Walked by a thousand times. Got the spinach salad. Delicious though a rather simple entrée. Will be back

The whole idea of a take and bake pizza joint is that it is FAST. I ordered a pizza at 7:15pm and the website said it would be ready at 8:00pm. When I got there at 7:55pm they had not even made the pizza yet. What is the point of ordering online? Staff was not very friendly, either. Acted like they did not know what they were doing. This is just pizza, not rocket science. Pizza was decent once we finally got it.

After reading Natalie and Jason’s reviews I was not sure what to expect. But I read Joseph so I had to try it. I’m with Joseph I loved it! I really enjoyed the salad. I enjoyed my deep dish pizza, I thought the crust or dough was excellent! But then again I do not like Lou Malnati’s Pizza at all. So maybe if you are a Lou Malnati’s fan, the crust might not meet your expectations. But definitely give it a try I like the fact that I brought the pizza home and I baked it in my oven. I enjoy the smell of pizza in my house it smelled so good. So baking my own pizza is a good concept for me. I found the ingredients on my pizza as well as my salad to be very fresh and tasty. The customer service was outstanding. I believe it was well worth the money and I definitely will be back! So overall I do highly suggest ordering from this restaurant my opinion its all positive the negative reviews well we’re all entitled to our opinion. Definitely try this restaurant!

Yummy! Not disappointed at all. The dough was superb soft and crispy and the fresh ingredients were outstanding. I just didn’t know you had to go home and bake yourself. That is the only reason i am giving it 4 stars vs 5. I order the new spinach and feta pinwheels with red dipping sauce took 10 mins to bake and my house smelled amazing. I think the price was reasonable and fairly quick service and informative.

After reading the reviews, it’s so funny to me you either love or hate this place! I happen to be one of the love this place kinda crowd. I picked up a pizza on a Sunday night not knowing much about how it worked. I walked in and when asked if I had called ahead(I didn’t) I was told no problem. Give us 5 minutes and we’ll have your pizza and salad ready. And they did. So as far as services goes A+ The choices are excellent with fresh and generous quantities of toppings on a nicely made pie. Yes you do have to cook it but how many times have you ordered a pizza delivered only to have the cheese all over the place because your delivery guy drove like an idiot? Or to have cold pizza? So the whole cooking thing to me isn’t a deal breaker. In fact, it filled up the house with that excellent pizza aroma so yum. As far as price, they had a meal deal for $ 10 a person where you got a medium pizza and a nice salad. I dare you to make a meal for your family using fresh ingredients for less than $ 10 per person. Honestly this salad and pizza could have fed 3 people but we hadn’t eaten all day so dinner for 2 it was. So the place isn’t for everyone but if you like your pizza fresh, with interesting toppings and want to fill your home with the smell of fresh pizza, this is your place.

Terrible service beyond comprehension. When I initially called, my question was how long for pick up. I was told 20 minutes. After i placed the order, I was told 30 minutes, so they must have gotten so busy within the one minute it took me to place the order that it required an additional 10 minutes to place my ingredients on uncooked dough. Fine, no problem… I arrived 5 minutes past the time they allocated(35 minutes later). The employees stared at me uninterested when I walked in… I told them I was there for a pick up and they told me it was not ready yet and they needed 10 more minutes. I waited 5 more minutes and questioned a person who appeared to be «managerial» and she told me that it still wasn’t ready, so I questioned her again about my pizza because we were way past the time that I was told. A third employee took the time to look in the fridge and realized that«hey, your pizza has been sitting in the fridge this entire time!» WOW… how bad does your customer service have to be in order to give that type of run-around for UNCOOKED pizza. I was not even given an apology. As a side note, I really like the quality of product at HomeMade Pizza Company… I have frequented the Wicker Park and South Loop locations, which had very good customer service. This particular location does not.

I love that they used poblano peppers on their veggie pizza! Definately added my own black olives, but will definately come back. Yum yum!

Food is way over priced. The whole fresh thing is just a gimmick, yes it’s fresh but so are a lot of other cheaper places with better tasting pizza. Tis a silly place!

Ordered a large with spinach and olives at 4:30. The order arrived at 6:10. Pizza literally had about 6 slivers of olives on it and a mound of raw spinach in the center. When I baked it, the spinach crumbled up and dried out. It probably should have been under the cheese so it could have steamed. Crust was delish but the whole thing was a disappointment for $ 23 including delivery and tip. Wish I would have ordered it plain and put my own olives on it. Bummer.

Though the prices tend to be on the high side for pizza, HomeMade pizza company is one of my standbys. The question then is what sets it apart and allows it to demand this premium for a pizza that you cook yourself. The answer, very simply, is the high quality and variety of ingredients. There aren’t too many places to get a grilled chicken pizza with pesto sauce, sundried tomatos, portabello mushrooms and pine nuts. If you are just going for a simple cheese pizza, just grab it from someplace else down the street. If you want gourmet, come to HomeMade. Plus, the employees are gregarious and friendly, and they’re conveniently located just up the street from the Southport Brown line stop.

I went here for the first time a few years ago and wasn’t overly impressed. We decided to drop in today — during the Bears/Packers game — to pick up a pizza figuring it wouldn’t be busy. We went with something we wouldn’t normally get — sausage and caramelized onion — and it was absolutely delicious! The only thing I wish is that we would have seen they had wheat crust before placing our order. We only waited five minutes for our custom order. HPC recommends you make your order ahead of time and then just walk in to pick it up, but we had no problems placing our order at the counter and waiting. Again — Bears v. Packers meant the restaurant was deserted. My only complaint is the price is on the high side for pizza you make yourself, so I’m still more likely to go elsewhere for pizza on most occasions. When looking for something a little gourmet though, I’d be all about HPC!

Growing up in Chicago I’ve had my fair share of pizza and while I love it to be gooey and greasy, sometimes I crave something with less fat and more fresh flavor. I decided to try Homemade Pizza Co. and was pleasantly surprised. The pizza is flavorful, filling and delicious. The employees are friendly and I can order the pizza on-line to pick-up after work on my way home. While it is a little pricey, I’ve found coupons for as much as $ 5 off, which let me get a 9in pizza(dinner for 2 nights) for $ 4. Also, as someone who isn’t a huge fan of reheated pizza, I’m glad that I can get a pizza, cut it in half and save it for the next night, when I can heat it up fresh. I was also worried that my stove wouldn’t get hot enough, but the crust is delicious and perfectly cooked on the piece of parchment paper they provide. I

I have ordered 8 times in the past year from Homemade Pizza and it has always been wonderful. We get a small salad(feeds 2) to eat while our delicious pizza is cooking in our oven. We love the Spinach Pie, the Four Cheese, the Caesar Salad. We like to order from Homemade Pizza because: 1) The ingredients are so fresh and flavorful, I would much rather pay for better ingredients than having a pizza cooked for me at the same price. A small salad and medium pizza(with $ 3 off email coupon) is only $ 18.40(feeds 2) or a large salad and large pizza(with coupon) is only $ 24.40. 2) The online ordering system is easy to use and isn’t outdated like other pizza places. I prefer the confidence of ordering online, that your order will always be correct, and it always has been! Bonus: you can save pizzas online that you prefer to order. 3) The store is clean. I repeat, the kitchen, the counter, everything is clean. Lots of stars for clean. 4) The staff is always great. If you ever have to call them, they are always helpful and never seem bothered by your questions. I once sent them an email through their website with some feedback and they responded right away! Sign up for their email deals and you’ll get a coupon about every week or so. Sometimes they do Facebook stuff too. Bottom line, while not the traditional greasy, sauce overflowing Chicago style pizza, it is instead a breath of fresh air. Great ingredients, perfectly customized to your liking. This isn’t the only pizza place we order from, but when you have a craving for a pizza without questionable ingredients and questionable results, then this is the place you go.

I’ve had HomeMade Pizza Co a number of times now, and I think I have a few of their trade secrets figured out: #1. Skimp on the toppings. #2. Charge a fortune. After picking up your barren yet expensive pie, you still have to go home and bake the damn thing yourself. #3. Never be foolish enough to invest in pizza ovens, especially if you happen to own a pizza restaurant. And what’s that you say? Anchovies are always free? What a crowd-pleaser! Thanks for nothing HomeMade Pizza Co. #4. Offer to give away free sh*t that nobody wants anyway. My wife gives high marks to the crust(when following their instructions to the letter), but I can’t bring myself to endorse the uncooked&devoid of toppings-pizza-for-an-exorbitant-price business model. To their credit, at least the employees are friendly. Gets two stars instead of one because hey… it’s still pizza.

We finally had some HMPC last week. The pizza was really good and the salad was excellent. We love that they have specials on the salads on Monday through Wednesday. Especially love that the employees and managers know each customer by name and make recommendations on baking when you show up at the store. We will be having more HMPC in the near future!

I had just moved into my new home in Chicago when I found a menu from this place, conveniently left by the last owner. We were in the middle of painting and it seemed like a good idea to order a pizza in so that we wouldn’t have to stop working. Boy, was I delightfully surprised with this pizza! As for the comments on price(see various reviews below), let me say that I bake a lot. And, I usually make my own pizza(y’know — with yeast and shaved ingredients, etc). And, you cannot make a pizza for the price HomeMade Pizza Company is charging. For the convenience of having a handmade pizza prepared for you, and not having to spend a few hours watching dough rise, etc, the price is very fair. And it tastes great. I don’t say this often, but, it’s better than I could have made myself. Their salads are also excellent. Be warned — in case you haven’t heard by now, this pizza arrives unbaked! Something we didn’t realize, and our gas hadn’t been turned on yet! :(It was a good way to meet the neighbors, though, as we asked them to bake our pizza for us. On the negative side, we did experience some attitude in the delivery process. We placed our order by phone and clearly explained that we had just moved to the city and didn’t really know where our house was compared to their location. She woman taking our order was pleasant and welcomed us to the city. About an hour later, we had reason to call back and our call must have been picked up by a manager or something; he criticized us for having called the wrong location(there was another location closer to our home, apparently), and said that his driver was«going to deliver the pizza anyway.» They had us live on the phone when we placed the order — they could have said something then. They had our phone number — they could have called us and said another location was delivering. They had us on the phone when we called back — he could have at least told us which location was the RIGHT one. But they didn’t do any of those things. But they did deliver delicious pizza. UPDATE: The district manager contacted me about my experience described above. He explained why what happened had happened and I was satisfied with his explanation. I have since ordered from HomeMade Pizza Company a second time and it was equally good, with no hiccups in delivery!

I honestly wish I remembered to come here more. I notoriously don’t enjoy pizza that much, but this stuff is good! Especially their pizzas on whole wheat crust — it makes all the difference. We needed to feed about 6 people, and 2 large pizzas and a large salad did it. Tried the cheese(pretty standard) and then did a half BBQ and half spinach pie. It was a huge hit. I love that you can pretty much customize any pizza any way you want. For the salad, we ordered«The Cabo» which was kind of like a southwest salad. Maybe you are going to complain about it being expensive, but our bill was $ 44, and we fed 6 people(with a little drunk food left over for the next night). That’s about $ 7 a person… not too bad if you ask me.

I’ve always had a wonderful experience with the food here. Pizzas are usually ready in about 20 – 30 minutes and bake in another 15. These are not overly carb-y, but thin crust with quality ingredients. Not cheap, but worth it. I’d suggest pairing with wine instead of beer. While I usually order a custom pizza, their quattro stagioni and sausage & carmelized onion are nice choices. Get a large size and reheat the rest tomorrow. The cookies are decent too!

Meh is right. I have experienced better. I believe it’s called Pizza Hut. Not really. But in all honesty, this place to me is borderline rip off! Homemade Pizza, if I made it, would cost me all of $ 10. Sure, Id have dough flying everywhere, and I would probably have to wait a while for my dough to rise or my yeast to become, well, yeasty. But hey, its Homemade. If I wanted to pay $ 20 for a pizza, I could take myself over to a Giordanos, or the like, and get it cooked and served to me. I dont really get how anyone can think this place is a deal. I went in, and saw the prices and was shocked! But I decided that since i was already there, I might as well go ahead and purchase a pizza. I made my order, and was asked if I wanted the whole wheat crust, and decided I would be a little healthier. Little did I know, nor did the gentleman tell me was that it is EXTRA for the whole wheat. Seriously — to whom ever came up with the company plan, or stole it from Dominicks and Jewel who have been selling unbaked pizza for years, you need to check your prices. Maybe you are using products that are overly priced, but you are charging too much for your product. You dont even cook the pizza for me — or offer that option! $ 10 would be an ideal price — or at least starting point, but because of your ridiculous pricing, I will most likely not be back!

Seriously? Is this what it’s come to. Pizza specifically for yuppies! Great idea… Pay restaurant price for an uncooked pizza with«fresh toppings». Newsflash! The only pizzas without fresh toppings are the ones that are leftovers from last night. Thanks but, No Thanks! I’ll take my pie fully cooked, preferably on a crust that doesn’t taste and look like a giant slice of sandwich bread. I tried this twice, as is my rule before forming a solid opinion. I’m still trying to recover financially.
