Jimmy John’s

Just got a soggy sandwich delivered to me after an hour. The bread is soaked. The delivery person did not apologize or acknowledge that it took them an hour for delivery.

I have to say. I just had a terrible experience with this location. I tried to do something nice for my wife by ordering her lunch; I paid online and gave her full contact info — I even contacted them 5 minutes after placing the order online saying «please go inside the building and deliver it rather than calling her to come out» — the delivery guy literally walked inside, set the sandwich down at the front desk WHEN NOBODY WAS THERE and walked out. Half hour later I find out my wife received nothing… I called Jimmy johns and after 5 minutes on the phone, the delivery guy gets on the phone and says sorry I left it with the front desk. After communiating w/​everyone, we found the sandwich just sitting at the front desk — of course the front desk person would have no idea what to do w/​a random sandwich just sitting there. Ridiculous…

I’ve ordered from this location before and I am so disappointed at what I got, I don’t even want the store credit they offered me. 45 minutes I waited for my Beach Club with hot peppers, onion, oregano, extra cheese. This is the slop I received with the excuse of «Oh, I’m really sorry, but it’s a bit busy here.» Hello! This is your business!

Staff here was nice enough, but were more busy talking to each other. Other JJ’s I’ve been to, they’re very warm and welcoming, right as you talk through the door. The bathroom was pretty disgusting, no soap in the soap dispenser, which is really disgusting and annoying considering it’s a restaurant. Employees had cups of their drinks all over the counter next to the soda fountain machine. I know this is a smaller unit, but they could at least designate a table to put their cups on versus leaving on the counter right next to where customers receive their food and get their drinks. One of the employees even coughed, not covering his mouth, while filling up his water bottle. There were a lot of workers, so I am sure they’re probably pretty fast when it comes to deliveries, but they could definitely use a little management when it comes to appearance and filling up soap and toilet paper (both rolls were near empty). Two stars because jimmy johns sandwiches don’t disappoint, even if the store itself does.

I was a staying in Chicago for a couple of nights and needed something quick and cheap my first night — check and check. Was it great? No. Ok? Yeah… though the bread was kind of stale and my sandwich was crushed by water bottles, but I got what I ordered so I guess that’s a plus. The delivery person was obviously in a hurry so I got a fake smile and a «here you go» before she turned and walked away. All in all, it was ok, but I’m glad it’s not my «regular“JJ’s…I probably wouldn’t order again.

Never visited this JJ’s, but did some online/​delivery orders, so I can at least comment on that…
Delivery — fairly quick; upon ordering via JJ’s website, I get my orders in 30 minutes or less, and usually less than 20 minutes. A different delivery person every time, but always got my order well and nicely packaged. Good job here, and don’t forget to tip either via your order or cash on hand.
Food — JJ’s food is like McDonald’s in one aspect — consistency. Chips, cookies, and pickles are always good and the same, and the sandwiches are all good like as they’ve been; delicious, got expected meats and veggies, and breads/​rolls the same and fairly fresh too.
Ordering system — The web site ordering system is almost always good to go, sends the email notification to confirm the order. On the store front, these guys need to watch out on their product fulfillment and packaging — one example is I ordered 3 sandwiches and got two; supposed to get 2 BLTs and 1 Gargantuan, but got 2 Gargantuans. Luckily my crew was flexible and we ate it all, but these guys need to be a bit more careful. If it happens again, we’ll complain, of course.
All in all, this JJ’s does good business and has a good ops, just needs some quality checks and then it’ll be great. Will come again, or rather, order again.

Don’t bother ordering extra avocado. I’ve added avocado multiple times and this is the only place that skimps on the stuff. So I finally ordered extra — still bare minimum! Very disappointing Jimmy Johns location.

This JJ was the fastest JJ I have ever been in. Went there for some subs, and my girlfriend went to order and I just went for the seats. Less than 45sec… both subs were ready and it was really frash too. The bread were trashed baked from the oven. This location is no joke man, always love the city locations since they work way faster!

This is the location that delivers to my work as they have a very strict delivery map. I would look up your address if you work work or live around Michigan ave because there are several of them in a very small radius.
They really do deliver freaky fast. Usually I can call and my food arrives within a 10 minute window!

I love the Vito sandwich plus they always make it super fast I don’t like the vinaigrette sauce it’s like they changed the recipe it’s not as good as it used to taste if that didn’t change I would give 4 stars but they good service and food is good

I don’t know what happened here… I used to come here quite often a few years back when I worked across the street. The staff was friendly and fast; the food was good and always on par. My current job is now a few blocks away, not too far to travel to but there are many other options near me so I don’t come here as often.
ANYWAY. I’ve been here twice in the last two months or so, and the quality has gone down in my opinion. Most of the staff is rude, unhelpful, and inattentive. The cleanliness of the place seems questionable. However, the food remains the same so hence my extra star.
Today was my second trip here and it’ll be awhile before I return. After ringing my order, every employee promptly turned their back to me so they could talk and joke around. I wasn’t given my drink cup so I stood around like an awkward moron until i could yell loud enough to get someone’s attention. After sitting down, everyone was laughing, yelling, and generally being noisy while quiet patrons tried to eat. It wasn’t busy and maybe now i can see why; the employees themselves are distracting! The food isn’t worth that kind of hassle.
You know… I get it. I worked retail 10 years and dealt with all sorts of nonsense when all I wanted was a few minutes to chat with my co-​workers. But I also knew when to be respectful of the customers around me and to make sure I gave the best service possible, no matter how badly I might have wanted to punch someone in the face. That kind of service is lacking here. And when you’re in food prep, cleaning and maintaining a restaurant is key; and it also prevents you from getting shut down. Step it up, Jimmy Johns! You used to be so great!

Nasty! I walked into this place and the only thing that wasn’t on the floor was the skank behind the counter on her phone. Oh! There was another guy back there texting, but he couldn’t be bothered with customers. I ordered and before I could move a step to pay, my sandwich was handed to me. One guy told the sandwich maker that it wasn’t mine. Umm, there is no one else in line or at a table without food. So he put it down and gave it to me again with my other sandwich. That is when I saw the food that could feed a small country on the floor. Hell, I didn’t know Hurricane Sandy reached this far West! I am in no way a prude, and I go to some real shit holes for good food! This was in fact a SH, complete with a full ensemble of helmet wearing tards! You know, the window lickers on the short bus! I was not sure if eating that sandwich was a wise idea. Who knows how long it was sitting behind the counter before it was thrown at me. Lucky for me my tuna sub was all lettuce. No actual fish were killed in the making of this sandwich, so there was nothing to spoil. Glad I spent 15 bucks without chips for this one of kind experience. Freaky Fast. No! Just Freaky!

What can I say about Jimmy John’s? The sandwich hits the spot. They really are so fast you’ll freak. And this is a good location for a quick lunch before shopping on the Mag Mile!

I do NOT understand the Jimmy John’s hype! Bland, overpriced, limited version of Subway. Atmosphere? Absolute crap. The only good thing about this place is their $ 0.50 old bread.
I really wish this place would be replaced with something more appetizing. Panera Bread? Corner Bakery? Chipotle? Anything really.

I’m a huge fan of Jimmy Johns for two reasons:
1. Subs so fast it’s freaky
2. The subs are really yummy and always consistent
This location still can accomplish #2, but #1 has been a let down. I ordered one sandwich today (our office is 4 blocks away) and it took an hour and 15 minutes to get here. If they would have just let me know it was that long for delivery, I would have been happy to walk over and get it myself.

Consistent. Good. Delish.
Can’t go wrong ever with a Beach Club on French. Purely bliss.

Fast service, decent sandwiches, somewhat unique bread.
I got their Italian sandwich, which was just fine — nothing to gloat about, but certainly better than Subway.
At the end of the day, Potbelly wins.

Very public location — right by the Chicago red line.
Super fast, with super fresh ingredients. I can be at the back of the line, extending to bum fuck nowhere, and I know I’ll be ordering my sub in a matter of minutes.
Speedy service and delicious sammiches. Sometimes it’s the simple things in life.

This location is exceptionally fast, and friendly and they enable me to continue my illicit love affair with french bread, deli meats and cheeses.

I had a lunch experience here today that will put a smile on my face for the rest of the day.
First of all, Jimmy Johns is better by a long shot, than many of the quick sandwich places for lunch. Their bread is way taster and chewier than Subway. I feel dirty ordering an «8 inch Vito», but it’s a really great kind of dirty. Love the salami they use, and the vegetables taste very fresh. They have two non-​carbonated drink options, which I always like. Store itself is neat and clean.
The counter employees are slovenly and disinterested, but the sandwich builder guys are quick to make your sandwich — with a smile! And they are neat and clean as well. Sandwich is neatly wrapped.
While tossing my sandwich in a bag, I happened to be singing along to the Psychedelic Furs’ «Heaven» (one of my favorite songs, takes me back to my dissolute life shortly after college), playing in the store. A cute 20something bike messenger, also singing to it, gave me a big smile. Then, on the way out, he gave my butt a little slap and said «Damn. You have one gorgeous ass in those jeans.» WHOA! This cougar started to purr — I must have some sort of vibe today! Bike messengers rule! Unless they’re being assholes, but apparently this was not the day for that.
Made it really hard to go back to the building where I work, and follow all the slow-​moving cows onto the elevator, as they lumbered back to work. The service at JJ’s is so quick I was there and back to work in 15 minutes.
Now. .. they need to get Salt n’ Vinegar potato chips — or maybe they were out — but the Jalapeño chips were tasty-​hot-​crunchy.
I fully realize your experience may vary, but I can tell you right now — I’m recommending Jimmy John’s for lunch for ALL my girlfriends!
and PS, I’m NEVER taking these jeans off. ..
