Just came back from another great dinner here. Our Waitress, though not Chinese, recommended the braised chicken. What a treat, after being hooked on the Szechuan chicken for years. Definitely not my last time here.

I will start with the pros: fast and friendly cons: food was mostly inedible got combo fried rice and mongolian chicken the rice seemed old the shrimp in it were dry. Mongolian chicken was overly salty and some of the chicken was rubbery tossed most of the food. Oh eggroll was ok weird peanut butter taste tho. Will never order again.

Service was a little bit slow but the place was packed(Christmas Eve) so that’s to be expected. The food was AWESOME! HUGE portions that were hot and fresh. The egg rolls were really good(and definitely bigger than the usual). Try it with the mustard provided at every table. NOTE: prepare to have your sinuses clearer than you’ve ever had in your life and the feeling of having the back of your head blown off(in a good way). We ordered two egg rolls, Orange Chicken(crispy even after a short stint in my fridge), Chicken & Broccoli(fresh ingredients all the way!) and Chicken Fried Rice(sooooo good and not overly greasy) and it only came out to $ 40 and some change! Oh, and you get complementary tea, fortune cookies AND almond cookies. Go there. Now.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant closed, so we ordered take out based on the overall favorable reviews. It was OK, but not good enough for us to come back. We ordered orange chicken and beef with broccoli. They don’t offer brown rice as an option. The orange chicken was ample and tasty. The beef was too chewy for our taste.

Really friendly, awesome staff, great Chinese(Americanized, but still, good), and great tropical cocktails that are less than $ 10 each. I recommend the seafood nest. Very old school here, and love it.

It’s been a long road to find good chinese takeout in the area, but I think we’ve finally found it. A bit of background on me: I’ve lived in South Bend, Indiana, Cincinnati, OH; Chicago, and Kasnas City. There was a really dope takeout place in South Bend called«OG». If you’re from anywhere in the county, you know it. I couldn’t find a place to replace it in Cinci, KC, or Chicago. But, House of Wah Sun might do the job. Superlatives aside, the hot braised chicken is hella good and the eggrolls are dope, too. The people were nice, and the place was clean. Some day, I may eat in. Anyway, the place is definitely recommended to those looking for a solid meal in the area.

We were looking for a Sunday lunch with a big group of 16 people. This Restuarant was very good the way they were able to seat us right away, and also made good recommendations of food for a mix of veg and non veg. They were also very good about accommodating vegetarian soup with veg stock. Good food, great service.

Okay, so we went into House of Wah with some expectations. We love western-style Chinese food, and to have it with delicious Mai-Tai’s is corny, but its our thing. We thought we found a gem. The drinks, I SWEAR lacked alcohol, sad, sad, sad. The food was pretty good, if you like mediocre Chinese, which was kind of the idea. Okay, so that was that. So the reason for the two-star was that a couple months ago, on a cold winter day, we had a couple of friends over, got the PJ’s on, the drinks flowing, and having not eaten all day we got the idea to order a virtual buffet worth of Chinese, we thought, HOUSEOFWAH! Well… in order to spare you the chills and sweat that I endured I will just say that I got food poisoning. I was the only one to eat the pork fried rice. And I am stupid, I thought it tasted not great, but certainly not bad or spoiled… ugh…I was legit SOSOSOSICK. We all know what food poisoning is. Most people would give a restaurant they got food poisoning from a 1 or zero star, but I understand things happen. I don’t know. I just won’t eat there again, so be warned, there are plenty of other places.

I love Chinese food. I have been searching for the best Chinese restaurant in Chicago and the House of Wah Sun might be it. However, I have only scratched the surface of possibilities. I have only had this food delivered, so I can’t speak to the quality of the physical space. However, as any red-blooded American would, I use the taste of General Tso’s chicken as a standard. This restaurant has one of the best GTCs I have ever had. It’s sweet-spicy without being overpowering and the chicken is cooked correctly– not too dry– and the chunks aren’t too big. The egg rolls are flaky and crispy on the outside with pretty standard fillings: shredded cabbage and your choice of meat. I’ve also had the crab rangoon, which I deem to be acceptable and pretty standard fare. When you get it delivered they also include almond cookies for free. That’s a nice touch.

So I was pleasantly surprised by this little number. From the outside it looks like any unassuming hole in the wall Chinese restaurant in a random plaza. the inside was pleasant and well decorated. I only got the lunch special and thought the food was tasty and very quick. I thought how my 3 year old niece would like it. The sesame chicken didnt necessarily taste how I think of sesame chjicken should taste(a little too sweet maybe?) but otherwise it was still good. I would come back again.

First, FREEPARKING! Second, tasty and fresh lunch options under $ 10! Third, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. My sister wanted to make her own dish and our server made suggestions to get her closer to what she was looking for and save us money! :) Best Chinese I’ve had in the area so far and I’ll definitely be back!

If bland, mediocre food is what you’re craving, then look no further, folks. Step right up and indulge yourself with some of the most disappointing food you can have. Our family wanted Chinese food, and figured we’d try something new. Not because we weren’t happy with our usual place, but because, well, it’s good to try new places. Big mistake. We ordered chicken fried rice, Mongolian beef, hong sue fish, sweet & sour chicken, and hong sue shrimp. The chicken fried rice had precious little chicken, and was almost as flavorless as the white rice that was included with our order. The sweet and sour chicken was bad all the way around. The chicken was tough, and the sweet & sour sauce tasted like flavored water. It was basically some kind of syrup and sugar with red food coloring. Gross. The hong sue fish and shrimp were both bland and greasy, and the accompanying sauce tasted like paint. Again, gross. The best dish of the bunch, which isn’t much of a compliment, really, was the Mongolian beef. The meat was tender, had a bit of flavor, but was otherwise quite unremarkable. Hell, even the almond cookies tasted like plastic. If you’re in the mood for Chinese food, stay away from this place, and head somewhere else. Your wallet and your taste buds will thank you.

I love this place! The Pot Stickers are wonderful, I always get them steamed, but you will not go wrong with the fried ones either, absolutely delicious. The Kung Pao Chicken is amazing! Don’t forget about the Chicken Noodle Soup, big thick noodles, yum! 5 stars! I order from them all of the time. One happy customer. :)

I shamefully judge American-style Chinese restaurants by their General Tso’s Chicken. I use it as a reference for what their other dishes may be like. In my past, this benchmark has been useful in determining portions, quality of oil, breading, spice level, sauce level, and choice of chicken cuts. Now that I think about it, this might be a kind of fair assessment! So House of Wah Sun fails horribly. Why is important. I’ll start with their ribs. Which are breaded? Then sauced? Gross. The General Tso’s was just OK. The breading is a bit thick, and gummy. It was very mild I actually prefer what they do at Shanghai Inn in this area. There might be something better, so I’m still looking. The ribs were off-putting. I’ve never had breaded ribs? Are you joking?! I’m sorry; this breaded ribs thing gets to me.

Been past this place hundreds of times and always liked the name — so last night had taste of Chinese and the BF and I tried this place out after the good reviews… OMG I have found my Chinese place on the Northside!!! Tropical Drink(Zombie) — funky glass and full of alcohol — very good drink and right price too! Egg Rolls — giant, get one to share, very good and not greasy Pot Stickers — pan friend and stuffed to the max — so good Main Course — beef cooked perfect — chicken still tender and moist Service — super nice Décor — old school but your in a Chinese restaurant, so it’s all good Clean — yes Parking lot — can’t beat that in the city Funny name but so worth the visit — I will be back!!!

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review on House! This is our go to Chinese spot in our area. I judge all Chinese places by their egg rolls and they are oustanding here. I am always torn on whether to order one or two, as they are that good. The food itself is traditional cantoneese and has really good flavor. I’ve tried a fairly wide variety of dishes and they are all rock solid. They will also add heat to any dish if you like to keep things spicy. The prices seem to have gone up recently, but even still you get a lot of food for the money. Long live House!
