They have changed the name of this place to «I love Sushi». Stopped in today for a few rolls and some green tea. Green tea was horrible… maybe I’m used to having mine with a side of sugar and preservatives. The rolls were just ok and I probably wouldn’t go back. The smoked salmon used was way too salty. The staff was pretty nice assuring me that everything was fresh, but maybe I should have taken note of the fact that no one else was in here, hmmm.

I took a chance on getting the tempura udon today, since the price of $ 5.95 was hard to beat. There were two ladies at the register, and after the 1st one rang me up the other one said that the menu listed the price wrong and it was $ 1 more. I was annoyed, but paid anyway since I didn’t have the energy to object. I really ought have. The broth was strange and fishy, and even though they made the tempura fresh it was soggy. I’ll probably go back here for some of the rolls, since it is close to my work and in the pedway, but I hate to see Japanese food butchered so badly.

This place is an opposite guilty pleasure since I know the food is not very good but at the same time I go so I can get my asian food fix and it is fairly cheap. The 3 item combo is a good deal since one of the item can be 6 pieces of CA roll which they make ‘fresh’. They will also fry the tempura and sweet potato fries for the order. That’s nice since otherwise you don’t know how long the food has been sitting around. Ahem, I am embarrassed to say I ordered lobster bisque here once(I am a fool but I love lobster bisque!)…it was so gross! I don’t know how old it was but it was the saltiest, most condensed soup. It was obvious that no one had ordered this before and it has been sitting there forever… so sad… If you must order sushi there, you should order the 12 piece rolls and you can split it between 2 types of rolls you like. They will make it fresh then… don’t pick the already made stuff and don’t go between 12pm-1pm. The wait is crazy…

A couple steps above grocery store sushi. Not exactly gourmet sushi or even great sushi, but for downtown it isn’t bad. They make it fresh in front of you(though they also have a take out case). This is an «express» location no bar – the review(s) mentioning the bar are for the other location. Quality wise the sushi seems to be decent and fresh. They kinda put it together in a sloppy fashion sometimes. If you pick up their to go menu at the register there are some coupons in there… There’s one in there where you get a free miso soup with purchase of $ 8 or something.

Complete crap. I don’t like their restaurant on Clark, so I’m not sure why I went here for a snack. Got an order of sweet potato fries and edamame — $ 6!!! — for two appetizers? The sushi that was being prepared was shoddily done. .. not a place that seems to care about quality. Ugh. And the soggiest fries I’ve ever eaten. The guy behind the counter, was wearing plastic gloves. Okay. But then, he went and hauled around a bunch of cardboard boxes and went right back to touching the food. The place looked dirty and shabby. No thanks. It also smelled weird, and two of the menu items were misspelled(on the TV screen that was playing). No attention to detail.

CLOSED! Have been«closed for remodeling» for months now with no sign of reopening… Inexpensive, fast, staff is friendly, place is clean and there is hardly ever anyone in here! Don’t know how they make it work but it does. I love the spicy tuna rolls… basic but keeps me coming back. And, the couch seating makes for a relaxing mealtime. Plus they have pretty good rotating drink specials… Quick, inexpensive, basic… good for carry-out dinner or lunch option…

I was really scared to try this place for lunch — fast food sushi? — but it was not bad. Here’s a tip, order the 6-piece maki and not the 12-piece, as the 12-piece is pre-made but the 6-piece will be made in front of you. Convenient Pedway location and the sweet potato fries are G-O-O-D GOOD, so I will probably be back.

We had a private party there for my daughter’s b-day, and I am giving this place 4 stars because it saved me from grocery shopping, clean-up, and general stress. The sushi trays were great and plentiful and the dj rocked. I love the«sushi belt» that goes around the sushi bar… but how does that work if you are eating at the bar and not paying attention? Does your sushi go around again like luggage at the airport? I wouldn’t want to risk someone touching it on the other side. «Oppsss, sorry, I guess that wasn’t mine…» The bar is pretty cool, and you can spend all your hard earned quarters on the funky game machine that sits on the counter. The lighting is very interesting… what you would think the interior of an alien space ship looks like. All and all, it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was nice and attentive(althought we were low maintenance) and Wan is a cool dude. Only advice would be to «please freshen up those drapes!!» It gives the wrong initial impression of the place.

Great place to sneak away from work and get some sushi and some teriyaki beef! Thank Goodness for the variety Hey Sushi adds to the food outlets at work on Michigan and Lake and Wacker! :) Nice staff and nice place to sit and eat and forget some of the stress!

I’m giving this place four stars not because it’s has amazing food but because the sushi is decent for«fast food»(or rather, «quick eats») and the staff has consistently been nice. Hey Sushi in the Pedway is convenient, inexpensive, decent food and quick. I can walk over there, grab a couple rolls, sit and eat, get back to work satisfied. So far, it’s the best quick eat sushi close to my work I’ve found so far. A nice break from Chipotle, falafel and greasy Chinese food.

Great spot to grab lunch to go. They make the sushi right there, and it’s an off-shoot of the Lincoln Park location. Fresh, affordable and friendly service make it a lunchtime standby for those in the area. No seating area, take-out only.
