I used to come here often. But not anymore, owner reprimanded me for giving a dollar to a homeless man that I can tell really needed help. Made me feel like crap, i don’t care to give my business to anyone that doesn’t care for the neighborhood.

One star for service. I ordered chicken — you know the item that is in the name — along with other items. Guy says the chicken will take 20 min, I say okay. 20 min later I get the food. Walk to my car and see there’s no chicken. So I go back inside the guy says «yeah, I didn’t charge you for it because I didn’t put the order in» with a look his face of complete confusion to my anger. Made no sense. I had to wait 20 min for the other items, so why didn’t you put my order in for the chicken?. So then I had to go to the Popeyes next door and wait another 10 min. I may have to go the extra 20 min next time.

We have been ordering from this J&J for years now especially for parties, they have the best chicken wing trays in chicago for the best price! Today for the first time I went into another j&j just to find the chicken was terrible! ! The oil was so old and nasty tasting & smelling like dirty smelly nasty old fish from the sewers. We love fish, just not smelly fish.
I shouldn’t have never cheated on you J&Js your the best. unfortunately not all J&J are the same they didnt even put lemon seasoning on the chicken.

i only went to JJ fish because Hooks on Ogden was misusing their fryer and burned the place down. i miss Hooks, but JJ’s has pretty great fries. Also, my «students» like going there for a «nice meal» when i offer to treat them. that’s sweet of them isn’t it?

This is so not good. The fries are batter covered and then after frying are sprinkled with a salt/​pepper/​sugar mix and the oil leaves a funny after-​taste. The fish was greasy and also sprinkled with a funky sugary/​seasoning mixture. The fish was also tasteless. Not good at all. I would rather go to Wallace’s on Madison & California. The environment is far more sketchy, but the food is incredible… and not much more money. But, yes, Kumal was very charming.

Fish: Thin crispy batter, not awesome, just palatable.
Chicken: OMG awesome! Fall off the bone chicken wings, yeah!
Service: I hope you have some time on your hands.

This one is for Kumal, he is great. He is the owner and I went over there after visiting Dr. Davis at Americas Best. The chicken is great, but be prepared to be full. Maybe even a bit extra full.
