I took my 3 ½ year old for her first haircut. We wanted a simple trim of 3 inches off the bottom. I walked in and was taken aback. Is this a salon or a toy store? The perimeter of the store is covered wall to ceiling with cheap, plastic toys of the sort that every child is drawn to, which distracts the kids and forces parents to constantly say«No, you can’t have that. We are here for a haircut.» The next thing I noticed was that this place is filthy. There is hair and sticky dust coating every surface, including the dingy chairs that the children sit in. The stylists’ stations are unorganized and messy, with combs, sheers, and other implements strewn about. Then, the hair cut itself. The stylist put my daughter in the chair and immediately handed her a dirty, sticky iPad to watch. Once it was already in her hand, she asked me if she could have it. I would have said no but damage already done. Then, we told her that this was a first hair cut and wanted to save a lock of hair. She handed us a small plastic bag and got right to business chopping hair off the bottom. We asked her if she was going to let us save some and she said, «Oh, here.» as she handed us strands of hair from around the chair and floor. Everything was done with speed and not precision. She did not section the hair or part it evenly in the front. She did not have my daughter straighten her head or remain still as she cut, so I took over trying to hold my daughter’s head straight and she would cut even if I asked her to wait until she stopped moving. She cut everything to the same length from the back, which meant that the front was about 2 – 3 inches longer than in the back, which she seemed to think was normal. When I checked it for evenness and pointed out that it was not even, she had the nerve to say, «Do you cut hair?» I told her I didn’t, I was a lawyer, but that anyone could see it was not even. She disagreed but said she could keep cutting until I was satisfied. At that point, I said, «No, that’s ok» because I didn’t want her to make it worse/shorter. Then, she became visibly upset when we tried to tip her. Addressing me from across the salon she said loudly, «NO, I can’t take your money. Ms. Lawyer said she didn’t like the haircut and you are never coming back here.» Two things that never came out of my mouth, but she probably read from my face. I politely said that I never said anything of the sort and thanked her again. Overall impression: the salon is filthy, the staff is stressed and unhappy, they take no pride in their work. Stay away from here.

Joann gave my son a horrible haircut. She clearly has no idea how to blend. She has 15 years of experience – I expected a great hair cut! Never going back

Lauren is fantastic! Our grandson was a challenge, she was quick, patient and did a fabulous cut despite his lack of cooperation

It was my 3 year old’s first official hair cut. Joann cut and styled her hair beautifully. She made her feel like a princess. We definitely will be returning. The salon is great– they carry some good hair products along with a selection of toys at a variety of price points. Overall experience was A+

I went in with my two kids which it happened to be both they’re first haircuts. One of my children is a disabled child which I thought this will be a perfect place for her since they’re «kid friendly» except they did not talk or interact with my kids at all. I was watching the other stylist talking and playing with the kids they were working on. This surprises me to see how everyone says how friendly their person was. I didn’t see any kind of friendliness towards my children. Seems like they didn’t like Hispanic kids I guess. I don’t like to assume but complete disappointment. I’m sticking to «Pickles Room» on Lawrence.

Ok haircut. The staff was great but we did not feel too good about the actual haircut

Well today I went in for my child to get his haircut the lady was really nice the haircut not so nice. I asked the woman if she knew how to do a mowhawk she replied yes… my son recieved a shaved head with a few peices of fuzz that stick up. It looks so awful we have to shave his head completly. I will take my business elsewhere from now on.

My two year old is difficult, to say the least. And ever since he turned 1, we’ve been going to Joann and she is a miracle worker. Not only is she quick, she actually styles my son’s hair well. And since we’re Asian, some haircuts work and some don’t. She knows exactly what needs to be done. I tell her what I want, and she does it! Thank you Joann and thank you Kidsnips!

I cannot say enough good words about this kids nips. I have been to other locations and I have never received service like this before. Cindy and Joann were not only professional but extremely kind hearted and personable. My 2 year old is a quad amputee who hates to get his hair cut. She worked with him and treated him so well. It was he best hair cut yet. I also had my 4 month old who was not happy and Cindy went to him and showed him a little attention to keep him calm. No matter how long I have to drive I will definitely be coming back to this location and to these two wonderful ladies! Thank you kidsnips for making my to do list just a little more easier!

We took our daughter here for her first haircut and were lucky enough to have Joann cut her hair. She was the best. So sweet and fast and did an amazing job! We will definitely be back and requesting her again!

Everyone working there was very nice. Good collection of DVD’s to watch. The kids get to sit in a car while they get their hair cut, which was definitely the selling point for my son. Mona did a great job — he looks like a new man!

Made a same day appt for my son, walked in and the stylist was ready for him. They let him pick a movie to watch while he gets his haircut and he sat in a taxi cab. Needless to say he was so excited! The stylist Mona was great with him and gave him the exact cut I wanted. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Got a terrible haircut for my son. Had to wait about 30 minutes(even though we had an appointment), and saw a lot of kids walking out with poor patchy haircuts.

Randomly popped in today after lunch to get my 2 year old boy a haircut. It was his 3rd cut ever, but we like it shaggy. The first two cuts were also done here by other stylists, but both left it little long(totally my fault!) Today though, Lauren did an amazing job. It’s exactly how I wanted it. She was patient with his wiggling, and did such a great job. Lauren’s kindness, patience, and the ability to deliver a fantastic haircut definitely secured her a loyal client in my son. Now, if only I could find a great cut for $ 15 ;)

$ 23 and 10 minutes later, my daughter’s hair looks very much as messy as it did before we went in. I said«keep the length» but that didn’t mean don’t cut the hair. Maybe they’re kidfriendly but not very adept at hair styling? Disappointed.

Great job and solid haircut every time. My son actually has a scar on his scalp which can be tough to cut around. We seem to be able to get a consistent cut there. They have been wonderful in working with him and although we have thought about moving to more of a full service haircut place for consistency Kid Snips seems to do a great job no matter.

I took my 3 year old daughter here for her first haircut. She was donating 8 inches of hair, so it was a big first haircut! She saw Mona and I cannot say enough about the wonderful job she did! I was so nervous that her hair would look terribly uneven and choppy because of the amount of wiggling that takes place, but it looks amazing! Mona measured her ponytail to make sure we had enough, and then really took her time giving her an adorable inverted bob like I had requested. My daughter is normally very nervous and uneasy in new situations, but she did great! They even had her favorite DVD to watch during the cut! They also gave us a cute certificate with a lock of her hair and a picture of her new do!

My daughter went to KidSnips today for her first haircut. We had Jessica who was AWESOME! After reading some reviews on here, I was a little hesitant, but I figured I would give it a try. My daughter received a certificate, first curl, and haircut picture on the certificate. Super cute!!! My daughter did not cry or make a big fuss during the haircut(She is 1 years old), but she was moving a lot mainly her hands and I was so amazed at Jessica’s reaction to her hand movements because she totally knew when to stop cutting and wait because it was unsafe or going to be a hair cut mess. I’m seriously wondering how the staff is trained. I think this is such a great quality to have in a hair stylist, especially working with kids! It was $ 20 for her cut, but they had all the cute little train and police car seats that are so kid friendly. They offer a free movie during the haircut which I thought was a really good idea. And of course like everyone mentioned there are many toys to purchase. Also when I was there, a boy was crying and having a hard time with getting a haircut and the hair stylist was super patient with him. I definitely recommend this place, but just a warning, don’t let the toys consume your child because you will go broke.

We took our daughter here for her first haircut, the stylist worked fast, which is understandable because you can’t expect a kid to stay still very long. My one year old kept turning her head around to try to look at what the hairstylist was doing :) at one point she was also able to get her hand out of the cover and try to swap away the stylist’s hand — yup that’s my brat. I was happy with the haircut, I think she did a great job giving my daugher a layered bob with short bangs. My daughter looks so cute. Some things that could have been improved on: clean up – my daughter was sitting on my lap so I had hair on myself. My daughter also had so much hair on her clothes that I had to change her outfit after the cut was done. I think it’s a great place to take your kid for their first haircut since they give you a piece of their hair in a zip lock bag, along with a picture and certificate. But for my daughter’s next haircut, I’ll try to shop around for a Hair Cuttery or Great Clips nearby that would be comfortable cutting a toddler’s hair. If not, I’ll just come back here.
