Rob is the best server we have had Ina very long time. He is fast and keeps tabs on each and every table he has. He never forgets any of your requests and makes sure everything is to your liking. If you can sit in Rob’s section and you will not be disappointed. Some good laughs too! Oh Also the food is great! Quality is great and everything on the menu is delicious freshly made. You can’t go wrong with this choice!

Nice little brunch place in the streeterville area, with plenty of menu options to order from. The wait however on a Sunday morning can be very long since they have limited number of seats. The waiters were very nice, but food was a little too salty(maybe they messed up on that particular batch of potatoes the group ordered).

Short and sweet. This is a weekend around 2ish when business is winding down. Sat like a bride left at the altar for at least 15 to 20 minutes before waiter even comes by. My breakfast sandwich tasted like a rubbery version of a McMuffin(and I like McMuffins). Wife had the mushroom benedict. Had potential but was pretty bland. Our entire meal the couple next to us non-stop non-stopped bashed the food and service. Check took forever to come. After server brings check and card back, just slams it down on the table and leaves. No thank you, hope you had a good meal. Nothing. Two stars because the food wasn’t disgusting and was clean. I really dislike giving bad reviews.

Love this place! For multiple reasons! 1. It’s right outside my front door, so it’s cool a neighborhood quant spot. 2. The service and staff are awesome, if you go ask for Rob he is the best! So are the others I’m just bias!!! 3. The food is amazing, great cooks and always on par! Check it out you won’t be disappointed!

Really tasty breakfast in the heart of downtown! Close to Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, and Millennium Park. Came here for brunch with a girlfriend and we definitely had a great time. We split the egg white omelet with multigrain toast and fruit. We also ordered a caramel latte with almond milk, a regular almond milk latte, the chia seed pudding, and the Greek yogurt parfait. The service is excellent. Our waitress was super chill, came by a lot to check on us but still gave us enough space, and the other servers came by to refill waters, give us extra plates(even though we didn’t ask but needed them), and the ambiance is airy and bright :) Will be back! :-D

More or less an average breakfast place. Would recommend Monkey Bread as an appetizer if you are looking for something on the slightly sweeter side. It’s cooked to a fantastic consistency perfectly gooey, buttery, and crunchy when necessary and topped with naturally sweetened caramelized nuts. Would also recommend the red skin potatoes as they were seasoned very heavily with a rich earthy flavor and cut into perfect bite size bites. Would not recommend my main course: the spicy feta omelette, as it was lacking not only in vegetables and salt, but also in depth and richness of flavor. Honestly, a pretty typical brunch place, but with a variety of juices and drinks!

Oh my foodness. This place is amazing. Monday morning, seated immediately, and the only thing delaying me from getting my food were all the options. Let me tell you, if my stomach was an endless pit I would have ordered everything on the menu. With the help of the waitress, I settled on the Skillet of the Day and was shocked at how filling the dish was despite the deceivingly«small» size. A perfect complement was the Peppermint Mocha(satisfying my Starbucks holiday drink obsession). As for the dessert, we went with the Loukoumades, a greek doughnut with lemon honey syrup and toasted walnuts. Great now and still good later. Also had a taste of my friend’s Bloody Mary and it was good! I was impressed with my entire experience here — food, service, drinks, and modern décor.

Sooo let me tell you why I will NEVER go back to Kanela Breakfast Club!!! I went in to get some breakfast to go. I paid for said breakfast, and sat down at a table to wait. There was a(white) man sitting at a table nearby also waiting for his to go order. He gets his and is on his way. When mine comes out the man says«You’re waiting for the potato pancake right?» I say yes. He says«Did you pay?» With a concerned look on his face. I say yes again. He continues to look at me funny and I tell him he can ask the bartender! He says,(with the same weird look on his face) «Ok…I believe you.» EXCUSEME??? You definitely didn’t ask the other man if he paid!!! WHY would I just sit here and wait to claim SOMEONEELSE’S FOOD??? Why would I dine and dash a SIXDOLLARMEAL??? Never ever EVER will I go back to Kanela!!!

This is our favorite spot for the weekend mornings since its within walking distance. I tried the velvet french toast(actually, any french toast) for the first time there today and it is mouthwatering delicious(minus the calories from it being dipped in sugar and the gooey custard filling) The strawberries on top were a nice refreshing touch since the rest can be a bit overly sweet(there was also a dollop of whipped cream or was it crème fraîche on the side and a little tin sized maple syrup on the side as well(if you wanted to add an extra kick to the already super sweet piece) We also ordered the crab cake Benedict as usual which turned out consistently good. I would recommend the California egg Benedict if you want some greens with your breakfast and the chorizo with eggs is also a good choice if you like spicy(beware its a little greasy though)

This place was overall mediocre. +1 for cool interior, felt sleek and upscale. The food is all pretty pricey for brunch: $ 11+ for most items. The place was packed on a Sunday with everyone running around and angry patrons waiting(one rude couple even yelling at the hostess). I thought the servers were friendly but over worked. The iced coffee I had was the 2nd worst I’ve ever had(very bitter and burned tasting) and took 20 minutes to come out. My breakfast tacos were OK but over priced. Overall with so many other breakfast places I will not come back.

Kanela Breakfast Club is open early at 6am and service is efficient. The menu is limited but includes items like Wild Mushroom Eggs Benedict and Pork Belly Eggs Benedict. I had the latter and it was excellent! This is a great place to get standard breakfast fare with a bit of a twist.

This is annoying because it’s super convenient as a location but… I’ve come here 3 times. 2 times the food was unacceptable, once was ok. After complaining they did improve things in the replacement food but I am concerned about their consistency. Today I tried the biscuits and gravy — the biscuits were so hard you could chip a tooth. I got a chorizo wrap instead and it was way better. Sometimes understaffed, sometimes overstaffed. Today they were massively understaffed. Floors and tables were also dirty, and overall I’m getting a vibe of disorganization from this place. I might give them another chance in a year.

I soooo wanted this to be a great spot, as it’s 2 minutes from my front door. So much so, that after my first poor experience, I wrote it off to being newly opened. Unfortunately, my second visit was also poor, so here goes… The environment was clean and comfortable, enough space between tables, servers were warmly, engaged with guests and although the afternoon sun was firing down on my table, they had a contractor there measuring for window treatments. My first visit was in the afternoon, at which point I’d ordered the Café Burger. The«sunny side up» egg looked more like an eye with glaucoma. It was so undercooked the waitress saw the problem from 5 feet away. How a cook with his/her eyes open could put that on a plate is unconscionable. Undercooked seemed to be the theme for the meal because the pepper bacon was too. Not the entirety of each strip, but sections were almost raw. Again the waitress seeing the pile of inedible bacon commented on how raw it was. To my servers credit, she graciously offered both another egg and extra bacon. Because of my schedule, I declined. Sadly, I was only 1 of 5 tables being served. Two of which were already eating when I placed my order, so I can’t blame the maddening crowds. I’d also decided to take home a signature cinnamon roll, the Kanela Roll. I decided to try it on my 150 yard walk home because it felt warm — and who doesn’t love a warm cinnamon roll, right. Not me with that one. It had that tough stale texture of bread heated in a microwave. The more time that elapsed, the harder it became. That was the experience I’d decided to chalk up to new location and staff. Yesterday I popped in for breakfast. Given their name I figured I was in for a treat. My order consisted of poached eggs, smoked ham and a side of pancakes. Again, a quality control issue. 1st my poached eggs were served in a small bowl of greens. I love greens but not mixed with eggs, especially, aside my ham and pancakes. So, I had to roll them out of the bowl onto my plate. The eggs themselves were grossly undercooked. I’ll take a hot runny yolk all day long but lukewarm, runny whites resembling mucus don’t belong on my plate. The ham had good flavor but had been on the grill long enough to curl, so it was chewy… and unfortunately had too much fat/gristle. The pancakes were light, fluffy and great flavor… but, for three good sized pancakes, they brought our a fru-fru swirl of butter smaller around than a quarter and what amounted to a couple table spoons of syrup. When I requested more, I received a 2nd spot of butter. I ate 1 out of the 3 pancakes. Out of 2 meals, what I ate was mediocre at best… soooo bummed. As for the Kanela Breakfast Club… I cancelled my membership ;-@

Phenomenal brunch! The entire staff are all very friendly and accommodating. I had the Spicy Bloody Mary(a grilled cheese sandwich as a garnish!) The Pork Belly Benedict with chopped Brussels and Cranberries. After that I took a walk down to the pier to watch the boats. An excellent morning

Disappointing. I used to live in Old Town so I was a frequent patron of Kanela in Old Town and I loved it. Therefore I had high expectations for this one. I got takeout from there through Grubhub, the whole pickup process was disorganized, they send you to the bar to pick up your order, meaning you are waiting behind other people ordering drinks, coffee etc. Contrast this to Yolk where you walk in and your order is right there by the hostess and you are in and out in 5 minutes. So I end up waiting about 10 – 15 minutes for my takeout order, which is not that big a deal really, but the food is… disappointing. I got the pork belly benedict. The pork belly was ok, the hollandaise sauce was bland, the potatoes that came with them were REALLY bland. I also got a side of French toast which tasted like… nothing. To give you some background, I like most foods and am really not that picky so for me to not like something means it’s probably really bad. They should really bring their chef over from Old Town, I’m not sure what’s going on here.

Food = 3 stars Service = 5 stars For a total of 4 stars. . The spinach over powered the flavor on the egg benedict and my potatoes tasted rubbery. Service was excellent though :)

Discovered today that the Streeterville location doesn’t offer take-out service over the phone — you have to come in and place your order at the coffee bar. I sampled the Monte Cristo sandwich $ 12.00) for lunch — smoked ham, melty swiss cheese, a well fried egg on two thick pieces of French toast. The raspberry jam made for a nice contrast between the salty ham and cheese.
