I can’t vouch for the atmosphere on say, a late Saturday night, but on a Tuesday evening, it seemed pretty chill. The beer selection was the MVP. A few that I recognized, but a whole bunch that I didn’t. I appreciate that, because I like to diversify my beer portfolio. Tried one called the Hopalicious. Tasty without being too hoppy, perfect for when you still have to drag yourself to work at 8am. Ordered the Rush burger, proud to say I finished it, sadly at the expense of most of the fries(which were pretty good too). If this one is any indicator, their portions are huge. I recommend coming hungry! Oh, and there’s a patio. Just don’t ask me about it because it’s February and it’s cold and it’s just not the right time. But if you’re reading this in June, venture back there, relax, and people watch. I’d definitely come back to catch a game. Or two. Or four. There will be a variety of them on all around you!

Had a party there for 40+ people. They gave us the patio(heated) and the rest is history. Great service! Great management! Great food and everyone had an amazing time. Was so thankful we chose Burke’s. Can’t wait to go back.

I live in the area and really enjoy every time I go to JP Burke’s. Whether it is watching football or just trying to swing by a local pub for a quick drink JP Burke’s is a great spot. They always have a beer of the day for a good price and have a very solid food selection. A real hidden gem in the Lakeview area I’ll continue to bring friends to.

There is just one single guy taking orders, bussing tables and tends to the bar, and does it all very well. Amazing. And the food was great, tomato soup with grilled cheese was just thick enough and super tasty. Bloody Mary comes with a generous flight of beer is also great. It also comes with a slice of bacon that goes very well with the Bloody Mary. Fish and chips was very fresh tasting and huge. Can’t wait to try other items on the menu.

The food was hot, fast, and tasty! The bar has a great vibe and is obviously a local favorite. The waitstaff was awesome! And they gave us a 20% discount for theater tix!

First off, the food here is FANTASTIC. Everything I’ve had on my past 3 visits has just been delicious. 2 of my visits was the gigantic chicken sandwich– so good with a side of honey mustard. My last visit, I had the Chicago Beef, which was perfectly seasoned and juicy. Others with me have said the veggie burger is one of the best they had ever had. The atmosphere is that of a dive bar, but they do have plenty of sports and variety of things to watch on their many TV’s. They have a seasonal rotating cocktail menu– which always has something good on it– I had a pumpkin russian last time, very tasty! Check in and try some food, you won’t regret it!

This place is quickly becoming a favorite of ours for lunch or dinner every time we’re at the dive shop(Underwater Safaris) down the block. The food portions are massive(seriously, the breast on the Fried Chicken Sandwich has to come from the Dolly Parton of chickens!)…we have yet to order something that isn’t super tasty(the waffle fries are perfect, if you happen to be partial to those)…the service is quick and friendly enough… they have quite a few TVs if you’re hoping to watch a game… it’s generally never too crowded… they have outdoor seating in the front and back… and the beer list is pretty respectable. What more can you want from a bar? Cheers to that!

Great place! Will be back soon, met the owner Burke, he gets an A in my book. I always enjoy visiting an establishment when the owners is present. Fighting day and night to provide good food and service. The German pretzel is too die for, German beer couldn’t ask for more. When I’m back in chi-town this will be one of the first places I come back to.

Totally disappointed in this place. Our server was nice and the food and drinks were good but the owner was a rude jerk to our party for absolutely no reason. If you want people to not write negative reviews and not return, then keep treating your patrons the way you treated us. Avoid this place like the plague.

Not a 4.5 star experience by far… unsure what Unilocal is smoking. Seems like there are more than a few shill reviews floating around here. Vomit was the first thing to hit the nostrils when we walked in. Hard to say where it was coming from, but it was unpleasant. Staff seemed harried and not willing say much or make eye contact, despite the place being half full. Not really the most comfortable or welcoming atmosphere. Pretty good tap selection, enjoyed a Local Option Outlawger. The printed bottle menu on the other hand, was oddly organized and hard to read. Couldn’t really make heads or tails of things. Can’t say it’s a great bar, and probably won’t be back. Definitely a «by the numbers» place that doesn’t offer much of anything unique.

Great place with very friendly staff. I was amazed by the amount of food that each dish has. We ordered an appetizer, spinach and artichoke dip, and it was huge probably 4 people appetizer. The dip was really good and didn’t start to clump like others. The homemade Mac and cheese was also great and plentifully. Their wings were hot and freshly made and I believe they make their own ranch. The beer selection is small but really good. Definitely recommend this place. I think I found my new hangout place for Friday afternoons.

Within 5 minutes of being here I knew this was my neighborhood bar! JP knows everyone by name and he selects really good, unique, and rare draft beers. The place is small, but has a really nice intimate, neighborhood-y feel to it. Beautiful, big patio in the back that is hidden away from the street giving it this«private» feel. Just the right amount of TVs that make it great to go for games without feeling like your in the middle of just another sports bar. Juke box is really fun and if you go late at night, get ready to sing with the regulars who make sure you participate in the shenanigans! Overall, great atmosphere, great beer selection, and mostly, exceptional service that will remember you and your drink after one visit. With all the bar options in this area, JP really did it right with this one!

Good food and a great selection of craft beers. I’m so sad this place wasn’t open when I lived nearby. Met the owner– he’s cool.

Manager just took his frustration out on me after walking in the door and told me the **ing door is that way. Do not take groups there and do not take groups. ***in response to Jim, you are right SOME of my friends were FORCED to stay bc this is the stanley cup playoffs and there is literally no where else to go at the time, def were not having a great time as you implied. You were already our 3rd choice and they tried to leave but did not have another option as the game already started. Just as a note I was not the one who moved the table, your waitress did and i got yelled at. I was not the one who was asked to move my chair twice, I was asked once in a rude manner to move it 3 inches and I offered you the option to move the chair where you feel comfortable and that is when you cursed at me. Don’t take your frustrations out on any customer who literally did nothing. 1 star stands, as you feeling the need to curse me out, I would never treat any guest in my living room or establishment with the same treatment you showed. Your neighboring bars owners called you crotchety and grumpy so this is obviously a recurring problem.

JP Burke’s is such a gem! By far the best neighborhood bar that I’ve come by in I don’t know how long! They also have a charming patio space with lots of character, which was perfect for my fiancé’s surprise 30th bday party! The owner Jim is such a nice guy and was so helpful and accommodating. Our server was excellent and really sweet too! Not only does JP Burke’s have a warm, cozy, but still current vibe, they also have quality food and a delicious beer selection! I also really like the look of the bar from the outside, the name is on a really pretty wooden sign, very classic looking. Thank you JP Burke’s for your top notch customer service and for making the night such a great one!

Wings were perfectly done… just crispy enough, but not overdone. The buffalo sauce was typical fare, jerk was bringing me to tears, but delicious. The homemade pickles had a nice kick, and were great. The pretzel was bigger than my head… Best part was the service. Unfortunately, they were out of shrimp, but the owner made it a point to come over to apologize and chat with us. After a few minutes, he explained that they would knock a couple bucks off the tab for our inconvenience. He also came over to see if we wanted a specific game put on a TV. Very accommodating staff and conscientious of their customers experience. I can’t wait to go back.

Um. We walked in 11⁄16 around 8pm. We Were able to find a table right away. We ordered the Quezadilla(that’s the way they spell it) Which was actually really really good. Definitely recommend it. I ordered the chicken wings extra crispy really loved that too. Thai and buffalo. My gf ordered the pulled pork sandwich. She really did not like it, she actually didn’t touch it. When the server asked us we told her she didn’t like it. And the sandwich just stood on the table and on the bill. That was disappointing. Seeing that we clearly were drinking and not trying to make a fuss, I think the server should have taken initiative to talk to the manager about us not touching the sandwich at all. This was almost 5 stars.

I had a nice time at JP Burke’s patio & tap. I was out on the beer garden patio. They had on the sox game. I was literally the only person out there. 2 people were inside at the bar. A very quiet tuesday night. I got a cheese soup and italian beef sandwich with fries. Everything was good. It would be fun to hang out with peeps out on the patio enjoying the nice summer weather. they have daily specials. $ 3 chicago craft beers on Tuesday. $ 3 well drinks.
