Friday night grown and sexy. I love this bar it’s intimate, the bar tender is great, the music and atmosphere is definitely great for date night.

This place is more like Pire de Vin. There’s only been a few bars and bar keep wich have really disappointed me and this combination was the worst I’ve ever experienced. This was our first time and last. My husband and I met some friends there on Tuesday night. We thought about having some wine, we tried a couple and tasted as if there had been open for a while. After asking the bartender how old they had been open he reply…“oh, not long! two or three days…“ And yes this is a wine bar. One of my friends ordered a cosmo. Bartender took over 10 minutes to make it and we were the only ones there. It looked like he was actually looking at a recipe to make it. Really??? I really wanted this place to work out but I’m sorry to say I’ll never be back there again. Oh! and I don’t think hard core Punk Rock is appropriate music to play at a wine bar.

Cute neighborhood bar. Not huge — maybe 10 – 12 seats at the bar, and another 10 – 12 at the counter behind. They were understaffed when we went, but drinks for $ 6 … yes please. They have a solid sangria for $ 6 — and it’s a huge glass. My friend loved that. I got a hard cider, also for $ 6, and it was solid(but filling, so I couldn’t drink it all). It was a little warm, but I think in a few months, people will flock here for that reason.

Really good cocktails in a low-key atmosphere with great music. Mia, the mixologist behind the bar, is engaging and personable and very adept at her craft. Last time I was there they had twinkle lights(Mia said that was over 2 years ago so clearly I don’t get out much) — The twinkle lights weren’t there tonight but they should bring them back because the world needs more twinkle lights.

I had a great time here and thoroughly enjoyed my Moscow mule… One of the best. The bartenders were very friendly and offered us a free shot. It was an off night and not overly crowded but we still had fun anyway!

Wonderful music, killer drinks, good atmosphere and one of the best actual alcohol varieties out there. This place simply doesn’t have a well or house drink. Quality. Quality throughout. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and I’ll definitely be going back. One of my new favorite places. Hidden gem. Been there for years I guess!

It’s really a shame that I had such high expectations after reading so many great reviews for this place. My partner and I stopped in on a Friday evening for a nightcap and left disgusted by the awful service. At first, we arrived around 10:30 and thought the place was closed, but saw that there were a few patrons inside. Walked in, perused our options then proceeded to wait several minutes for the bartender to take her sweet time taking orders and making drinks for a group of 4 people. She never acknowledged us. I saw the two owners sitting down at the bar with about 6 – 8 bottles of wine which they were testing. I reached next to one of the owners to look at a cocktail menu when she looked at me and grabbed her personal belongings as if she were afraid that I was going to steal them. First of all, why the hell are you using up real estate at your bar where I, the patron, could be siting? Second, why didn’t you make us feel welcome by greeting us? I’m not looking to make your place my Cheers hangout, but for crying out loud, have the decency to train your staff and acknowledge your patrons. Finally, the group of four realized we were trying to order and they moved. Even the bartender looked at us and continued to walk away. We had to flag her down for an order. There were a total of 7 of us inside and 6 people outside. I was fuming and we both decided to stay for just 1 drink. I can’t imagine how hard it is to get a drink at this place when they’re busy?! We sat outside for our drinks which was nice. The décor was modern, music was fantastic, and their drink selection was excellent. They managed to get 2 stars out of me. 1 for décor and 1 for music selection. Ladies, next time make sure to welcome all that come through the door and hire more personable staff. I don’t think I’ll be recommending this place to my friends.

Amazing bartender. Leah asked me two questions about my drink preferences and made the best cocktail I’ve had. Awesome. Can’t wait to come back!

Joie De Vine — what a local neighborhood gem… and I didn’t know about it until 72 hours ago! Joie De Vine is next to Pauline’s Restauraunt in Andersonville — tucked away right off of Ravenswood. Their sign isn’t very big — so it’s easy to miss — but it’s one of those places you don’t want to miss. It’s a cozy atmosphere, with a nice sidewalk patio — great cocktails and friendly bartenders. The prices are really affordable — and it was a perfect spot for post family 30th party. Highly reccomended local spot!

This is exactly what I want out of a bar. A good selection of interesting cocktail ingredients, a creative bartender who enjoys making custom cocktails based on complex customer ideas, not too crowded, good atmosphere, and great prices. I got some very creative & delicious drinks, great conversation, and a wonderful time overall.

I’ve been here a few times, and really enjoy this place. It’s a little out of the way off of Clark, so it hasn’t been busy in my experience. Great décor, and the French jazz playing is really pleasant; not too loud, so you can actually have a conversation. The cocktails are absolutely delicious.

Went here on a whim tonight on my own after the Pride Parade. the atmosphere was so different from the main strip of bars. It was quiet, welcoming and homey, I am visiting from out of town and was looking for someplace more low key. The service was AMAZING! Cat the bartender was attentive and personable. I went alone so it was awesome that the group of ladies was willing to include me in their conversations and were exceptionally friendly. I would recommend everyone take a trip to this off the beaten path little bar! :)

Woo Woo is spot on! Friday Fun Day with my sista’s from a different mista! Ya, we’re that close. After a day of shopping, walking, walking and walking, we hit Joie De Vine for a cocktail. I am usually a champagne /wine person but decided after Tasting my friends cocktails to try something new. Seriously one of the best drinks I’ve ever enjoyed. Enjoyed doesn’t really express how amazing it was. We loved the ambience, the bartender and the casual, comfortable feel. This is going to be a destination place, often. A treck from Oak Park but totally worth it!

Great little bar/lounge off the beaten path. I read somewhere that although Joie De Vine is known as a wine bar(duh, it’s in the name), that it’s also a wonderful place for cocktails. I decided to put it to the test this past Saturday evening. There was a small, seasonal cocktail list, but then it was explained to me that drinks are based on whatever your preference is, so the sky’s the limit. Just tell the bartender what flavors and spirits you like, and they’ll come up a drink tailor made just for you. I ordered a cucumber collins and it was fantastic and perfectly balanced. That’s my kinda place! The atmosphere is chic, but cozy. I loved the music and the staff was so congenial. Supposedly this is a lesbian bar, but we heteros didn’t feel at all out of place. The crowd was a good mix of groups and people on dates. Cocktails run about $ 10, which I find to be fair, based on the quality of ingredients. JdV is on par with the likes of Scofflaw or The Whistler, or any bar devoted to craft cocktails. Joie De Vine is sleek, stylish, sexy, and stimulating. I am so coming back here.

Read that it was a lesbian bar but my heterosexual friends were having their bash there, so what the heck! We made the trek about 3 – 4 blocks off of clark and in the darkness of the neighborhood, just when we said, ‘there can’t be a bar this far down…’ there it was! Super cute inside, pretty dead until about 10. Didn’t experience the«no menu they make what you say you like» because there is a menu… and a giant chalk board of drink specials. I had some $ 3 sangria, which was good, but in a very skinny tall glass, so it was gone fast. Cool that they let our friends bring in catered food, but I think the guests that weren’t part of the bash were confused about the food table in the back. It wasn’t a private party and if I was a regular guest I would think, ‘geese, this bar was rad for having goodies out!‘ Probably wouldn’t return, but if that is your hood, go for it.

Andrea no longer works here. Sigh! She was my favorite. I do, however, have a new favorite. If you go, make sure to go on a night when Leah is working. She is AWESOME! I LOVE the tequila watermelon shots! What I love about Leah is that she is a mixologist; you tell her what you like as far as base alcohol, and flavors you like, and she will go make you a custom drink that is to die for! This place has outdoor and indoor seating. It is laid back and chill. The service, Leah at least, is awesome! This place has quickly become one of my favorite places to go and to bring visitors.

I cannot believe I have not reviewed this Andersonville gem! This is the place for amazing custom cocktails and unique spirits. The bartenders specialize in finding out what you like and giving you the drink you’re looking for. I have had Tannis make me some unforgettable tangy creations. Not too sweet or bitter, exactly right! What a perfect place in the neighborhood. Weekday nights are my favorite because it tends to be fairly chill and I can chat with whatever friendly bartender is working. Oh, I almost forgot the small plates… elotes popcorn or a mini melting pot of delicious, they have just the snack you are looking for. Last tip, if watermelon is in season ask them for a shot, they’ll know what to give you!

Usually when you call someplace a hidden neighborhood gem, you’re full of it. Well Joie De Vine epitomizes hidden neighborhood gem and I’m not full of it. Cocktails easily on par with some of the best I’ve had in the city. One I had last night(bourbon, coffe liqueur, cardamom, barbecue spices) easily beat out my old favorite at The Whistler. There’s no cocktail list here, you just tell the bartender what kind of flavors/spirits you like and then she disappears and comes back with liquid amazing. Also an astounding beer list for such an out-of-the-way joint. New favorite. PROTIP: You can feel free to walk your dog by this bar. Lots of people do. In fact, there’s a little bowl of water out front for your dog. There’s also ample bike-locking-up right outside the door.

I have lived in Ravenswood and Andersonville for 5 years, and last night was my first trip to Joie De Vine. I regret not finding it sooner, but am elated I found a neighborhood gem! Andrea, the bartender, was fantastic! She explained that although they started as a wine bar, they focus more on spirits and craft beer now. She has traveled to Midwestern breweries and handpicked a great selection of 60 craft brews. She also explained that she handpicked some great, small batch and local spirits(including Koval, the distillery just down the street). She said: tell me what kind of liquor I wanted and she’ll craft a drink. I asked for gin and she made two great options, one was sour(with something«quila», but was grain, not agave, based) with a little lavender infusion and the other was sweeter with an orange rind. So good! And the drinks are $ 10, much more reasonable than the $ 12-$ 14 drinks I’ve had lately. I loved the ambiance, the passion they obviously have for quality, local offerings and the fact that it’s stumbling distance to my house. This may be dangerous, but I found my new fave spot!
