Definitely one of the best Polish delis in town. Prepared foods and cured meats are their specialties, along with plenty of specialty imported goods. Fresh breads and pastries as well. Sausage selection is very extensive, and free samples are usually available. Excellent bigos and flaczki, and a good selection of prepared salads, frozen pierogi, etc. The only place I can find podpiwek in the city. The staff are friendly and helpful all around, they speak Polish and English fluently and appreciate if you try speaking limited Polish phrases(they didn’t laugh at least). There’s a parking lot in the back, but there’s usually street parking out front. The intersection can be a little hairy, so be careful if you’re a pedestrian. Nice 1 – 2 stop with Sandy’s down the street.

One of the nicest«neighborhood» Eastern European delis in Chicago. While it may not have the square footage of some of the larger places in town, it has a wide selection of prepared hot. food and house made salads. I have personally sampled hot entrée items ranging from potato pancakes to roast chicken & pork stew. Everything has been exceptionally tasty and fairly priced. J & J European Deli’s homemade sausages are some of the best I have ever tasted. There is also a nice selection of baked goods as well as homemade frozen dumplings and pierogi. All the staff speaks English, and the store is spotless. I really enjoy perusing the grocery items for all kinds of things I didn’t know I needed to buy.
