so they got a sale now on their apparel… the only time really when it’s worth buying kidrobot apparel since it’s pretty ridiculously expensive full priced… the pirate store is actually bigger than the san francisco location on haight st, but kinda lacks that ‘permanent’ shop feel… i did stock up on some toys though… wish i could buy some bigger items but i gotta think about all of this fitting in my luggage since i’m only visiting… kid robot is always 5 star worthy for me because i love the vinyl toys!

I’ve been a couple of times when I go to NY, but this is sad in comparison(kinda like well a pirate store :)). I like Kid Robot but I’d rater go to good olé local Rotofugi. I did stop in and the staff was nice but they do not have anything that you cant get from Roto(aside from way over priced KR Clothes and bags). So in summation when in NY go to KR when in Chicago stick with the Local Guy.

Yeah I’m a fan, been ordering things online for awhile. It’s nice to see a KidRobot store here even for a short time. The selection here is ok… But Rotofugi is still my first love and Rotofugi has a way better selection and nicer folks working. If you can make it before they close at the end of January then do it!

My boyfriend and I are from San Francisco and I felt like every time we’d leave the house he wanted to go to Haight Street in order to visit Kid Robot. Most of his stories start with, «One time I was playing with toys with Robin Williams in Kid Robot…» So you can imagine how f-ing thrilled he was when he found out they were opening a pirate store here in Chicago. We didn’t get to go for its grand opening(I heard a few people got arrested?), but we managed to go the very next day. My boyfriend was too excited. I must say I was pretty excited myself. The store is pretty awesome. I took advantage of my boyfriend’s excitement and had him buy me several items. The best part of this store is going home and opening your purchases. It’s fun to see exactly which toys you got, unlike when you shop for the same toys at Urban Outfitters and all the boxes have been opened. That broke my boyfriend’s tiny heart. They also have some totally cute clothes, and if I had more money I would have bought them right up. My only issue is that an employee wouldn’t let my friend bring her drink in, but allowed people to bring their dogs in. That was just confusing.
