I had the boat noodles here about a year ago, and I thought they were rather well done. The broth was a little light, but tasty. Overall, the dish tasted pretty authentic, and I enjoyed every bite of it. I’d vote this one of the better boat noodle shops in Chicago.

This place has the best pad thai in the uptown/edgewater area. And I thoroughly appreciate the free canned cokes that they automatically include in the order. I always do take-out here and it’s amazing. Kudos goes out to the King of Thai.

Stellar food. Pretty good BBQ pork & rice. Was expecting fried rice, but probably was my fault I didn’t get it. Chicken & rice noodles were good too. Fish cakes are weird texture, good flavor though. My first try so that’s just me. I liked it.

Tried King of Thai for first time tonight after trying many thai restaurants in the edgewater/uptown area. I ordered pad see ewe with beef, egg rolls, and Tom yum soup. Pad see ewe was great, just what I was looking for. I could have done with a little less salt but overall I would order it again. Egg rolls were crunchy and fresh tasting. The dipping sauce was very good. Only disappointing part was the Tom Yum soup. I ordered with tofu but it was so spicy I couldn’t eat more than one bite.

Okay, so in the intervening two weeks, I’ve also had the Kao Min Kai(steamed chicken and rice), Pad Thai, Thai Crazy Noodles, and sticky rice as a side. Everything has been good. Better appetizers would make this place a goldmine. Delivery is fast, and the food is delicious. I’m sold.

I had tom kha soup with chicken, and the egg roll appetizer. Both were tasty. Prices were decent and the service was friendly.

Overall the food is reasonably priced and pretty good… why only 3 stars u ask? Well… I work down the street, so we choose to order from there since it’s close(although it still takes 45min+ for delivery when I’m less than a mile away)…the first mistake was delivering the wrong soup… then this last order was suppose to be pad thai with tofu… instead it was with chicken… which isn’t cool since the other person doesn’t eat meat. All in all, the food is decent, but getting our orders wrong sure does grind my gears!

I have literally never been inside this space. However, I have ordered from here at least 25 times. I’m not kidding. We have tried ordering Thai food from other places, but nowhere else EVER measures up to this place. The one dish I will forever come back for is their Tom Yum Soup. It is sour and spicy(honestly I order it with Tofu to calm down the spiciness, but it’s ridiculously good), and it has some root-vegetable seasonings similar to ginger. If you’re sensitive to spiciness, I don’t know if this is for you, but you might be able to ask if you can order it less spicy. The other dish I absolutely love is the Thai Crazy noodles. There is fresh thai basil mixed in with tossed wide rice noodles and onion and egg. It’s SO good. I’ve had many other things on this menu. Other awesome dishes include the pot stickers, their Pad Thai, Fish Cake, the roast duck noodles, the tom yum noodles… the list goes on. In short, this place is awesome, it’s inexpensive, and their delivery is always on time. I can’t give a 5 only based on delivery, but one of these days I’ll go in and probably end up bumping them up. Try this place!

I came here with my boyfriend Whitey and we loved the food. We had the PAd Thai and the crab Rangoon. Let me tell you, it was delicious! The server, I think his name was V? Was so nice :) and helpful. He explain each dish very well. He also always had a big smile on his face: D The food was brought out on time and it was mouth watering delicious. I recommended everyone to go there!

Best Thai food in Chicago! The price is right and their delivery is always on time. They have the best Tom Yum soup that I have ever had, every other place is a disappointment after eating King of Thai.

Surprisingly great food! Don’t ask me why I have waited for so long to try it. I am sure glad I did. I had the infamous Roast Duck Noodle and Pad Thai. I give two thumbs up for both very tasty dishes. Give them a try!!!

I join those who say that this place should be busier. This is some of the best Thai food in Chicago. If pad thai is your thing, theirs is the best in the city(this is based on the fact that the sauce is balanced and authentic and not cloyingly sweet, is a deep orange color partly because they actually make it with tamarind, which you can taste, rather than opening some crappy pre-made sauce packet, and the noodle texture is always perfect – not too mushy, not too sticky). If Thai soup noodles are your thing, I can think of few places in Chicago that have real Thai guay tieaw(their duck noodles, wonton noodles, and beef noodle soup are all meals I have ordered and enjoyed many times, and my Thai mom said that their yen ta fo tastes exactly as it should). Other great dishes include the Thai basil chicken(gai pad kra pao), khao man gai, and se krong moo tod(little tasty fried spareribs that have been marinated in something delicious). Their menu is smaller than many Thai restaurants, but that’s because everything they offer is tasty and authentic. Give it a try. Time to start giving this little gem the credit and patronage it deserves.

I was in the neighborhood and amongst the numerous Vietnamese restaurants in the area(yes I even skipped over Tank Noodle!), I decided I wanted Thai instead. I stopped in to order Thai Fried Rice to go and the restaurant was completely empty. It was almost dinner time so that surprised me a little. For the price, the fried rice was very good and spicy — just the way I like it. Friendly staff too.

Came here on a whim after seeing their menu and the interesting items on the menu, some i recognized and some that i didn’t. Do not let the empty restaurant fool you. Though it is a misplaced thai restaurant in an area full of vietnamese cuisine, this place is a gem. They offer so much more than your«regular» thai cuisine.(like boat noodles, tom yum noodles, steamed pork cakes etc) Came here with friends and got the salted crab papaya salad, steamed rice with chicken, drunken noodles and the fried chicken with steamed rice. The papaya salad had the right flavor but the papaya was a bit too ripe so the salad overall lacked a bit of crunch. I also wished they gave more salted crab but im just nitpicking. The chicken and steamed rice here is very delicious and so savory but o so bad for your health. It is so similar to the Singaporean Hainanese chicken rice except the rice isn’t made the same way. The Singaporeans use coconut milk and chicken stock; the Thais exclude the coconut milk and just use chicken broth. Both use oily broths, so the rice has a lot of flavor and is soooo delicious. The sauce is also different, Hainan only has ginger purée, while this is a mixture of ginger purée and sauce. If you get the chance definitely consider yourself lucky that there is no wait here and definitely sit down and order away. Will definitely come here again and explore the other items on their menu.

The Pad See Ewe was Amazing!!! I am particularly critical about Thai food, having taken many cooking classes in Thailand. This is definitely my favorite Pad See Ewe in Chicago so far. The Green Curry here was not my taste, a little too flat– missing the balance of salty and sweet that piques a good curry. I will stick to the noodle and roast specialties here. But the Thom Kha more than made up for it. Sooo amazing and tangy-sweet!!! I would definitely order from here again. Very authentic and delicious!

OK – this place has earned its title. My boyfriend and I are new to Uptown after a few years away and were looking for a new go-to delivery Thai place in the area. After eating my way through dozens of offerings citywide, I think I’m ready to bestow the crown of favorite Thai place to the King. Here’s why: –We both adored our main entrees — pad thai for him, drunken noodle for me. The flavors were very well balanced, the textures were first-rate, everything was. perfection. –Appetizers, good-to-great — the tofu appetizer was super delicious, and the veggie potstickers were fine, if a bit average(as other reviews have noted) –Delivery– A+ — fast and it came with two(apparently free?) Cokes –Prices were great, portions were generous but not insane Can’t wait to order from here again, a major step up from the Thai offerings in Logan Square.

At the risk of the place getting crowded, but in the hope of gathering more people to the dinning room, I must say that King of Thai is the best Thai food in Uptown, IMO. The steamed chicken and rice dish alone is enough reason to give this place a try. It is without a doubt, the best Thai dish I’ve ever tasted. Simply prepared yet so full of flavor. Walking in this evening, a Friday, to pick up take-out, I was shocked to enter a completely empty restaurant. Please, y’all, go to King of Thai! It is worth the visit. It would be a shame it they closed.

In a neighborhood dominated by Vietnamese cuisine, King of Thai is by far in a way the best Thai food you will find. They have a friendly, hard working staff. I strongly recommend their Pad Thai and Mussaman Curry with steamed pot stickers for appetizers. Most items on the menu can be made with meat or vegetarian. They offer delivery and carry out, but the dining in atmosphere is great as well. I’m a big fan of dining on Argyle Street, and I would recommend King of Thai Noodles and Rice above all other restaurants.

I’m not so sure I understand the appeal to this place. From top down, the order was disappointing and overwhelmingly subpar. Papaya salad? One of my favorites. King of Thai’s was delivered after sitting in the fridge for a few days too long(not even close to fresh) and it smelled like death. Tom yum soup? Also a favorite. King of Thai’s was salted far too much, making it inedible. Curry? My dining partner loves it. To bad King of Thai’s was weak, flavorless and lukewarm. All in all, this is your run of the mill Thai place that disappoints in about every way possible. My first and last attempt to eat here. I’ll go to a little Thai place down the road near the Sheridan stop next time.
