shears. Not only that, this place understands hair texture and will give a client realistic feedback/​consultation on color or cut. I went from jet black asian hair (and if you don’t understand asian hair, it basically turns orange when bleached) to blonde without any issues. My skin is a bit darker as well and Paul hit the mark on the proper shade of blonde to match my skin tone. I always get compliments on my hair color. Staff and service are amazing! It’s also nice to go to a salon that doesn’t push to sell their products. Sincere recommendations, you will receive but the pushy sale will not happen.

The staff at Kuttin Ege is beyond heaven sent and the service is beyond amazing! Thank you Paul and Wendy for bringing my hair back to life!

After I received an email to change my personal review of this salon from the Owner, I decided to come on here and revisit this issue. I still stand firm with my overall impression of the services, it was not what I came for.
It was not a curly haircut and in fact my hair is still growing back out from the cut. I went back to my regular stylist in Detroit and he attempted to rectify the situation.
After I contacted the BBB about my concerns here at Kuttin Ege I received a $ 45 refund out of the $ 80 I paid, from the owner who apologized that I was unhappy. He lectured me that I should stand up for myself more and said that he wished that we could have handled the situations like adults instead of involving the BBB. Honestly, I was sick when I went in for the services and after being there 4 hours and being burned and so on, I was in no mood to discuss proper treatment — I just wanted to hurry and get out of there. I figured I’d just chalk it up as a learning lesson and pay — until I found out the price that I couldn’t stand by and later became more upset by the way my hair looked over time.
I handled the situation how I saw fit. Needless to say — I still would not come to this particular salon wanting your hair cut for naturally curly style — perhaps if you want a different style it may be the place for you.
