Illinois Bar & Grill On 47th

Went here on a recommendation of our hotel. Place is known for their burgers and did not disappoint! Great Chicago Burger very reasonable prices for burgers and beer. My 16 year old was equally impressed by the burger. Would definitely recommend to others.

Nasty old patty for my baby burger. Yuck I can still remember the nasty taste. You can tell when meat has been in the fridge for too long yucky. Smh everything should be fresh.

This place is good for a burger and a beer. The chicken tenders are also pretty good. If you’re looking for an average place to watch a game and have some food and drinks then give this place a try.

Root Beer I ordered was flat. Asked for a plain burger, teenage kid working the kitchen put ketchup and mustard on it. Very disappointed as I was starving by the time it finally came out the kitchen. I asked for cheese and onions only on the burger. He only put a tiny dollop of grilled onions on a corner of the sandwich. I like onions a lot, so I was pretty disappointed. Zucchini sticks were so greasy I could not eat. Burger was decent though overcooked. I think the kid just did not know how to cook. I hope management can bring this up.

As usual my coworkers and I were hungry and looking for food. A coworker mentioned stopping by this place and really enjoying their burgers, so we figured why not try it out.
Walking in, we were told we could sit whereever and the server would be with us. The bar was pretty empty (as expected), so we took our time and laughed as episodes of Maury played in the background. Looking over the menu, everything was straight to the point! Most of us ended up getting the signature 13 ounce burger and a few ordered the ¹⁄₃. We decided to also split two baskets of fries!
After about 15 – 20 minutes, the food came out and looked absolutely delicious! The burger, fries and green river were the perfect combination!

Service speed is hit or miss but always polite. Crowd is pretty diverse and there are plenty of TVs playing various sports. Nothing special but hits the spot for this part of town.

Get it to go. Burgers and fries are really good. Service, not so much. It could also be a little cleaner.

Honestly the Best Burgers of all time! Now I know that is a pretty bold statement but they are Awesome. This place has been around since I was a kid. I remember the burgers being huge! Now I don’t know if they have shrank or if I just got older but either way they are still Amazing! I usually get the baby burger with grilled onions, bacon and cheese. Have I mentioned how amazing these burgers are?!? LOL The fries are pretty great as well, hand cut nice and crispy. You can’t go wrong with IBG it’s a typical bar atmosphere, the bartenders are great and very friendly. You gotta try this place!

The service sucks. Good food and drinks, but you waste at least 15 – 20 minutes of your life before you even see a waitress. Once you finally get your food you’re good. But the service sucks. It’s better if you get up and leave your food to walk up to the bar to get a drink, refill, or if you’re smart you just get a bucket.

Great low key little neighborhood place with decent prices on food & beer. I like coming here 2 grab a quick beer & burger the staff is so friendly & accommodating! Love coming to this place have yet to taste a better burger.

Great food and cheap prices! I love the music they play as well. The only complaint I have is that the restaurant seems very understaffed and dirty. No bus boys in sight and customers have to clear their own table before sitting down… As much as I like the food and atmosphere I am a waitress myself and I don’t appreciate having to bus my own table and sit with a bunch of garbage on the floor.

There are a few things I just can’t say no to, pizza, an old fashion, a burger and fries, hookers and blow, you know, the «essentials» in life. So when I was in the area for work and was told Illinois Bar & Grill has the *best* burgers I had to check it out.
Illinois Bar & Grill is what you might call a dive bar. It’s definitely got some history and charm. We ordered a few sides and appetizers that were all good, your typical bar food; fried and tasty. You can get either a «small» burger here, which is still more than enough food, or you can get a 13 oz burger. I don’t think I could eat a 13 oz burger over the course of 24 hours. So I didn’t try to do it at lunch with clients. The small burger I did get was good. Best in the country? I don’t think so. But still good.
If I were in the area again (which I most likely will be sooner or later) and I needed to be fed I might end up at Illinois Bar & Grill again. I won’t be going out of my way though. Want to eat a burger the size of your head? This is the place for you.

Still the best burger on the south side. Still very neighborhoody, great food cold beer, and casual environment.

It’s a pretty chill spot with amazing burgers. Try the bacon burger with fries. You will not be disappointed with the flavor or size. I give it 4 stars only because once in a while I do take out and every time I’ve gotten my fries they are too crispy and I have to throw about half away. What I started doing now is mentioning it and checking the order at the time of pick up. If you’re looking for a night out with friends this is the place.

My gf and I came with family Wednesday afternoon to hang out and have some appetizers. Illinois bar and grill has been a burger institution for many years here in the archer heights neighborhood. So that being said if you want to try a BIG delicious 13 oz. burger that u might have trouble finishing in one sitting, this is the place you need to come to. Just ask for the famous Chicago burger.
FYI burgers and sandwiches here do not come with fries so that will be extra. Also if you want to add american, cheddar, or swiss cheese to your burger it will be an extra .75 cents, and $ 2.00 if you want bacon on them.
My gf and I shared the chicken strips, which were big but ok to me but she liked them. They do come with fries, bbq sauce and honey mustard sauce.
This place does get crowded on game days and on weekend nights as they close late. I do recommend trying one of these BIG delicious burgers for yourself. I ended up buying 2 to go that night for family members to enjoy.
They are open M-​F 10 – 2 a.m./ Sat. 10 – 3 a.m./ Sun. 10 – 12 a.m.

Was craving burgers and this was nearby so I gave it a try. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, the wait staff was accommodating, and the burgers were amazing! The onion rings were probably the most crispy that I have ever had. The only thing was that their menu options were pretty small, but since they are known for burgers, that is understandable. So, if you are craving awesome burgers, give them a try!

I have been there a few times and in my most recent, I was there with a friend and coincidentally the Black Hawks were playing that day.
Burger, chicken wings, fries and a couple of beers. Chicken wings are huge and I’ve never been a huge fan of them but they were highly recommeded by a friend. They were actually pretty good. they fries are really good and the burgers even better. I need to go here more often.
The vibe was super relaxed and that is exacly what I needed that day. The service is ok comaprable to bars of the kind.

I’ll bump my rating up since I’ve been back 2 more times.
The second time I came back with a friend. She ordered a regular burger and I opted for the bacon burger. We also ordered cheese fries. I think the bacon burger is the way to go. She seems to like the cheese fries, I still think they are ok. This time the burgers were bigger and greasier. Service was friendlier also.
Just went today again and we split a regular burger and got the cheese fries. I also ordered the zucchini sticks. Burger was good and not as greasy. Zucchini sticks were ok, but use the ranch sauce as the red sauce is some type of Pace Salsa. Service was really good too.
Get the bacon burger. The saying is true… bacon makes everything taste better. Since you eating here, I doubt you are counting calories, so why not just indulge and make it worth while.
I guess the first time was a fluke as I noticed the last two times, it was a different cook and server than the first time. I have to say, pace yourself, it’s a heart attack meal here.
