I was told I would probably need ankle surgery for a painful condition after a tendon snapped. The first doc I saw had, in my opinion, bad bedside manner, he was at Dr. Kodro’s office. I did a lot of research when I was told I would need surgery. I then went to a doc that was on the list of Chicago’s ‘Best” doctors in the Chicago magazine in the suburbs for a 2nd. opinion, he agreed w the 1st. doc .I wanted to stay at Northwestern Hospital for a variety of reasons. He told me the 1st. doc is some-what famous for repairing the condition I had and urged me to re-consider him for my surgery. I disliked the first doc so intensely(that is worth a whole nother review) that I asked his office to suggest a different specialist. That is how I came to meet Kodros. I was extremely pleased w Dr. Kodros through-out the whole ordeal. He explained everything throughly and is a very kind and warm-hearted person. Like me, he also has a sense of humour. Just the kind of doc you want when you are getting surgery and facing a lengthy recovery.

Excellent doctor; have seen him for: hallux limitus and sprained ankle. Yes, he was late for my second visit(sprained ankle) but this was an emergency appt. However, he spent much time w/me and I know he is sought after; I drive 3 hours to see him. I highly recommend him.

I had osteomyelitis on a toe, which various ID and Orthos had evaluated with range of thoughts. Finally, my podiatrist strongly pushed for me to see Dr. Kodros. He has been amazing. Though my toe had to be amputated, he was compassionate and even firm from the very first visit. I have never felt rushed; in fact, he is one of the rare doctors who will allow you the time to ask every question you have. His answers are honest and his manner sincere. And he has a good sense of humor.

Pro: If you are looking for a foot /hand orthopedic doctor at a good location adjacent to the Mag Mile, this practice is next door to Prentice. Cons: Dr. Kodros was more than 30 minutes late for my appointment, he belittled the pain I was in, and didn’t spend more than 30 seconds in the exam room at a time. He didn’t listen to me or the questions I had, and his diagnosis ultimately proved to be wrong. While his nurse was pleasant, the rest of the staff in the practice was not — surly receptionist, surly x-ray tech, immature interns. There are better options in Chicago and connected to Northwestern than Dr. Steven Kodros. I almost quit my primary care physician because he’s the one who recommended this guy.
