The boat noodle soup here deserves 5 stars alone!!! Holy crap!!! The complexity of the broth, different meats, fresh vegetables and rice noodle… Omg moment. I just ate a quart. Yeah, a quart. Don’t judge. I have expandable pants on. It was one of the best soups I’ve had in years. Between the balls, slices of liver, beef and pork… Wow. It was worth not eating the past 13 hours. Phenomenal soup. So fulfilling. Rich and light at the same time. I did order some chives dumplings. Although they were ridiculously delicious, there were only 2 in the order. I won’t be ordering them again for $ 5.75. I’ll try the pot stickers or something else. They were 4 star material, for this omnivore. I’m not going vegetarian for them. Pad Kee Mao. Get it. NOW. One of the best in the area. It’s usually my mainstay, but the boat noodle soup… Did I mention it?!? Wow. Best meal in a LONG time!

Super authentic little Thai place in Lakeview/Boystown. My friend just moved to the neighborhood and said she had already been to Krung Thep three times in her first week! So I knew I had to come by. Venue is small and cozy; food is insanely delicious and surpasses expectation. Service was friendly. We had the chive dumplings to start — tasty but nothing to rave over. My friend had the pad thai and she said it was good, but the Pad See Ew was better. Other friend had vegetarian Panang Curry with brown rice. I, on the otherhand, loved LOVED my Krung Thep Noodle Soup(was listed as a tom yum noodle soup special but the waitress told me they were the same thing). It was packed with spicy flavors and delicious toppings(boiled egg, ground pork, mushrooms, I think tripe, egg roll) I was sad when my roommate ate my leftovers so now I’m already looking forward to the next time I visit to try more of the menu!

Service was very attentive and friendly. Food came out fast. BYOB with no fee is a plus. The space is small but they do take reservations. it’s worth a try. I don’t understand why the raving reviews. The menu is very standard Thai food — nothing too unique or unheard off vs a few other authentic places in the city. Portions were decent and taste was just okay. The cooks seem to have a heavy hand with the sugar. Everything was just too sweet. The usual spicy dishes like basil chicken(pad kra prow) or pad kee mao were not spicy as expected… The basil chicken was almost sickeningly sweet. The pad see ewe with beef was a good dish and it was sweet as it should be. The curries were thick and sweet. Where’s the spice?

Came here with a group of 9 others. Our space consisted of tables pushed together which comfortably accommodated us. We were consistently checked on and our water glasses were well attended to. I ordered the pad khee mao($ 11) with chicken. Beef, shrimp can be added for an extra charge. The portion was a little smaller than I was expecting but the dish was very tasty and didn’t skimp on the meat. I also noticed that the dish was prepared quite a bit sweeter than I am accustomed to, but the sweet flavor was well balanced against the heat of the dish. Though I was a little underwhelmed, given the phenomenal reviews, I wouldn’t mind returning to give it another shot.

This is the best Thai place in Chicago from what I’ve tried. The food is so flavorful and spicy. This place also has some good vegetarian options. Loved their papaya salad, chicken basil and tofu fried rice.

I love their crab rangoon! I get takeout from here all the time when I’m in a rush– and it’s great. My sister and I tried the pad thai and she loved it. Pretty standard food but tastes great. If I have to choose a thai place near my apartment I choose this one.

Really great Thai spot in lakeview. Better for take out than dine in and is ready fairly quickly. The crab rangoons are to die for and portion sizes are easy to share.

Reviewing based on delivery service. Ordered straight through Unilocal(I’m one of those people who hates calling) and it was at my door within half an hour. Granted, this was a later order(9:45 on a Thursday), but still more prompt than what I’m used to. I ordered the Pad Thai Chicken and Crab Rangoon. Pad Thai Chicken was spicier than I expected — they had 4 levels of spicy on the app: mild, medium, spicy, and extra spicy. I ordered medium and it felt like spicy. Next time I’ll go mild, but at least my sinuses have been cleared in the meantime! Other than that, the Pad Thai was one of my favorites I’ve had in the city. Crab Rangoon was delicious. Again, one of the better ones I’ve had in Chicago. Overall I’d give 4.5 stars on this one. Good food? Check. Fast delivery? Check. Good price? Check. Open late? Check. 10⁄10 would order again.

If you are looking for authentic Thai food this is a must. Small but cozy place in Boystown. My friend lives within walking distance, so we come here a lot. It is also open late til 2a. Everything I tried is really good. Papaya salad was great, pad kee Mao, pad Thai. Just had the curry fried rice, it was soooo good!!! I can’t recommend this place enough. Ask for Samme. He is the best!

So far my favorite Thai restaurant in town! First time I tried grubhub, sadly, they don’t have pick-up in grubhub. so if you want to order pick-up to save you some waiting time, just go to their website to order directly from there. I’ve tried Shrimp and pork Shumai, which is my favorite Asian dim sum. The Shumai is huge and has lots of shrimps in it. Udon Pad Khee Mao shrimp is awesome too! I love Udon noodle, but the stir fried style definitely added flavor to the dish! Not a fan of spicy food, so I tried Massaman curry. Love the sweet coconut taste of it. Perfect company with rice and tofu in it. Plus, the owner and servers there are super friendly!

No longer a superb value, as prices have increased $ 2 since last year, but it’s still a go-to, especially given the location and late hours. Skip the straight-from-freezer potstickers and go for the juicy, crispy wontons. They’ve improved on their recipe for chicken satay, which is now tender and delicious. Green papaya and chicken salads are as standard as they come. Avoid the miserably soggy pad khee mao; better is the tamarind-heavy, classic pad Thai. I still love their fragrant curries(get the green with catfish). And the spicy tom yum noodle soup, with its layers of flavors and textures, will always hold a special place in my heart.

It was okay. I had the black pepper catfish which was decent. Some of the fish was dry and hard, while other parts were not. The flavor of the gravy they stew it in was sweet and peppery; I actually liked it. We also ordered the wings, but I didn’t care too much for them because they were dusted in what tasted a lot like that candied chili powder I used to love as a kid. Anyway, the dusting was not a good look. The service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere was cute. I’d probably return but would try another dish. They’ve got some other seemingly appetizing options I was contemplating before settling on the fish. We’ll see.

Great environment and great costumer service, we got the beef salad and it was the perfect level of spicy. We came during the week so it did not seem so busy. I would recommend it for anyone who who is a Thai food aficionado.

I went here recently for an impromptu dinner out with my boyfriend a couple Thursdays ago. I love trying new places in our area, so this was next on my list. The ambiance was dim and romantic. We ordered the pan fried potstickers and crispy wontons for appetizers. Both were delicious. For dinner, we both ordered the pad thai, mine with tofu and his with chicken. Both were so delicious! Probably the best pad thai I’ve ever had. Prices were about $ 1 – 2 more than I’m used to paying for Thai, but it was totally worth it for the ambiance, service(which was excellent), and presentation. This is our new local Thai spot!

We came here for a late night dinner on a Wednesday at 9PM, and there was only one other table in the small(but cozy) restaurant! I ordered the barbecued chicken, which had generous portions and was prepared in a completely different way(with different spices) than before. The char was authentic. My friends ordered the pad se ew and one of their soups, and were also satisfied. The Thai papaya salad was refreshing and had large pieces of salted soft-shelled crab that helped to balance out the spicy and sourness of the dish. Great service too. Would come here again! Tl;dr — delicious, authentic, and affordable Thai cuisine.

I can safely say these guys have some yummy Thai! We’ve ordered take-out several times– which is quite fast(on weekdays it’s stupid-awesome fast). Pad Thai is tasty and our favorite; my wife orders the vegetable pad thai and she’s happy with balance of veggies and noodles. I love the Penang curry and sub for the brown rice, which btw is kind of a fun/exotic looking brown rice. Quality and value are great, definitely gonna keep them on our short-list!

I love this place! I’ve been walking by for a few months and decided to stop in. I’m so glad I did! This place is a life saver for late night eats. I had the fried sausages for an appetizer and the pad khee mao. Delicious!!! Our server was so quick and helpful too — there is nothing bad I can say about this place!

First time here in Chicago, I had Kor moo yang with sticky rice and also Thai iced tea(orange color) Kor moo yang was good it does comes with a tamarind sauce and the sauce it was good though, when you have it with sticky rice it will tasty more than anything Thai iced tea — it was great not too sweet like some place I had before. Service was good the were nice I keep one star because I needed to have more food here :))

I received a «compliment» last night from one of their friends or employees: «For your review of: Krung Thep Thai Cuisine If you are Thai why don’t you speak Thai? Sorry don’t judge sever. They are welcome friendly customer. Make sure your face is friendly and not like a p…» I don’t appreciate being harassed. Also, I did speak Thai to them.

I’ve meant to update this. I ordered from here a couple more times, and was very surprised that the same dishes I’d had before tasted like fish. It’s a constant struggle with Thai food, but this was so bad that I couldn’t eat it. So… yeah. Inconsistency does not a happy customer make. Definitely not the best Thai place in Chicago — I think I got a little over zealous with that one. Having said that, I did have a couple of kick ass dishes here.

This is my weekly go to Thai place in Chicago. Looooove it! Ask for the Chicken Pad Thai spicy — yum yum. Their crab Rangoon purses are delish! The service is great and the food comes out fast. If you enjoy traditional Thai food then check this place out!

OK! The food was great here. No doubt. I order a couple times from here and I will again in the future. 5 stars! Tonight I looked at the menu and order sukiyaki, which I thought was $ 13 because I didn’t know they have Thai style and American style. I got two shrimps with my food. I was upset then I took it to Unilocal. When the bill came my dish was $ 9, and I wanted to edit my review on Unilocal because I was wrong. Our server should info me about the menu first but she didn’t. When she found out about my Unilocal review and while we were walking out, she gave me that angry look as if I’m wrong. Whatever. Shout out to the guy that came and explain everything to me. Maybe our server can learn a couple things or two from him. Just saying.

The most authentic Thai cuisine in Chicago area so far. I come from northern Thailand, and I have to say northern foods here are the best you can find in the U.S.(at least amongst 10+ places I’ve tried). Portion of food is so big that I can only tried the Lanna Combo, and to be honest, I can’t even finish them. Next time I’ll try the Northeastern foods here!

I have been here twice now and both times it was fantastic. The atmosphere is quaint and small. The restaurant can only fit maybe 30 people tops, but it’s a nice place to go when you actually want to converse with someone else. The first time I went, I ordered Chicken Satay, Potstickers, and one of the spicier curries, all of which were delicious. The satay wasn’t my favorite I’ve ever had, but their peanut sauce was great. When I went again last night, I ordered the Cashew Chicken which was cooked well and had a great sauce that wasn’t overpowering. The staff are phenomenal. The waiter we had was incredibly sweet and attentive and even offered us a complementary dessert(the mango mousse) after we had paid and told him everything was fantastic. There was no reason for him to make this nice gesture, but he did it anyways and little things like that make a place really stick out in my mind. I have been to a handful of different thai places throughout the city, and this will definitely be the one I keep going back to.

We were really in the mood for thai around 11 at night after a long day and decided to order from somewhere somewhat close on door dash. We got the pad thai rice, pad see ew, pad Thai, wontons, and pot stickers. The Pad see ew was pretty good but it could have used a little more sauce. My bf really enjoyed the pad thai rice while I thought it was a little bland, and our friend seemed to enjoy his regular pad thai. In all, it was a good price and late night choice but I would be interested in trying some of their other items.

It’s so difficult to find really good Thai food in the city but this place was rock solid! I always judge good thai food by pad thai + curry and they excelled at both. And if they can tom yum right, it’s 5 stars for me! The place has convenient street parking in the area, the restaurant itself is modern and clean, and the service was attentive. The prices are super reasonable and the quantity sizes are perfect!

Amazing food. So Nice. We have ordered Krungthep Thai a few times, the food is authentic Thai and extremely delicious. It is good delivered, but even better served fresh at the restaurant! The place doesn’t serve alcohol, but like many Lakeview spots, has BYOB service. We brought in a bottle a wine and the server opened it for us, brought an ice-bucket, and glasses for us. Best of all, NOCHARGE for BYOB. Not per bottle or per person, no charge period. We enjoyed our ‘free’ wine and ordered the Crispy Pork, crab Rangoon, and steamed tofu with rice. Our meal was great, fresh, and filling. This place is right by our apartment and we will certainty be back, again, and again

Probably deserves another half star actually, but it just wasn’t very good at all. Ordered delivery and I will say it arrived quite quickly. Got some vegetable fried rice and massamun curry with chicken. The fried rice didn’t have all that many vegetables but was ok. I say just ok because it was really quite oily as well. Definitely not the best fried rice. The massamun curry was similar, just kinda ok. The curry sauce was a bit watery, but my real complaint was that the curry was so full of onion. Had just about as much onion as chicken. Never had a curry with so much onion. I don’t mind some, but c’mon, can’t have more onion than chicken in a chicken curry. I wouldn’t order it again. Had worse thai, but there are better options around.

This is a small and intimate Thai restaurant in Boys Town. My friends were visiting and wanted to just grab a quick dinner before we went on our bar hopping adventures. Arriving at around 7PM on a Friday, we easily snagged a table for five. Service was excellent since there were only 3 – 4 other parties. We got our food pretty fast and the waiter was on point with refilling our water. The ambiance has dimmed lights for dinner time and it is pretty quiet were you can catch up with your friends without having to shout. The food is decent, nothing amazing but it’s not horrible. I got the green curry with chicken and I wished they gave me a bit more rice. For 5 people, the total bill with tax and tip came out to a bit over $ 60. Parking around here is $ 2/hour, and free after 10, which is cheaper than other neighborhoods of Chicago.
