I love the selection of Heelz Shoe Salon and it’s the hottest shoe boutique in SoLo. I have made purchases a few times, and the customer service was okay with the saleswomen, however, it has been the owner who carried the stank attitude each time I’ve been in, either looking aggravated or mumbling an aggitated hello – if at all. The most recent time I was in there, I spent about 45 min. looking/trying shoes on until I made my purchase. While the salesperson was more than patient and pleasant, it was the owner who was complaining to another«regular» customer that his«girls» were tired. He then went on to tell me that it doesn’t take that long to make a decision over a shoe. Even mentioned that I’d run out and spread negativity about the store. Great way to close a sale! I’m just going to tell the truth. If I’m buying shoes for a couple hundred dollars, I expect the customer service to be up to par. I expect to be able to make my decision without whispers/comments eluding to the fact that I’m taking too long and the staff is tired from working all day. Hello? That’s retail! Had I not wanted the shoe so much, I’d have left right then. Guess what? High end shoe sales equals high end customer service. Perhaps that is why he’s wondering why women take their business to Neimans and Nordstrom instead? Perhaps that’s why Heelz is closing?

I would have loved to have checked this store out. In fact, rushed and took the train all the way down to the store to check it out, based on their hours. And guess what, they were closed 15 minutes early — I double checked the sign right there on the door, and checked my watch, checked my phone, checked the sign again and made sure I had the day right. Sure did. Not only that, but the guy was in midst of waxing or vacuuming the floors and not a sales person to be seen — so it’s not like they just locked the place up. Real bad form! I didn’t try going back during my visit to Chicago, I was that angry.

Heelz has the absolute cutest selection of shoes that I guarantee you won’t find anywhere else. I took away one star because most of the shoes are prohibitively expensive — which makes me very sad. But they always have a good sale selection(I want to have a party just to show off my newest 40%-off purchase!). They also have cute purses and a small selection of jeans. When you buy a pair of shoes, you get a little bottle of foot scrub and a t-shirt, which I thought was nice. Yay for a great south loop shoe store!
